Lion Hotel Dulverton

Thies, Piet, Nicky and all the staff were absolutely brilliant. We were a large group with lots of needs and requests, which Thies and the team helped us without fuss. The hotel itself had everything we needed, nice rooms - nothing too flash, but everything as described. Really appreciated having evening meals sorted and the breakfasts were lovely. A very convivial bar too!

Old world charm building Great location, for what we needed spot on. Its an old building, not modern, so don't expect the world. Owners were great, friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfy, clean and quiet, not huge but thats the building. Was told to run hot eater for a while to get it to come, takes a few minutes but when it arrives its HOT. Food in restaurant is excellent, service isn't quick thats the only complaint. But worth the wait. Would I stay again? Yes without hesitation, has everything needed

A friendly welcome and wonderful service along with comfortable rooms. The location is great, right in the heart of Dulverton and the food was very tasty indeed. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I stayed for three nights and would not hesitate to return.

The Lion was my home and where I was brought up from 1970-77 as my parents ran this hotel back then. I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room I had considering it was apparently the best room in the hotel. Hadn’t seen a hoover in a while,hair everywhere. Cobwebs in both the bedroom and bathroom. A long hair in the sink and hairs around the toilet bowl. The floor in there needed a thorough deep clean. Mould on both windows and on all curtains. Water took forever to become slightly warm,but I’d also overheard that from other guests. Friendly staff and a good breakfast let down by poor cleanliness. Be aware also that for some strange reason the hotel doesn’t open until 3pm,so you’ll need to contact them if you require to check in sooner. It was the hub of the town back in the 70s and everyone went there,especially The Tap bar,but unfortunately has been closed for some time now. I do sympathise with the current tenants as they’re dictated to by the owner,so money is a big issue,but it certainly does need some money spending on it. All in all it’s a shame it’s got to this,just hope it springs back.

The bedroom was big but the bathroom needed updating, the shower very poor.The windows did not open in bedroom.Staff very helpful and the breakfast was good .The hotel was very clean.It is in an excellent posistion in the centre of Dulverton.
