Broadoaks Boutique Country House

We got married at Broadoaks in October 24, we knew from the moment we drove into the driveway when visiting potential venues in the Lakes that this was the one. The venue itself is beautiful & has so much charm & character. It’s traditional with a modern twist - each bedroom is unique & detailed, the beds were the comfiest we’ve all ever slept in! The staff we dealt with were amazing from start to finish - from planning to the day itself, everyone we dealt with were so helpful, polite & friendly- it actually felt like they were part of our wedding party! We had a small wedding with just 36 guests & it was perfect, so intimate and personal. We had the ceremony & meal in the orangery then used both rooms for our evening party. The food was amazing & there was plenty for everyone -we cannot fault a thing. The grounds looked absolutely stunning in their bright, vibrant autumn colours and we had the perfect weather glorious sunshine & bright blue skies which allowed us to have our reception drinks outside & our photographer too us down to the lake for photos. A special mention to our lovely wedding coordinators Kitty & Issie who made the day run so smoothly nothing was too much trouble & to Taran for accommodating the guests that decided at the last minute to stay over. We’ve actually just returned from visiting Broadoaks again last night & we felt equally as welcomed and as special as we did on our wedding day. We can’t wait to return again & make it a regular special occasion. Thank you everyone at Broadoaks you’ll forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Thank you Broadoaks for a fabulous three night Christmas break. Fantastic food and service, unexpected treats, fun entertainment, welcoming fires and a lovely warm room. Best of all the friendly staff who worked hard to give us all a special time. Happy new year to you all - hope you enjoy time off when you get it.

We had our wedding in November 23 and came back to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and we stayed for 2 nights. We were booked into the retreat which we have no complaints about. Our issue arise from the changes that have been made to the house. Firstly the bar area, all the classic wooden bar shelves have been removed and replaced with a basic bar that is too modern for the room and house. If we move into the dining room all the cosy features like the carpet and wallpaper has been removed and painted cream. The room actually echoed. It was a quieter time to visit but there was no cosy environment at all. The food was nice enough in the evening but not to the level we were used to. The breakfasts different on each day. The first day was a buffet style hot breakfast. This was poor and a bit soggy. The second morning was better and it was cooked to order. The breakfast selection was much smaller than it used to be. It is a shame that only 1 staff member remains as they were all so great. The staff now are friendly but we did have to ask for a few basic things like a glass at breakfast. Overall we were sad to see how much it has changed in just a year. I do not think we will be back. We will hold onto the memories of our wedding when it was at its best.

Our son held his wedding at Broadoaks and it was a fabulous weekend from start to finish. The staff were extremely helpful and the accessible room we stopped in was perfect with a well thought out layout and great bathroom facilities. The food was excellent and we ate far more than we should have as a result. Having exclusive use of the hotel for the wedding made it feel really special and relaxing, with people we knew in every room. A special place for a special occasion and I am sure we will be back again as we had such a wonderful time.

Never thought I could put a review like this about our beloved Broadoaks. Started coming 17 years ago, usually at least once a year and got married there. Came last weekend and wow, what a difference. What has happened. Started off at reception with a quick look in the restaurant, now all white and looking like a doctor’s surgery. Then to the Riverhaven which is our go to room. Gone is the mattress under the window, which we loved to relax on looking into the woodland. Now replaced with a cheap looking sofa. Toilet door rubbing on the floor and very dim bulb. Noticed we were the only ones staying in the lodges where normally all three are occupied. Evening meal was okay but not a patch on what it used to be. Must be a new chef. We always came for one of our birthdays and the dessert plates had Happy Birthday written around, with the other one Welcome Back. Never had to remind them. Nothing this time. Maybe new owners? The bar shelves all gone with awkward seating, plain wall just looks cheap. Breakfast now a Premier Inn style serve yourselves from heated containers (still not very warm) no black pudding or choice of eggs. Worse was the staff going around the tables asking that we do 5 star reviews and to include their names! Beautiful old country manor being slowly ruined. It’s lost all its soul and character. Please do not change the music room. Although we won’t be back to know. Anyone not been before probably won’t find anything wrong but they have missed out on a very special stay.

Broadoaks was the perfect wedding venue. We had full use of the hotel & accommodation rooms for 80 guests. The wedding team & hotel staff provided a first class service during the planning & on the day. Their priority was to ensure all our ideas & requests were accommodated to ensure my daughter’s vision of her perfect day was provided.
