Lovely location right on the square in an old property. From our room we could see the castle.

We called for a light lunch whilst on the trail of King Richard III and were given a warm welcome by the host. All the food on offer was home made and absolutely delicious. I had mushroom soup and my son chose the soufflé. The pudding list looked most tempting - it would be worth going back just to try one of those! This old hotel has been given a tasteful makeover and the inside is clean and restful. The service was friendly and efficient. The Wensleydale Hotel restaurant is also called The Tack Room

We stayed for one night and it was a really lovely experience. Middleham is very quaint and beautiful. We loved seeing the race horses in the morning as we had breakfast. Breakfast was excellent- really good smoked salmon & scrambled eggs. The food the evening before was also of a high standard. I don’t usually sleep well in hotel beds but this was an exception. Lovely cosy room. We stayed as we were on our way to the Northern Antiques Fair in Leyburn and this was a good stopping point for that. Most of all there was great hospitality from the lovely man who checked us in and looked after us- sorry I didn’t get his name, but he made us feel very welcome. Decor was lovely too and everything was spotless. Just a really nice stay. Thank you.

A family run hotel overlooking the village square. Clean & helpful staff who are kean to please. EXCELLENT ! Very comfortable bed & ensuite bathroom. Antique shops in the village along with a general store 100m away for newspapers etc. Many racing horses are ridden through the village in the morning.

We had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning. The room was nice and spacious with very tasteful decor. We had trouble getting our TV to work and a member of staff called Monty couldn’t do enough to help us and had it working in no time. We had a very peaceful night’s sleep in a very comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and well organised. The owner Fiona was so hospitable and obviously takes great pride in ensuring people have a good stay. Can’t wait to go back soon!

A lovely small hotel with very friendly staff. A special mention for the bar man who was always smiling, friendly and helpful. Some aspects of the hotel look a little 'tired', but it didn't detract from our overall enjoyment. The restaurant serves decent food at a competitive price, service being very good. However, don't expect to have wine unless you don't mind paying over £30 a bottle. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.

What a fabulous find! Excellent food in a lovely dining room. A real quality find in the dales. I shall be looking to return with family for what would be a very comfortable stay I’m sure. The staff were relaxed and friendly- a credit to the hotels management. Whilst the cod main course easily outshone a very poor similar dish earlier in the week at Grantley Hall.

I had the most spectacular evening with friends at The Wensleydale Hotel. The food was exquisite and the staff were so very attentive and nothing was any trouble - I would highly recommend a visit - you will definitely not be disappointed. I had Twice baked Yellison goats cheese soufflé and Cod loin, roast tomato, shallot, olives, creamed potatoes and white chocolate crème brûlée
