Hôtel Opéra Liège

Paris|1.02km from Chapelle des Soeurs Auxiliatrices
We stayed in this hotel for one night on September 12, 2022, after driving back to Paris from Brittany, as we had an afternoon flight scheduled back to the U.S on September 13, 2022. On arriving , we were given room 101, which appeared significantly smaller than the room size we had booked. When I pointed this out to the front desk staff, we were offered a larger room, 110, which did appear to be the room type we had intended to have when we had made our reservation. The hotel is stylish, pleasant, and clean. The breakfast is good. The staff members we encountered while there were cordial. Despite the above, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. When I checked email the morning after returning to the US, I received an email saying that the hotel had charged my credit card an additional fee of 250 Euros because the cleaner had encountered a strong smell of smoking in the room after we left. The message also stated that I was informed of this on registration. It was signed ” Regards Ines B”. Neither of us EVER smoke. In fact, we found the amount of smoking we encountered in France in general, unpleasant even when sitting outside. The fact that hotel put through this charge without communicating with me to see whether what the cleaner said was true or whether the room in which the cleaner encountered the supposedly strong odor of smoking was in fact the room we stayed in, was and remains infuriating. I spoke to the manager, Ms. Conan, later on September14, 2022. . At first, she kept insisting that the hotel was correct in making this charge, and that there had been smoking in the room. Eventually, as we spoke , I think she did come to believe me that we had not smoked in the room. To her credit, she remained polite during the call despite my being extremely angry and raising my voice. She did reverse the charge and send an email apologizing for what happened. I hope no one else has a similar experience at this hotel, or anywhere. To come home to find you have been charged 250 Euros without your knowledge, for an infraction you did not commit, for indulging in habit that is personally offensive to you, is galling, to say the least. Therefore: BEWARE! .

Hotel d'Amiens

Paris|1.39km from Chapelle des Soeurs Auxiliatrices
We were very pleasantly surprised with this 3-star budget hotel in the 10th Arrondisement of Paris. Our party of two had booked a twin room for three nights, with one guest only staying for one night due to travel circumstances. Here’s what we liked about the hotel: 1. The room was extremely spacious, with two double beds which were very comfortable. 2. The interior presentation of the room was fairly contemporary, decorated in a shade of pale grey with accents of maroon. A large window bathed the room in light; there were appropriate black-out curtains for a comfortable sleep. 3. The room was street-facing, but the street is not a main road and the noise level was negligible. 4. The room was spotlessly clean, and smelt fresh. 5. The bathroom was very spacious. Towels were changed daily. Some basic toiletries were provided though we always travel with our own. The shower area needed a shower curtain to contain the spray, as the water tended to go everywhere. 6. A kettle, and sachets of tea and coffee were provided in the room. 7. Breakfast is provided at an additional charge in a small dining room beside the Reception area; we did not have breakfast at the hotel. 8, The hotel offered good wifi with easy connectivity and reasonable download speed. There were ample power sockets for charging devices. 9. Reception staff were courteous and welcoming; the Reception area appeared to be staffed all the time. 10. The hotel is budget friendly, the daily room rate is good value for the standard of accommodation provided. 11. The hotel is in a good location. It’s equidistant between Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est; both mainline stations and their Metro stations are no more than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The heart of Montmartre is a 30 minute walk away. The only thing we didn’t particularly like about the location of the hotel was the the plethora of young males gathering around in the streets in the afternoon and evening, trying to discreetly sell you cigarettes and other goods. Hotel guests just need their wits about them when walking to the stations, and to make sure belongings and wallets and purses are safe. We would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Montmartre
We stayed in this hotel for one week. Situated in the rue Houdon, it is close to the Butte de Montmartre, Abbesses, Pigalle and the city centre. There are 3 Metro stations within easy walk (Pigalle, Abbesses and Averns) with good 'bus connections. The Basilica du Sacre Coeur and Place du Tertre are close by. Staying here you are close to the shopping area, with high-end shops and supermarkets within easy each. Our room was small but very, very clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a fantastic shower. Reception is 24/7 - nothing is too much trouble for them, from organising a kettle to recommending a hairdresser. We shall be going back again! (Some say that the street can be noisy at night - this is Montmartre, so some noise is to be expected. The hotel is still worth staying at and you'll have difficulty finding as good value anywhere in this area).

Montmartre
It’s 9 euros early, it’s a bit expensive. The biggest advantage of the hotel is the nearly three subway lines. It takes only a few minutes to get to the subway station. It takes only three or forty minutes to go to the main museums and attractions. Next to it is a road to the Sacred Heart of Montmartre. In the evening, the surrounding environment is a bit mixed, and there are many nightclubs, but as long as you pay attention to safety and do not reveal property, return to the hotel at 11 or 2 o'clock, and there are people on the street bar drinking and chatting on the roadside, it is still safe.

We loved this aparthotel. An amazing location and the perfect accommodation solution for 5 fabulous days in Paris. Having a fully stocked kitchenette with a coffee machine was just what we wanted. The location in the middle of Montmartre close to dangerously fabulous patisseries and eclectic shops perfect.

Pigalle
The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast had a decent choice and served in the beautiful dining room. The suite was a perfect size for 3 people and beds were very comfortable. Excellent soundproofing in the room blocked out any street noise and we all got a good night's sleep for the 5 nights we were there. The air conditioning was great in our suite, so in the middle of Paris heatwave, it was brilliant to get back each day, to find our room thouroughtly cleaned and at a cool 18 degrees! Location of Hotel Rochechourt was good too, and only 5 minutes from Pigalle Metro station for seeing the rest of the city. We would definitely return.

Montmartre
Just returned from a lovely weekend at the Timhotel, Montmartre. Have used this hotel many times when in Paris but this is my first visit back in 7 years. Situated in a beautiful square with nearby restaurants and cafes and near to Sacre Coeur. The area was very busy being Easter weekend but nothing detracts from the splendour of the area. The bedroom was small, quite normal for the area, but functional. The bed was so comfortable, with quality pillows and bedding. Lovely en suite bathroom. We didn’t use the hotel for breakfast and tried different cafes where there was an average price of ten euros. The area, like most of Paris, isn’t cheap when it comes to food and drink but still very much worth the money just for the ambience and the sheer pleasure of being in Montmartre! I have to thank all of the hotel reception staff that we met on this visit - kind, helpful, every one. After a bit of a slog from Charles de Gaulle airport by train into Gare de Nord then taxi up to the hotel, we decided to opt for a taxi transfer on the way back and this was arranged by hotel reception without a problem. Well worth it in my opinion. In closing I would highly recommend the Timhotel and again thank the staff for a fabulous stay in Paris.

Montmartre
Very charming hostel in the midst of Montmartre, at the foot of Sacre Cœur. The personnel speak French as well as English and are very helpful. There are both single rooms and dormitory and a small kitchen if you want to cook. A special secret is the outside terrasse on the first floor for both a calm breakfast and for meeting other guests in the evening!
