Everything was fine until the end. In comparison to other hotels I stayed at throughout my trip, this one is cleaner and more spacious. It's close to Tokyo Station, so it's easy to get to other areas, even if it took me quite a while to figure out their operation and routes. The hotel will be cleaned one time every three days. So, generally, it will not be cleaned throughout your stay. However, you can request that they change the towels every day. The check-in and check-out processes were straightforward, however the machine did not accept my Visa card - this is the only site in Japan that did. The hotel also helped you store your belongings before and after check-in/out. However, I was discriminated against by one of the hotel's employees when sending the luggage after checkout. Before me, he stayed near the check-in/checkout machine, assisting a Japanese couple with the checkout procedures and handling the bags. So I waited, thinking he also approached me to assist. However, after assisting the couples, he did not approach me and came back to the counter. Then I beckoned him to his assistance. Instead, he hailed me with his fingertips to come over his counter, rather say anything like “Please come over the counter to do the procedure”. It shocked me. Furthermore, the way he handled my luggage request was really unpleasant. When I asked for his name because I didn't see it on his tag, he became more agitated. So that is why I requested him to write his name on the receipt card. How is it possible for him to treat people so differently? Should Japanese people be treated more respectfully under the hotel's policy? After my interaction with him, all of my positive feelings about the hotel vanished.

Staff Are very attentive and quick, they are able to assist you in English too if you can't communicate in Japanese. Transport is easy as it is located about 10-15 minutes away from Kyoto Station which has Shinkansen/JR trains/bus available. Given a cozy room with various options of daily cleaning (none/basic/partial/full) main difference being if you want the bathtub to be washed / bed to be made, so you can hang it by your door to notify the crew accordingly.

However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset. Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration. The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire. Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.

The location is convenient, a 15-minute walk to Kyoto Station, and opposite the AEON depar**ent store. The hotel also has free rental bicycles. If you want to take a bus to Kiyomizu Temple, Kamogawa and other scenic spots, the bus stop is near the hotel.

Suitable for motorists to stay, simple and clean, comfortable and quiet, the price is very good value near the nearby attractions, the only drawback is that if you arrange to live on the 2nd floor, you need to walk a flight of stairs.

We stayed here for one night, I would like to stay longer. Close to Kyoto station, but I don’t like this part of the city. Whatever I like the hotel’s concept! It’s nice onsen hotel, where you have to take off your shoes before entering into the hotel, everywhere in the hotel is tatami, so nice to walk on. First floor is for onsen and restaurant. It was amazing breakfast, I think I can eat different food everyday and won’t be bored! You can make yourself coffee, matcha, tea or any other beverages, can make it with ice so on. Seriously, I was surprised about your food service, I have to mention about evening ramen for everyone, it was nice to eat after visiting onsen, I also grab an iced late after. In the resting area near the onsen gate there is free ice cream and diary beverages.

I stayed once before the renewal, but at that time it was not a very beautiful room for compliments. I stayed for the first time after the renewal this time, but it was no longer a separate inn. The buffet provided for dinner did not have many varieties. There was not even a seafood sashimi. The beef place provided mediocre food and the Western pastry was pretty good.

3 stations from JR Kyoto Station, a 5-minute walk from Nijo Station on the subway Tozai Line, and a very convenient location right next to Sanjo Shopping Street, the longest shopping mall in Kyoto City. It looks like a machiya hotel along an alley in a residential area, but there is a large dining space and a communal kitchen in the lobby on the first floor. The rooms are full of beds, but the bathrooms are average size and the rooms with kitchens are said to be slightly larger.
