The Bay Apartments are a good value but simple place to stay in Hobart. We stayed here for 1 night this week, in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was clean but small. It had an overpowering smell of cleaning products when we arrived but this dispersed during our stay. The bathroom is a traditional shower-over-bath, and there is a small living area and flat screen TV. There is a small cooktop and sink, and a bar fridge. The apartments are a short walk to a large range of restaurants, a Woolworths and a Cole. There is also a pub (almost) next door. It is a short drive to Hobart CBD and there are public buses out the front. We were apprehensive at first as it was quite noisy (noise from other guests and from the road), but this didn’t affect our sleep quality. There is parking outside the unit and one reverse cycle aircon unit in the living area. Don’t expect a fancy property- this is a basic but well presented unit at an affordable price point, not a $300/nt property. If you set your expectations correctly this is a very good property. The stairways to the upstairs appartments are very narrow and it is difficult to carry large cases up and down. I’d stay here again if looking for a basic stay in Hobart, but probably not for multiple nights.

Little bit dated. Booked through Qantas Hotels and somehow was upgraded. ( No requested room available? do not know.) Water shower deluge head is great. Plenty of towels washers etc. The body wash and shampoo bottles are squeeze to actuate, sounds simple doesn't it? Mattress very comfy. Pillow a little firm for me but I did have the choice of 5! You get a kettle and that's it. Fridge opens one way, cupboard door opens opposite way. Not user friendly. Mis mash of cups. No knife or fork. Had to book for a couple of nights the next week but was an extra 50 an night. Thought that was a bit unnecessary for a returning client booking the same room. We had two windy nights and the sliding door widows rattling was enough to keep you awake. Need to be wedged. Location to town. Excellent, walking distance.

Basic room but very clean and well appointed. Very close proximity to all amenities of the cbd, uber eats was able to find us quickly and without hassle, also the establishment is very quiet of a night. The bed was comfortable and there was free Wi-Fi, for $85 a night, so close to everything and presented in this manner, I would happily recommend to anyone I know and will be staying again when we are down again. The only recommendation I have for the owners/managers is the shower cubicle itself is very small and I'm a tall guy and big build too, so moving around to shower was a bit hard but otherwise that's it. Thank you for a great stay, my partner and I will see you again on our next stay. 👍

A house has two rooms and 4 people. The dining room is large, the cooking is convenient, the facilities are very complete, there is a dishwasher, and the washing machine dryer is also added. The lady at the reception was very nice, helping to book a ticket to Bruny Island.

Great location in bush setting. All informatiin sent in email before stay was helpful, so access was easy. Self contained cabin,with all you need, included. Great for short, or longer stays. Not far from city centre

I checked in an hour ago and have considered checking out. Bathroom is gross - shower, grout, and toilet. If the blinds are open, it leaves you exposed to people potentially using a walking trail outside your window, but with the blinds closed the room is very dim. There is a dead bug and spider web on/around my window. Walls are marked everywhere. I can scratch 'substances' off surfaces that clearly haven't been cleaned properly. The microwave both looks and smells like a pasta sauce disaster. It should be spotless. The arm chair in the room could use a decent scrub/be replaced - its arms are black. I was paying exactly the same price for a motel in Sandy Bay earlier this week and the quality far exceeded this one. Would absolutely not stay again. Its gross. No attention to detail. Really disappointing. Really want to go back to Sandy Bay!! Phone cannot pick up the Wi-Fi network. I was given a card with the password, but not the network name? Staying for convenience only to be near my elderly parents.

A little bit out of the way of shops etc but has a pub right next door for a drink and meal. The room was comfortable and had evrything you need (except towels which they promptly got when asked) Not the flashest place but did the job with friendly staff and easy parking,

When you arrive at the Grand Chancellor you will find a tiny front drive that can fit about 4 cars, where you are supposed to be able to park, check in, and then move your car to their underground parking. However, this front drive is not monitored so when we arrived the driveway was completely full with no one there to direct us anywhere. We drove around the block to enter the underground parking and unloaded our bags which we had to carry up the stairs from the parking garage as there was no guest lift that we could easily find (good luck if you have trouble with stairs). At the bottom of the stairs there is a button that you can supposedly use to call someone to assist with your bags. We tried to use this and though we could hear the bell upstairs, it was not answered (even just to let us know that someone would come), so we gave up and carried our bags up the stairs. Upon arrival to the room, we noticed it was clearly very dated. We could see some effort had been made to update the rooms visually but the installations felt very half-****d. For instance instead of a shower curtain for the bath tub there was a half glass pane that is delightfully too short and instead bounces water off its side and onto the floor. A rainfall showerhead had also been installed but it seemed like an afterthought as it was crooked and had poor water pressure. We then tried to use the pool. Upon entry, I felt like I was taken back in time to the days of dark and damp fitness centers and unmaintained pool floors & furniture. There were no staff nearby and the entire area was a mess. Walking into the locker rooms was a shock with horrible banged up smelly lockers (many of which were open but had no key to lock it!) and awful grey blue shiny tiles that bounce the cold flickering white light around. The shared sauna between male and female locker rooms was also a joke. We left without even bothering to get changed or use the pool. We then attempted to dine at the restaurant in the hotel lobby. The host at the front asked if we had a reservation which we did not. He then looked around at the many empty tables as if he was not sure what to do and then asked us to ”wait outside” as he checked availability. We have never been asked to exit any restaurant whilst they searched for a table (even in much busier restaurants) and we were very frustrated by this request. We waited outside over 5 minutes and then decided to leave and ask the front desk staff for other local restaurant recommendations. As we were on our way out, we noticed the restaurant host was hovering nearby as if he had found us a table and was waiting for us to be done but we left without another look. Upon arriving back in our room after dinner and turning off the lights to sleep, we were graced with the hallway light streaming through the large cracks in the poorly fitted door. Great 2 bedroom unit that we used as our base for 5 nights exploring the bottom half of Tassie. Living area isn’t huge and the kitchen is small, however it’s all very functional and works well. Bedrooms and bathroom facilities upstairs with comfy beds and bathrooms are great - fantastic shower pressure. Laundry facilities are good with 5 washing machines and dryers, and you can grab extra coffee, sugar, towels from here also anytime. Didn’t use the pool but it looks great. Parking is easy with parks straight outside your unit doors. Overall, great place to stay, but quite hilly if are wanted to walk into the city.

After driving near 2h , You wish you will get ” Pink ” the receptionist checking you in ; fast , lively , very friendly That was our 3 time . We will be back in 10 weeks ....Thank you
