Stayed four days, which was a tad too long. I am glad that I came to Lanai. The highlight was a tour with just me and an esteemed local resident , Alberta de Jetkey. She was superb. As for the hotel, it is kind of unusual and is minimally staffed. It is certainly far cheaper than the Four Seasons Resorts, but not inexprnsive either, at $330 per night. This is an historic building and I realize there are limitations, but the room is quite small, with no chair or desk. The decor is rather cool modern and there are a bunch of geewhiz electronics, which I was starting to figure out by the end of the stay. The toilet does everything but carry on a chat with you. The continental breakfast Serves a purpose, but is very basic. The word is out that the hotel is going to close this year, at least on a temporary basis, to house construction supervisors for the owner of most of the island, Larry Ellison. That is too bad.
