InterContinental Hotels - Edinburgh the George, an IHG Hotel

New Town Edinburgh|1.46km from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
This was our second time at this hotel and we stayed for almost a week. You can't beat the location on George Street, right downtown, close to shops and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms and bathrooms are very nice. The king bed had a good mattress and pillows. There is a safe. They seem to have made upgrades since our last pre-covid stay, including air-conditioning in (all?) rooms. As you would expect in a big city, the rooms are quite small and the hotel is not exactly quiet; also depending on where your room faces. We were right by the elevator, which I generally don't like. I wonder if it's because we booked through our credit card and not direct. It seems there is sometimes a ”penalty'. The rooms are supplied daily with water, delicious cookies and snacks. You can make individual cups of drip coffee in a filter, which is much better than instant coffee but not as good as a Nespresso, IMHO. We had breakfast included and the Printing Press is just wonderful, for breakfast, any meal and later evening cocktails and whiskey. The Burr & Co is a coffee shop, also right next door, with tables outside. Love that place. The hotel has great service. We lost a suitcase and got daily support in checking on the status and changing the address on the delivery. There seemed to be a shortage on hair conditioner and we didn't have a sign for do-not-disturb the first day and got woken at 8 AM, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment of the hotel stay. We expect to be back.

Kimpton - Charlotte Square, an IHG Hotel

New Town Edinburgh|1.5km from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
The hotel is fab the staff are great and cannot do more for you , lovely touches provided by guest relations concierge & reception staff are so lovely , catering & bar staff great , the room was lovely , great shower and local produce in rooms such as the coffee etc , social hour is a nice touch and breakfast was great , i would stay here again we had a lovely stay ... however the spa lets it down This was a special birthday suprise for my other half i booked the spa for treatments for us . We were late on arrival due to rail strikes and i missed my spa appointment which is fine i expect that if you are not on time. My partner was still able to recieve his treatment however we were provided with no towels robes or slippers , no info regarding lockers . The massuise gave my partner a robe and was suprised one was not already provided for him after he had to walk around after getting changed into swimwear .The water machine in the ladies changing room did not work the only water available was from a tap in the toilet not ideal as the next water machine was in the lobby opposite the gym , especially not ideal if u have no robe or slippers or towel to go out to it . So if you are are a lady there is no drinking water available , very undignified !! I was not shown to the relaxation room and couldnt go in even if i wanted to as i had no towel or robe . My partner told me the mens changing room stank of urine from a pipe . The staff were not very helpfull or attentive and the service at the spa does not reflect the service or same level of standard as the rest of the hotel . I have had better service at a local lesuire centre and would not use this ”spa” again . My partner and I often use spas and this was by far the worst spa expeirience dissapointing as it was his birthday. I could maybe understand if it was busy but it wasnt .

Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian

West End Edinburgh|1.69km from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
Our assessment of our 3 night stay at the Waldorf was mixed. The hotel was very nice and as a Diamond member we were upgraded to a castle view room. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the front desk staff were generally helpful. We did have a problem one night with the light fixture leaking water from the ceiling. This may have been due to a rainstorm one night and staff brought a bucket to catch the leaking water. The biggest problem, however, occurred after checkout. At the time of checkout I was told that the hotel printer wasn’t working so they would email me my receipt. Since all 3 nights were paid for with HH points I asked if there was a zero balance and was told yes. Later that day I received the final bill and was charged over $1,000 on my credit card for all three nights. I immediately called the hotel and was told by in house reservations staff that my reservation had been cancelled when I didn’t show up. I reminded them that we had been staying with them the last 3 nights and had no problem at checkin on the scheduled day. In fact I confirmed our arrival time several hours before checkin. So they didn’t know what the problem was but would talk to the reservations manager when they were free. In the meantime I called the Hilton diamond desk and again was told that someone had cancelled my stay with points and it had been rebooked by someone as a cash stay and they were not sure what the problem was. My points had even been put back onto my account by someone. By now I am a bit irritated. I finally receive a call back from the hotel reservation manager who tells me that the Waldorf had a computer glitch on our arrival date and that all hotel reservations had been cancelled and had to be manually reentered by hotel staff. However, Hilton hotels have no way to make reservations using points so they made them as a cash payment. Thereby the $1,000 bill. Now glitches are bound to occur sometimes. However, all of this angst could have been avoided by telling me at checkin about the problem and I could have immediately rebooked the room using points while standing at the front desk. The hotel did ultimately reverse the charges and apologize. However. this shouldn’t happen at a property like the Waldorf.

The Raeburn

Edinburgh|0.69km from Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
My stay at the Raeburn was exceptional. Upon arrival, we were keen to secure a car parking space but, unfortunately, there were none. The on street parking is quite expensive so we didn’t want to leave the car there for the entire day. We decided to stay and have a coffee/ hot chocolate as some guests were due to check out and one of the lovely, helpful staff members told us when a car park space became available. We returned to check in around 3pm and were delighted to hear we had been given a free upgrade. Our room, Room 3, was beautiful. It was clean, very spacious, had a very comfortable bed and a gorgeous bathroom with a double sink, walk in shower (large) and a roll top bath. It also had gorgeous shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc. The minibar was well stocked and the complimentary items within were much appreciated. The room comes with a hairdryer, GHD straighteners and an iPod/ speaker - again, excellent touches. There were plenty towels ans the dressing gown and slippers were cosy. The best part of our room was what we thought was a standard wardrobe to hang our clothes. We opened the door only to reveal a large walk in wardrobe complete with storage, a full length mirror and ring light. It was beautiful! We visited the bar in the evening for cocktails and these were delicious. In fact, we started and ended our night in the bar. Breakfast was included in our room rate and we couldn’t fault it. Finally, the staff. We found every staff member to be friendly, polite, helpful and so accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We would definitely stay in this hotel again. We are regular visitors to Edinburgh but have never explored the Stockbridge area before. Although I would not rush to visit this area again, I would definitely stay at the hotel again as it is located on bus and walking routes into the city centre. Thank you to all at the hotel for a truly fantastic stay. ☺️

This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. In the UK, if you go out to eat breakfast or lunch, you will have more than 100 pieces. The price is very high, and the price will be high. I will stay here next time~

My husband and I stayed at Canon Court for a long weekend. The apartment was clean, fresh and spacious with a lounge area separate to the kitchen. There is also a car park if required. The bed was amazing, with snug bedding and a comfy mattress. It all felt brand new. The apartment was peaceful and quiet even though Princes street was a short walk away. There’s also a 24 hour Marks and Spencer across the road that’s very convenient. The staff are all super friendly. Jarek, Dorota, Tanja and Matt in particular were very helpful in recommending restaurants and sight seeing spots. We’d highly recommend Canon Court for long or short term leasing.

The hotel is in a good location, not in the downtown area, but the bus is very convenient. There is a bus directly to the beach. You can visit the Britannia. The landlord's wife also has a discount card. The bus to the city is also very convenient, and it is very convenient to go directly to Princes Street and museums. The host is from Hong Kong. The wife is very beautiful. She speaks Mandarin and speaks softly. She is super young. The environment is quiet, and there is a large Tesco supermarket not far from the east. Edinburgh is beautiful and you can live here again.

The small bed in the room is small but clean, and there is no TV, but I made a wrong choice and I am not used to staying in a youth hotel, but it is convenient to walk to the city center in about 15 minutes.

What an amazing find !! Get this place booked !! After searching all over Edinburgh for a place for a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 8 - 11 this place has set that standard high. Tesco express 3 min walk away , a small cosy pub on the corner, 10 min walk to town if that ! Modern, Clean, warm , cosy , spacious, comfy , fast wifi , showers are amazing ! Beds you fall into , keyless door, kitchen has everything, washer/dryer , espresso coffee and milk steamer with pods and biscuits, bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, If you stay here, travel light as we regret packing all the stuff we did as it’s all here ! Or across the road in Tesco express or Waitrose further down. I never normally write reviews but this place deserve kudos 10/10 from us
