We just spent nights at the Fairfield. It could have been better. First let's start with what was good. The location was ideal for the places we were visiting (US Space & Rocket Center and the Orion Theater). Our room was nice, modern, and clean and the price was fair. Now the bad stuff. We originally booked a two-night stay but decided to arrive a day earlier, and add a night. You would think that adding a night would make a hotel happy, but it caused problems. Our booking was non-refundable so instead of cancelling our original booking and rebooking, we had to do a second booking for the additional night. That was the start of our problems. Our first morning there, we went to breakfast (see below). After breakfast, we went back to our room and our keys didn’t working. We went back down to the desk and it was because of the second booking. It took the clerk a LONG time to work things out and get our keys reprogrammed. Then we had to go back to the room and get a credit card for incidentals (apparently, they couldn't just use the original card, it had to be swiped again). Two trips to our room and back when we were in a hurry. Late that afternoon when we returned to our room, it wasn't made up. Housekeeping said that we were shown as a checkout. Our room wasn't made up the next day either as, according to housekeeping, back-to-back check ins screw up their scheduling. During our three-night stay, our room was never made up and the only way we got fresh towels was to chase someone down in housekeeping. Breakfast, seriously how hard is breakfast? Our first morning we were in the elevator headed to breakfast and talking to another guest. When we said we were getting breakfast, he said "Good luck, their breakfast is terrible, I'm going somewhere else". He wasn't wrong. Without going into too many details, the breakfast is not good. After trying the Fairfield breakfast, we opted to go to McDonalds. I am not a fan of McDonalds, especially when I have free breakfast at the hotel, but the breakfast at Fairfield was not good.
