The Pros - very stylish decor in a beautiful setting overlooking glasson lake and golf course. The decor is stylish and reminiscent of a log cabin. The beds are extremely comfortable. And the suites are extremely spacious. The copper bathtub overlooking the lake and the woodburning stove were nice touches for our winter break. The Cons - the staff are friendly but young andinexperienced. We had heard that the food was average and so chose to eat in Athlon town instead. However, we did have breakfast at the property and I can confirm that the food was average, at best. it also took three attempts to get our coffee order right which was only 2 Americanos. Again whilst the reception staff were friendly, I found them to be very inexperienced. During check-in they were telling me what a good rate that I had got and comparing it to the standard rate but using the figures out loud so that my partner could hear as well as everyone around us and it was meant to be a surprise trip where I did not want them to know how much I had spent. I had to ask her to stop referencing the amounts. In addition they initially tried to charge me €200 over what my agreed rate was and it was only when I noticed a payment and queried it that they apologised and amended it. On checkout I was told that my bill included a spa treatment and a ‘few bits’ from the bar. And was given a total to pay but no itemised bill which I had to ask for to check that all the charges were accurate. I have never had to ask for an itemised bill before as these are always provided a standard in every hotel. To my mind the decor of the property is four star but the service is three star. No doorman or valet or assistance with bags, no turn down service, etc. We will return to the property as the suite and hotel location were worth it but we’d advise eating elsewhere. Our taxi driver said that The Villager bar/restaurant in the local village would be worth a try.

Hot tubs, boats, views, lakes, music, and ambience - It is that good! As a music lover, the vinyl in the room was a lovely touch! The hot tubs with views, fantastic, the golf pros are good fun - especially when the Irish Coffees start flowing! A must stay in Ireland!

We had previously been at this hotel for a wedding two years ago and returned as a couple for birthday celebrations. The difference in the hotel in two years is massive and not in a good way. Room was full of maintenance issues with the bath plug not working, shower set at boiling & the tap coming off in your hand when you turned it on. Service was extremely poor, waiting 45 minutes for breakfast and doors into the garden bang loudly as people walk in/out. Not sure they ever heard of a slow door closure, we went away to get a bit of peace and quite and left with a headache. Music in the bar was so so so loud...lots of people asked the bar staff to turn it down which wasn't facilitated. Unfortunately, we wont be returning to the hotel again as we were extremely disappointed with the service.

4 star, staff need training to get all 5 stars
Lovely hotel, nice food, lovely outdoor heated pool, staff were lovely,rooms were clean and nice size.
My only faults were the bar and dining staff apart from the main man out in the terrace bar he was flat out maybe if some off the younger staff had a training day with him they would learn a thing or two...
But all and all we'll be back as the service didnt put us of the hotel.

Amazing Stay
Amazing Hotel. Beautiful grounds and golf course. Restaurant was awesome. Room was perfect, right down to the record player and assortment of old albums. Friendly staff. Great heated pool

Loved my stay!
Beautiful hotel, impeccible view, great activities, and amazing, helpful staff. Only downside was the restaurant's slow service. Food delicious but the time frame between ordering and receiving food takes a while. Restaurants management seemed to be all over the place during breakfast. Loved the reception staff of the hotel and the snacks in the hotel was a great addition.

Mixed emotions
El hotel es muy bueno, instalaciones, servicio y restaurante. La habitación amplia, buena cama y almohadas. Lo único malo que desmereció bastante fue un problema con el agua, solo salía caliente o muy caliente incluida la del WC. Lo dije en recepción y no lo arreglaron. Para el precio de la habitación me parece que debían haberlo arreglado inmediatamente. Otro detalle, los aparatos retro que había, un tocadiscos y una radio ideales, pero no funcionaban.
