As luck would have it, I booked the stay on the day the wildest rain storm in a decade hits Ottawa. I reached the hotel at 8PM that evening and found a pitch dark building with absolutely no lights. The front desk still checked me in manually and assigned the rooms on the top floor for me. Having no power, I had to haul all my luggage five floors up the stairs with no emergency lighting and stuffy stale air. Here are all the bad: - The property has NO backup generator, they only have a few handheld flashlights - Battery operated emergency stairwell lights are ALL not working, they end up leaving flashlights pointed upwards on the floor - No ventilation, no gym, no pool, windows doesn't open, no hot water, no working elevators, no wifi, doubt the smoke detectors are still working (this is a death trap situation) The Good: - Joanne at the font desk handled the situation with aplomb. totally unfazed by the difficult and annoyed guests. The technician who opens the room doors for us needs a mention as well. Calm, friendly and cool - Power returned around 7AM the next morning, they were able to serve up a decent breakfast. Appreciate that. Due to the fact there are no backup generators (to rub salt to the wound, the fitness complex next doors has full lighting and air con with their diesel generator humming away nicely way into the night), I would certainly not be choosing this venue in the future.

Our family of 4 needed a hotel near the airport between connecting flights so our expectation was not high. We always had good experience with other Hampton Inns so this was just an easy choice, assuming a known quality hotel and also close to the airport. The Good about this hotel - 1. close to airport 2. free shuttle (details to follow) 3. has a couple restaurants just across from the parking lot if you don't want to venture out too far 4. check-in was quick The Bad - 1. Free shuttle only starts at 6am so if you need to catch an early flight you'll need to find a taxi. In our case, we had to pre-book a taxi the night before because we needed to get to the airport at 4:30am. 2. The hotel shuttle was just a plain white van with no signs indicating it's for Hampton Inn. Driver was not in any kind of uniform and when I knocked on his window trying to inquire, he came out and yelled 'What's going on'. Well not exactly what I expect a hotel shuttle driver to identify himself that way. When I asked if he's from Hampton Inn the answer was yes. But in retrospect any random guy can give me the same answer and we just kinda need to trust that driver that he's a legitimate Hampton Inn shuttle driver. The whole short trip to the hotel we were wondering if we would end up getting mugged. Just not a good feeling and I think the hotel can handle this a lot better, how hard is it to give this driver an uniform with a hampton inn logo, or print a hampton inn logo on a piece of paper and put it on the dashboard. At least something to make your shuttle and driver look a little bit more legitimate and make your guests feel a little bit safer. 3. As mentioned earlier we pre-booked a taxi to pick us up at 4:15am, turns out the front desk forgot to book it for us. When we got down to the lobby and looked for the taxi, that's when the front desk guy realized he forgot about it. So we waited for another 10-12 mins for the taxi to come. (taxi fare from hotel to airport was less than $20) 4. Not all electric outlets are working, in our room the one attached to the side table lamp didn't seem to work. Had to search high and low to have enough outlets to charge 4 phones and 4 apple watches. The Very Bad - The mattress was the absolute worse, I have never stayed at a Hampton Inn that have mattresses that dip down about 2 inches and with no support whatsoever. I'm not a big person, but my husband is so the whole night I was sinking and rolling to my husband's side. All I needed was a few hours of sleep between flights and I could not get that because of the mattress. Tossing and turning the whole night and could not find a good position. My back was hurting the next day like I was sleeping on an absolute garbage mattress the night before. We did not use the free breakfast, coffee wasn't ready during our stay, no other amenities were used. The hotel is simply bad on all counts - cleanliness, sleep quality, unexplainable bill charges. But the main thing for me was that the cleaning staff came into our room when there was a “Privacy Please” sign on our door while we were out. I have been traveling for work since 2005, weekly, and the DND sign was always something that ensures your privacy in any hotel, any country I have been to. The funniest thing is that the hotel declared they would not be cleaning the room for the duration of my stay in the pre-arrival email, which made me happy, and then they still came in to clean it, despite the sign. I called the front desk immediately when I saw it, created a big issue, and they told me that the clean-up was requested and SHEDULED by me. I explained it was impossible and how upset I was, and guess what - NOTHING happened to make things better for us, absolutely nothing. The manager did not call to apologize, there was absolutely no reaction to this, pretty big in my opinion, issue. So yes, hotel folks, if you are reading this – I did bring it to the attention of the staff. Compared to that, the rest was not as outrageous, but still quite bad and generally important to the quality of the stay: - Cleanliness: When we arrived, the toilet seat was dirty, there was pubic hair in the shower and the shower gel dispenser was empty. I did not want anyone in my room, so I sanitized all impacted surfaces, decided to use the little soaps for the showers instead of the gel and moved on. Ironically, when they broke in to clean my room, they still did not fill up the shower gel! That made me laugh when I stopped crying. - Beds: As another review here mentioned, beds are terrible. It is like sleeping on a water bed, you can feel every little movement, and between that and the old pillows, you are lucky if you get any sleep at all. - Room charges: Unlike any other hotel, this one did not send the email with the bill on the morning of the departure. Naturally, after what I have been through there, I decided to check the bill before I leave instead of just leaving like we do. I had booked using points, so my bill was supposed to only have parking charges + tax. However, when I got the print out, there was an additional $38 CAD per night charge just called “Room”, which the front desk could not explain. The further the conversation went, the more defensive the front desk representative got, until eventually they angrily removed the charges. Not even an apology or any sign of regret that there was a mistake, but a whole lot of attitude and pushback on the paying customer who happens to also be a platinum elite at this chain. Still remains to be seen what ends up being on the credit card – I am seeing some strange charges in the ‘pending’ status. As I was coming down to get the bill, check it and leave, I was squirming as I was expecting to be asked ‘how was your stay’ as usual, and I would not have known what to say. “I told you how it was la

overall stay was completely good but this building does not have free parking, they charge you 22 dollars for underground parking or outside parking as well and no security for car they said car parking is always at owner's risk. thats only a negative point otherwise room was clean, no disturbance, breakfast was good.

Had a little wobble at the beginning, when the room I was given had a giant crack across the window; however the issue was resolved quickly and professionally. The replacement room was excellent and while the tv remote was non functional, I was able to have it swapped out quickly and with no fuss for a working remote. The restaurant was fine, and while a little pricey, was tasty. Cleanliness of all common areas and the room itself was top-notch. Next to the Ottawa airport, so super-convenient for travelers, and I never heard a thing from outside so the sound dampening is excellent. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel during our visit to Ottawa, surprisingly the rooms are quiet big. We got a twin queen size beds that could fit 4 people. There was a fridge in the room, which is a bonus. The bed was so comfy to my liking. The toilet was also huge and the shower was powerful. The cleanliness of the hotel and room was also good. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. Although, during check in there was some mistake from the receptionist, we requested few months ago a connecting room as were travelling with the family, but then she give the connecting room to other guest just 3 minutes upon we arrive. I think thats the only downside. There was a swimming pool in the hotel, but it's also under renovation that time. We were told we can use the neighboring hotels pool as complimentary, which few blocks away to walk. So we didnt use it. For the breakfast its not included on the prize, but you can purchase it in the hotel. It was actually a good breakfast and tastes good. There was a bar in the hotel which I recommend you try the Canadian beer its so refreshing and tastes good. The bar men even advise us places to visit on our next stop. I recommend this hotel, its so close to to parliament and tourist spots in Ottawa. Will definitely go back here in our next visit.

This was my first-time stay at reStays Ottawa. I booked four suites for a team business trip in April 2023 (2- and 3-night stays). Very glad to have chosen this hotel over my other go-to's! This is now my Ottawa favourite and I highly recommend it for the following reasons: - Value: Great for this calibre of amenities (spacious, new, clean, modern in-suite furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and thoughtful provisions, terrific meeting spaces, public amenities - what a view on the 12th floor). Comfortable bedding for several nights of good sleep. - Service: Front desk staff (Josh, Mark) were very helpful with our requests. - Location: Excellent! Short walking distance to Parliament, Rideau Centre, Byward Market, etc. Whether for short or longer stays, I highly recommend this gem of a downtown Ottawa hotel.

reservation for 3 nights, had to change room 3 times; AC did not work in 1st room, was offered a fan (which would just move the hot air around) not really a solution when its 31 degrees outside; had to insist to get room with working AC; was assigned another room for the rest of my stay; to my surprise the next morning was told I had to move again because the room had been rented last night for the next 2 days to someone else; had to get my things out before heading out for the day. Noticed a big chain wrapped around the handles of the front door, only access is through the back door. Thought I would give this place a chance, since I travel through Ottawa/Gatineau every few months; low price is not sufficient to entice me to go back. Good: room and bedding clean / mattress confortable / good water pressure and hot water Bad: Reception staff is confused and disorganized, the woman manning the desk on the 2nd day was curt, very unpleasant to deal with / very minimum breakfast option (i.e. only one type of tea offered, if you don't like Earl Grey, you are out of luck)

Overall this hotel is of good value with the cleanliness and proximity to downtown Ottawa. The hotel was opened to business in 2019. I redeemed from my Aeroplan for the 2 nights stay, and I paid $25/night for parking. Room - The room itself is clean with quite spacious bathroom. It is equipped with small fridge and there’s a microwave over the counter which is good. Amenities - it has a swimming pool and it’s clean with the adjacent patio and you can go outside which is good. It served complimentary breakfast with good selection of food. Plenty of seatings within the dinning area. Parking - OK but a bit tight in the parking stall however even it’s quite fully booked we are able to find parking. While we stayed I’ve found it interesting cleaning wasn’t done during the first night. The attendant made a mistake to our room and we ended up knocking the wrong room but it was an honest mistake I believed. What I’ve found it interesting though is right across diagonally across is a homeless shelter so just be prepared across the corner of the stress diagonally there’s a homeless shelter and be prepared for that. It didn’t bother me but you may end up having the room view of that depending on where your room is located. I’m sad to see so many of them and especially during the pandemic still seeing them on the street is a hit heartbreaking for me. This is a relatively new hotel and suitable for family and I’d recommend.
