The admission fee for the Shoin Painting School inside is 800 yen and it has a pretty nice courtyard. It's cheap to take the local train to and from Takamatsu. You can go directly to Kotohira Kotoden, the last station, for more than 700 yen one way for one hour. You can also book a ride on the same day if the Hanatana Hotel has a car to pick you up.
