Very cramped room. Staff were helpful. Food is good. Easy walk to the Ferry and John o Groats township. Aaron's of Wick bus will drop you at the door and pick you up from there.

Room was good, clean and comfortable. The food was good. My only complaint was that the woman who seemed to be running the hotel took was sneezing and coughing all over the place. She took no precautions to prevent spreading her germs. It was less than appetizing to have her take our dinner order and cough over the table. I thought people had learned about this during covid?

Excellent location, short walk from John o groats, helpful and friendly staff, the room was excellent, free WiFi, and very comfortable beds. The breakfast was excellent, and best of all was the view from our room No 32, you could see a beautiful landscape of John O Groats, and the Orkney islands, perfect mornings view, and most importantly pet friendly.

We turned up on the day with no booking and there was no trouble getting a room for the night. Karen and her team looked after us really well. We managed to get booked in for dinner, it gets really busy, then a few drinks afterwards in bar which was nice and relaxing. The room we had was an accessibility room which was very spacious and handy for my wife to get a shower in the morning. Our views were excellent from the room as we had a view of the sea even though on ground level..!! Breakfast was nice and set us up for the day, I’d definitely recommend this hotel and the staff to everyone..!!

Our room was across the road from the main building and reception desk. The check-in person was courteous and helpful. Parking is limited and we parked right up against the main building, only a few feet from the highway. So, great access to the highway! Our room was another story. It was very outdated, old, very small and crowded for two people. In much need of some updated renos, to at least modernize the room. The bathroom was also very small. They have you, because there isn't anything else around, and because of that, we were grateful to be able to get a room. It is peaceful and quiet, though, in John O'Groats, which is really nice. The saving grace for the hotel was our dinner in the bar. The food was very good. The Cullen Skink is very good, that was our first time eating Cullen Skink and certainly wasn't our last time during our tour of Scotland. What a great soup! The Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Cheesecake were also very good. The breakfast, which is included, was also good, and included hot and/or cold menu items. The road out to Duncansby Head is only a stone's-throw away from the hotel. That is where you walk through a meadow of sheep to beautiful views of "The Stacks", which are tall rock formations, separated from the cliffs. Worth the drive and the walk.

Reasonable hotel. The room was clean and spacious with a good bathroom. Rooms are not luxury but have everything you need. Food in the bar was very good. Breakfast was ok but very little choice if you don’t have cooked. They had no marmalade or jam which is a staple for breakfast. Husband loved his cooked breakfast A no frills hotel that was comfortable and clean.

The only hotel we stayed in during our NC500 trip was underwhelming. The room is adequate, the highlight being the shower, once I tightened the head. The room we stayed in also had a lovely view of John O’groats. The breakfasts were nice enough. An array of options, but nothing over the top and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We dined for one out of the two nights we stayed, and would recommend taking a drive slightly further afield for a main meal. There were various dishes missing from the menu, and we had to wait 45 minutes for our starters. The food was very basic, the plates dirty upon service, and didn’t leave feeling the amount paid reflected the food we had.

The menu is probably from another era since half of it was unavailable. Although the descriptions of the meals seemed appetizing at first, what we actually got in our plates was extremely basic and void of refinement. Very nice and friendly service. Avoid local beer. Stella is your best bet.

We booked this place because of its proximity to the port as we had a full day cruise to the Orkney Islands. The only good thing we could find for this place was the meals in the restaurant. We were very disappointed about the room - floor creaked as we moved about. We could hear the shower from the room next door. Weren’t happy with a couple of dogs barking on our level. Recommend you look elsewhere.
