I rarely write reviews but I have to tell you that I had a terrible service during check in. The guy who was working at the front desk said that he could not find my reservation and then he said it was canceled. I got panicked and told him that it could never happen cause I have never cancelled the reservation and it is still on my Trip.com app, so it must be your fault (I meant hotel) if it was ever canceled. But he bluntly said that he didn't cancel it and told me to figure it out as if it was my fault. I asked him to talk to someone or check again cause it looked like a system error or something to me, but he told me to go somewhere else cause he needs to greet other customer. I was so scared because it was already after 9PM and I had nowhere else to stay. So I called Trip.com customer center, and the agent was nice and prompt to tackle the issue. In the end, she explained that Trip.com used a vendor to make a booking for the hotel, and the hotel did not know that so they could not pull up my reservation until they got another code. But I think it was partially Trip.com's fault by only sending the reservation code that did not work properly.

It was a long ride from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to the American Hotel located at the center of the inspiring Downtown Arts District. Quite an expensive taxi ride; nonetheless, I gladly reached the place where I had to stay for almost a week before my onward journey to Asia. Fortunately, someone came running down the steep stairs to open the door; and he assisted me with my heavy luggage. His name's Justin if I wasn't mistaken. (I had no idea what the door code was!) There was no elevator in the hotel, and I had to ascend the steep stairs to check in on the second floor. A security deposit of US $100 had to be given upon check-in but the same was refundable on check-out time. However, I haggled for $50 deposit which was then refunded back to my debit card after a week. My room was on the second floor and it had a double bed that was comfortable enough, conducive to a good sleep. There was a convenient water and ice dispenser on the same floor. The shared toilets and bathrooms were very clean. What I appreciated most was the concern and helpfulness of the staff, especially regarding the television. The remote control was not working for the TV system; and they did not stop rectifying it till the next day. When I opened the door the next morning, a new remote control was by my door with a note, ”this one should work now; and in case still not, let us know.”. A warm ”Thank You” to the staff of the American Hotel. Your property had complemented my visit to Los Angeles, California.

The room was small, but the overall service was still ok. The first night the room was a bit noisy facing the night market, and the second night was changed to another corner with a view. The hotel design details are full, but most are public spaces, the hotel room design is general, unless you spend a big price to live in a suite

Very suitable for multi-day long stay itineraries. I also read a lot of reviews before booking, and the opinions of previous people were all very solid. The location is in the city center and life is very convenient. There will be homeless people on the street, but it’s nothing in broad daylight. We often hear police sirens. In fact, it is normal in urban areas in the United States. They will be dispatched if anything happens, as if it is a big deal. I am quite satisfied that the room is large enough, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the nearby grocery shopping, subway, and shopping mall May's are only 5 or 6 minutes' walk away. The price is also reasonable, which is great!
