The rooms are older and maybe not as fancy or contemporary as a Four Seasons or Hilton property, but if you're looking for a family friendly and safe budget-minded place that does its best to provide a great experience, then this is the one."

"Surprisingly Great Stay! Unique and Comfortable I really enjoyed my stay at the Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The atmosphere is unique and definitely something you don’t experience at a regular hotel — in a good way! The staff were friendly, the place felt safe, and the location was convenient for getting around Ottawa. Overall, it was a great stay and I would happily come back again. Highly recommend"

"Ottawa is very small, the hotel location is very convenient, also in the core area, about 20 minutes to the subway station. I saw that everyone commented that the facilities were old and I didn't think it was in the way. When I checked in, the swimming pool could not be used. The indoor one did not say that the reason was repaired. Second, the deposit pre-authorization requires 200 knives, the sound of the air conditioner in the room rumbling, quickly call the front desk to see, the little brother said that there is no way that it may be broken, and then whispered to me, or I asked the front desk if I could change a room. Dreams came, called the front desk, the front desk said to go upstairs to the same room type and wait for someone to send the key to change the room. Well, after waiting for 15 minutes, no one came, just take the floor phone to the front desk, and then the front desk said to wait for them to urge them, and then Shi sinks the sea and waits for 15 minutes. Well, go downstairs and ask the front desk, the one at the front desk, said in vain that she didn't receive the call, didn't say to change the room, said that the air conditioner was normal! She answered the phone, can the hotel phone call be elsewhere, originally it is not necessary to change, must waste customer time... This service attitude is a bit too greasy!"

"Excellent location and very clean rooms. Reasonable price in Ottawa. The only downside was that the beds were not too comfortable but its acceptable if you are not too picky."

"My mom and I stayed here, and the hotel's location right next to the train station was incredibly convenient. The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable – really good! Breakfast was a typical American style; though the selection wasn't huge, it was healthy and nutritious. Definitely recommend this hotel."

"The breakfast is very good. Although it is frozen fruit, it is also a good way for travelers to supplement fiber. The bed is a bit soft, which makes my back and waist sore. The room is simple but clean, and the bathroom is in good condition."

"Where to begin... first of all, when I made this booking, there was no mention whatsoever of HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION beginning every day at 7 a.m. Naturally upon checking in, I'm informed that there is intense construction happening right next door. And yes, it was brutal. I also SPECIFICALLY booked this hotel because there was an option to reserve now, pay at the hotel. Here are some direct quotes from my booking confirmation email: ”You'll need to pay upon check-in at Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” ”Your payment will be handled by Andaz Ottawa Byward Market, by Hyatt,” and ”Pay at Hotel.” Sure enough, I get there, and the money's already been taken out of my credit card and I owe nothing to the hotel upon check-in. (This matters for reimbursement purposes at the company I work for.) Lastly, I was told when I checked in that housekeeping would be visiting every third day -- that was fine by me. But the very first day, I come back to my room after a long day and someone's been there, replacing towels, removing the minimal garbage in there, etc., which I was not at all prepared for given that I was advised the opposite. It made me extremely uncomfortable because all of my personal effects were left throughout the room, not expecting housekeeping given that I was advised no housekeeping would be coming until the third day. I'll be honest, that creeped me out as someone travelling alone. The staff were apologetic but I didn't find their explanation at all sufficient. (The housekeeping manager and front desk attendant completely contradicted each other.) Overall, such a chaotic stay. Oh, and, the heat in my room didn't work. Had to request a space heater... I mean, c'mon."

"1. The breakfast options were very limited. A greater variety would significantly improve the experience. 2. One of the male reception staff members was quite rude. Staff should be polite, courteous, and welcoming—a simple smile can go a long way in creating a positive atmosphere. 3. It was disappointing to see that the welcome packet was only given to selected guests during check-in. This inconsistent treatment does not reflect well on guest service. 4. The location was not ideal, and the area outside the hotel felt unsafe, especially at night. 5. On a positive note, the room itself was very good—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. 6. The room servicing staff was very friendly"

"Room is spacious and clean! Very convenient location with parliament hill, byward market and a lot of dining spots nearby. Kitchen is fully equipped and well maintained. We will definitely come back in our next visit."

"We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights, they had issues checking us in as the booking was made through trip.com which went through *******. Somehow they figured it out later. The room was spacious, clean. They provided room services every day except for one day when they were understaffed. Shower has only half door so be ready for some splashes. I recommend bringing your own body wash (they provide soap which is hard to wash off) and shampoo. People who can't sleep with noise in the room, should consider their options. Air conditioning is super loud (like factory machine) , it constantly woke us up at night, there is no option to open a window instead. Breakfasts are always the same, not a single thing changes: fried/boiled eggs, sausages, pork?cutlets, pancakes, apples, oatmeal, bread. The dining room was always overcrowded, the space should be at least twice as big. Sometimes we came and there was no food, so we had to wait for someone to come and bring food (they don't have a person there on a regular basis). I can't say our experience was bad, but it was not great either."
