This is the worst hotel that I have stayed in the UK, although it is a four-star hotel. I even think it is discrimination/scam towards tourists as I see they treated the local British normally, putting them in the Wellington Hotel. Yet, the staff put us and other tourists to the rubbish Rochester Hotel. I spent so much money on the room in this Wellington Hotel, but the staff replaced us with another hotel (a three-star called Rochester Hotel) without giving any explanation. As seen in the attached photo, this Rochester Hotel is still under renovation, with workers working and nasty, chemical smell flying everywhere (I can even smell it in my hotel room), the staff still put us in this hotel. I complained and sought help from the staff, but they were useless. They insisted it's alright for me to stick with this hotel room. So outrageous and unreasonable!

They checked us in then didn’t have a room for my daughter and I. After waiting an hour we were given a room with a window next to the kitchen exhaust because they could not find our information. The room had an awaful food smell that I was hoping would get removed by the air vents but the ac didn’t work and opening the window only made the smell worse. Night 2 and 3 they ended up moving us to another property that was in construction that was less stars but the room smelled better. The hotel did there best to get us into a decent room but Trip.com refused to help in the matter. Trip.com refuses to adjust the pricing for the room I stayed in and will not make any adjustments or compensation. My total for the 3 nights in the room I requested was $667 the total for the rooms I actually stay in was $250. I should have been refunded for my overpayment however Trip.com says they cannot protect their customers. This was hopefully a rare case but beware of using a third party site to book any room. I know this hotel would have helped me right away if I would have booked directly through them.

All in all a nice hotel reasonably priced for the location. Staff were very friendly and efficient and the room was comfortable. Bathroom a little dated and unfortunately my room was next to a generator outside which had an annoying but not awful hum throughout the night. I was upgraded to a larger room so didn’t think I could really complain. Overall happy to recommend

The hotel was lovely, few issues tho, was that we booked our room based on the pictures, which isn't what we got, when the manager told us that they did give us the executive double, even tho i showed her the pictures off the room i choose, and what we was expecting, she wasnt really interested in what i was trying to say, it wasn't the room we chose based on the pictures, which is false advertising, so was a bit unhappy about this because the executive double room was alot bigger and also had a couch in, on pictures. I kno I sound stupid because off this but we chose that room because it had more space, wasn't aware about being charged for trays £4 each when getting room service. And Breakfast was very slow, nothing ready, no bread left, had to ask for stuff.

The courtyard is not big but has a good atmosphere. The room is clean and bright. People who run and walk their dogs often pass by downstairs. In the city center, I chose Victoria Station as the keyword. Maybe I arrived a little late. The room was on the 3rd floor (the highest floor), so the ceiling was slanted and I couldn't sit on the bedside.
