Hotels near Moso Art in Los Angeles

Could easily be zero stars. Original room was 93 degrees upon check in, the air conditioning unit was poor by anyone's standard, we asked to switch rooms. They did not offer to come get our bags, or move us to a new room so we brought our luggage back down to the front desk. We were then given a second room. Again, no offer made to accompany us and see if the new room was up to standards. This room was 92 degrees upon entry. After a second phone call, they sent up staff to change the filters on the AC unit. That team told us the AC was functioning well and blowing cold air (it was blowing cold air as if you had a few ice cubes in your mouth and blew on my neck) and to use the blackout curtains (after a sort of condescending explanation of what blackout curtains do) and give it some time for the AC to work. We went out to dinner for about two hours and came back to a nice cool 87 degree room. We once again took our belongings back downstairs. We were then told by the front desk staff that since we booked a room with a king size bed all of those rooms faced the sun and would all have similar problems (why would that be an acceptable answer?) and they could do nothing more for us since they accommodated us once already. I had no idea their idea of accommodating someone was to put them in a room with the same problem that the previous room had but what do I know, I am not in the hospitality industry. We were then told that the hotel was completely booked so no further ”accommodations” could be made. We asked for a refund and this is the first time they reacted with some conviction, they were happy to let us leave. Must be nice to be able to turn away business. At no time were there any apologies, any remorse, just matter-of-factly let us leave. My wife and I don't argue or yell, we never feel its worth it, but we left angry and hotel-less on a Saturday night in Los Angeles. We scrambled to find a new hotel but the damage was done, they took our entire Saturday away from us, which no refund could ever compensate for, they temporarily took our joy to be in town on our own as we are parents and do not get much time away. We did take our business elsewhere, to a Hilton, they seem to understand that to relax you need a room that is slightly cooler than a sauna. We were able to salvage the remaining days of our trip. Also the elevators at the Freehand are old (charming?) and constantly in use because of the rooftop bar so it took us waiting for a few packed elevators to get up and down to the hot AF rooms which probably added to our level of frustration. But it was mostly the Sahara like environment of the hot room. Did I mention the rooms were hot? Also maybe use a free hand to open a book on what hospitality looks like, I think your staff may be surprised. (see what I did there?)

When I first arrived I was telling the guy at the desk that I had two reservations I cancelled one, but there should be another that I have already prepaid. Well he pretty much was saying he don’t see a paid room as I have the confirmation receipt on my phone in my hand. the lady (his co worker) reviewed my receipt for the room purchase and searched by my middle name. They found my reservation… okay, they were out of one beds. So we walk to our room and it’s literally a jail no city view, just a view of other hotel windows and a vent on the second floor. I mean that’s ridiculous for the price so make sure y’all checking the view before paying all that money! Remind you the guy already pushed back on me regarding my prepayment so was he being rude? I think so honestly. So I Go back to the desk to get another room with a better view because at this point I was disgusted, new room still have 2 beds but it was on 8th floor with a good view so I was okay with it, better than the first room. Going off of reviews and pictures I thought this hotel would be nice but it’s really old looking I made the best out of it but I would never book here again sorry not sorry.

Location - located on Figueroa Street across the street from the USC campus. Proximity to USC is the biggest winner for this Radisson. Accommodations - The lobby was basic, one story with a small front desk and small pool antey. The gym was basic with 2 treadmills and 2 ellipticals and weights up to 35 OK lbs.. The rooms are decent size and well maintained with nice decor. The bathrooms can stand to be updated though. Service - The front desk folks are OK but the hotel policies really bring it down overall. We stayed at the hotel during move in week and weekend (5 days 4 nights) but were not given a water bottle like everyone else, that was weird. We received some Amazon boxes while there and were charged $5/box after the 3rd box but were not told in advance from the hotel that they would charge us, so they basically held the packages I ordered for my daughter's move in hostage.

The one incident that nearly ruined my stay at CitizenM was the aggressive sprinkler inspection. I was not notified by email, phone, nor physical note about an inspection. At 9:15am, I was awoken by banging on my guest room door. I went to the door to see two men continuing to bang on the door, saying that they needed immediate access to check on equipment. Everything I've been taught about hotel safety was to NOT open the door to unidentified men. I told them everything in the room was fine and that I would be checking out within the hour. They continued to insist that I immediately open the door, which started to frighten me. I told them I was going to call the front desk to check if they were sent by the hotel. I was surprised that one of the men responded in an angry manner saying, ”FINE, GO AHEAD AND CALL THE FRONT DESK!” The woman at the front desk apologized, said that she too had just found out about the inspection, and said that the men were indeed authorized to inspect the sprinklers. I opened the door and they did a quick inspection. I did not appreciate the aggressive, unprofessional manner in which they demanded entry into my room. Other than that, the rest of my experience was excellent!

It was peaceful. I just need a quiet place to spend the night

We stayed at MOXY for a weekend and really enjoyed our stay. MOXY is a Marriott hotel, with cool design concept. They share the amenities and services, like fitness and restaurant/bar space, and that makes the experience even better. Level 8 restaurants and bars are place to be during the weekend. We would love to come back.

Near metro and grand Central station, hotel provided shampoo soap. Room Was clean. Room was a little tight for 2 person with 2 luggages. Downside was there is no convenience store or supermarket nearby which opens at night when we went back to our hotel.

I was going to stay in room 229 for four nights (Monday, August 29th - Friday, July 2nd), to attend SIGGRAPH in 2019, but ending up leaving early - not even sleeping there one night. The older man at the front desk was courteous, nice, and helpful with getting the WiFi password. He gave me the option of choosing rooms between an older building and a newer one, where there was not hot water at the time (but that was temporary, due to some maintenance going on) and nicer rooms. I went with the newer building lacking warm water (for a day) and having nicer rooms. Room 229 looked as the hotel advertises online, and like the photographs of other online reviews. The room was clean, the bed made, no stains in the microwave, and the bathroom had fresh toilet paper in a matte paper wrap. I settled in, putting my items down, and went out to eat. Coming back is when alert arose. Not too long after returning (quite soon rather), I was sitting at a chair next to the bed, charging my phone, when a knock was heard. I called out ”hello?” and no one answered. There was more knocking and more hellos from me, but still, no response. I went up to the door from the inside and asked who was there, calling my sister was I headed to the door, as the felling was not right - one ready for 911. A man claimed to be looking for a ”Kyle,” and I informed the man that there was no Kyle there, especially not I (female). He wanted to come inside the room, then claiming that ”Kyle's” phone number was inside the room, presumably written down. Told the man that there was no such number in the room, that it was clean when I got there. Also suggested that he go ask the front desk about this ”Kyle,” letting him know that I was not comfortable letting him in the room. He would not go to the front desk and claimed that he understood that I was not comfortable letting him in the room, but was still insisting on coming in. It was difficult to get a good look at him through the peep hole. It sounded like there was someone else with him. He and they sounded mumbled in a quick talk, like acknowledging my stance and essentially giving up, leaving. Maybe they did not truly leave, but stayed in the shadows or at a distance, away from evident sight. After the incident, I texted and called friends about it, also the front desk. The worker who picked up stated that they would check it out, but I did not dare open the door and check to see if they actually did. I waited for a trusted friend to pick me up and ended up staying with her at the Sheraton Grand in downtown LA instead - much more secure. It was dark out, but less frightening when help came. I called Expedia, whom the stay was booked with, about the incident on the 29th and got an email on the 30th, in the AM, that they were still in the process of contacting the manager about getting a refund. It's quite before. It was about 2012, and it was 3 or 4 months. I'm sorry that the information was old. I tried to describe it nostalgic. The owner was Korean American, and the inn worker 々 was Japanese. The owner was very pleasant and the person who worked was very good. Definitely, you can spend comfortably !! I miss it. The building itself is old, but it was cleaned properly and there was no huh at all. The station is also close and recommended to stay reasonable !! The room was hot because it was honest and only a fan (at that time) (of course a single room). The bus toilet is joint, but it will not be a problem because it is different from men and women. Yes. . . When you eat, you can rent a pot or fixture for free, so you can also cook for yourself !! There is also a refrigerator. Also, the washing is done with a washing machine and a dryer, so it is stress free. There is no detergent. Each, once, about 25 cents. When I returned to Japan, the owner said that I would come with my wife next time, but I can't realize it yet (T_T) I think it's a really good hotel for Japanese people !! I want to go again if the corona is settled and time is done.

Location is really central, but it’s very dangerous at night. It’s a quite a messy neighbourhood just stone throw from their financial district. Parking only via valet, which take awhile when there are few cars ahead of you. Nice hotel, but pillows are of irregular sizes and mushy.
