Perfect experience in this hotel. We saw elephant took a shower in the river. The room was big. The bed was very comfortable.

This is my first time to give a bad review to a hotel, I don’t want to give it even one star! Checking in with more than a dozen white people, I was the only Chinese person. The **** receptionist introduced each white person to me with a smile on his face for a long time, and completely ignored me who hadn't checked in yet. When he finally checked me in, his face looked like I owed him money. Whenever I asked him anything, he always seemed to be indifferent. The same thing happened at breakfast the next day. When he saw a white man, he greeted me warmly and introduced the breakfast. When he saw me, his face looked like he was turning the page in a book. He told me to sit down and left with the tone of ordering a servant. Because I have a lot of luggage and there is no elevator in the hotel, I asked him if he could ask the hotel staff to help me carry my luggage downstairs. He immediately pretended not to understand and even used Lao with the female staff next to him. They laughed at me, and in the end I carried the luggage downstairs by myself... I swear that I never behaved impolitely when communicating with them. If it weren't for the fact that it was too late to arrive at Beibin, the location was too remote, and it was raining heavily at the same time. , it is not convenient to change hotels, otherwise I would definitely change hotels immediately. In short, they are simply discriminating against Chinese people. Chinese people should be careful when entering this hotel! ! ! ! !

Great place, extremely relaxing in this month of April. Being outside the tourist season and in an extremely hot period we were able to take advantage of the swimming pool, great on the banks of the Mekong. It's actually not very far from the main street of Pakbeng. We were even able to see the elephants bathing opposite. If you stay long enough, go and spend some time at Mekong Elephant Park, it's a magnificent project.

If you are on the boat cruise down then stay here (and stay for two nights) in Pak Beng. The room we were in (upper floor of upper section) had the most amazing view. The photo does not do it justice. The rooms have a traditional, wooden Laos style which adds to the feeling this is more than a 3 star. The beds / mattresses are very comfortable and the room was clean and well appointed. The staff / service was excellent. Benoit (the manager) runs a tight ship and is attentive. He knew our names and made us feel welcome which is hard in a short stay hotel. The reason you must stay for two nights is to break up the cruise, enjoy Pak Beng and (most importantly) visit the Elephant Sanctuary. That was a highlight of our entire 3 week tour of Laos. Breaking up the river cruise takes a bit of planning (certain days work, certain others don't) but it's really worth it. There is a little pool at the hotel, which was perfect for us after the Elephant Sanctuary to just chill by. We were still jet lagged and this was a nice way to waste an hour on a hot afternoon. On a side note, the staff are all allowed to grow vegetables on the river front (great soil) and keep / sell the produce. It's actually lovely to see as they keep it so neat.
Response from Property: Dear ChrisM13691, Sabaidee. The whole team of Sanctuary Hotel joins me in thanking you selecting our hotel as the destination of your holidays and for taking the time to review us. We are delighted to have been able to bring you satisfaction. It is fundamental for us to satisfy our kind customers and we put all means to meet your expectations. Best regards, The Sanctuary Hotels & Resorts Team.

We stayed here for one night as we cruised down the Mekong from Pakbeng to Luang Prabang. The rooms had all amenities, safe, toiletries and fantastic view over Mekong. We had dinner which we really enjoyed and breakfast which we both enjoyed. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even collected us from boat and put our luggage into room. Thanks!
Response from Property: Dear Overs, Thank you for taking your time to leave such an inspiring feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. It's a great pleasure for us to know that you enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon! Best regards, The Sanctuary Hotels & Resorts Team.

I was taking the slow boat down the Mekong from Hauy Xai to Luang Prabang and I had an overnight stay at Pakbeng. What a wonderful surprise it was to find myself at the Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge. I wish that I’d stayed 2 or 3 more nights. It was so magical waking up to a view of the Mekong, the beautifully tended market garden on the grounds below my room and the elephants doing their morning thing just across the river. It’s the perfect spot to disappear from the world for a few days.

We did an overnight here on a river trip to the northern Thai border from Luang Prabang. It is a really lovely spot with intoxicating sunset views down on to the Mekong and a very peaceful ambience. The staff made our stay very comfortable and seamlessly facilitated the transfer to and from the boat, including providing a delicious packed breakfast. If anything, I would have chosen to stay an extra few nights here to relax and visit nearby sights like the elephant conservation centre. There is not much to see in Pak Beng town - just a few shops and restaurants but it is an interesting stopover for anyone travelling along the Mekong.

We loved: - The reception area and the restaurant. The reception and restaurant at the Sanctuary is just a wonderful space. We hung out in the area after we arrived and were treated to a phenomenally beautiful sunset over the Mekong River. Drop dead gorgeous. We had the Laotian menu at the restaurant, and it was quite good. We didn't love: - The bed. The most uncomfortable beds I slept on in 6 weeks in Southeast Asia, with just a single thin pillow. Horrible night's sleep. - The smell coming from the toilet. It was really foul. - The condition of the doors in front of the room. The were not flush, and there was a large gap between them. Would have been possible for mosquitos to fly in, and maybe small reptiles to get into the room. We requested a different room and fortunately the hotel manager was able to get us one. - Breakfast. It really left something to be desired.

This was a great option in Pak Beng. The hotel sits up above the river with a lovely view of Mekong at sunset. The rooms were large and with complete bathrooms at a western standard. There was Laos coffee in the rooms which we have not found elsewhere. The communal area is well set up. Breakfast was a little simple but sufficient. The large market garden below the hotel towards the river added a bit of local character.

After a very relaxing boat trip, we arrived at the hotel in Pak Beng from Luang Prabang. We were picked up at the boat and welcomed to the hotel with a drink. Our room was spacious and luxurious. A little later, we enjoyed a cocktail our room balcony while watching the sunset. There is also a sunset terrace with stunning views over the Mekong. Dinner included a choice of local and western dishes with vegetables from the hotel's own garden. That vegetable garden is very special. Villagers are allowed to grow vegetables on the fertile land ***** of the river bank in front of the hotel. The hotel buys the vegetables they need for the restaurant and they may keep and sell what’s left to others. Part of the hotel's proceeds go to the Mekong Elephant Park on the other side of the Mekong. The many good things the hotel does for local people makes the luxury you can afford as a tourist feel good. Thanks Mr Benoît and friendly staff!

Outstanding experience! Location is breathtaking with marvelous views on the Mekong river. The restaurant with the Lao-French-Fusion cuisine above our expectations. And the free & easy shipment of my left behind items was the icing on the take. We will come back and highly recommend the Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge Katrin & Bruno Room: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

We were in room 2 upstairs. Great view up and down the Mekong, especially at sunset. The room was spacious, good plug situation. Filling dinner and breakfast available, coffee at 6:30! Be sure to walk into town for the morning market. Drinking water provided
