Disappointing
Set in a lovely location and I'm sure would be great for riding related stays, however as a lone traveller I wasn't overly impressed with any aspect of my stay. Initial concern was a very loose doorknob on entry to my room. Angled the tv towards the chair and the dust behind it! There was a crack in the sink and the same toilet roll used in my local Asda public loos. Breakfast sadly was disappointing. The scrambled egg appeared to be made with more milk than egg and was bland, the bacon thick cut and salty, mushrooms had a metallic taste and the black pudding wasn't nice. I'm afraid I don't understand how this was classed as 4*

Happy Scottish visit
Very nice B&B. Staff very professional and friendly. Breakfast excellent. Only one fault, very noisy plumbing in the Musselburgh room.

Beautiful location and a very comfortable bed, however, for a 4* rating hotel in quite a small town location, one would expect a more personal-touch type of a customer service. Room was very comfortable but upon closer inspection of the bedroom/bathroom aspects, quality comes closer to 3* level.

Stayed here for one night before golfing jn Lanark. Arrived about 5.30 where a helpful member of staff was present to check me in. Nice welcome Dram a nice touch but didn’t take them up on this. Was appointed the Aintree Room which was upstairs and at end of corridor. The room itself was a good size with en suite. The single bed was comfortable and the pillow fantastic. Only things I’d note were the room was on a slight slope and there was no welcome pack so had to ask for WiFi code. But minor things. The breakfast, and staff were superb so I would like to single out those staff members for particular praise. Only one thing negative from my stay unfortunately was the noise from other guests. This is not the fault of the hotel but noise travels through the building so easily. A bunch of drunken wedding revellers woke everyone up at 1.30am and were so noisy for a while. Overall a nice b&b with brilliant staff, but just spoiled slightly by other guests m.
