Paris 14th arrondissement-Observatoire Hotels

I have tried to base my review on the factors which the hotel (hostel) does have control of and ignore the views of other guests. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful speaking fluent English. We got some free towels (normally chargeable) and a room to store our luggage on our last day. The public areas are clean and tidy with a classy uniform wallpaper design throughout. We didn’t take any food instead opting to use the nearby Lidl for croissants and baggets although I think it was an option. The rooms were small with a sink, blackout blind, opening window, functional bed and an uncontrollable vent. There were four showers and three toilets per floor for communal use. The flat roof outside the window was strewn with rubbish (condom packet one of the more unpleasant), the bed was comfortable without being anything more there was no mattress protector (so I can understand the basis for other reviews) and the vent was continuously noisy - good job we were tired! The showers were clean and powerful if not a little too hot, the toilets however were often reduced to one as they were blocked and unsanitary. The area outside is the bottom end of pooville (I can’t use other language) arriving my heart sank although I was aware the outskirts of Paris are often questionable for tourists, it isn’t an area I’d want to be alone in at night. The reason for us booking here was the availability of a car park. The parking is two basement levels immediately below the hostel (not clear on booking) accessible by foot through a number of (broken) QR code security doors with nobody answering the intercom. The car exit had a metal gate and the entry a barrier so overall I guess very secure! but it is disgusting which doesn’t give you a feeling of security. Leaking pipes and a stench of urine in the stairwell complemented with walls covered in I don’t want to know what! It’s not luxury, it’s functional. You are in an (expensive) capital city and you pretty much get what you pay for, you’ve got to adjust your expectations. It was a good base for our two day trip in the city via a twenty minute metro ride.

We stayed at GW for two nights. Montparnasse station and Danfer Rochelow station are about 13 minutes walk. Since the airport bus departing and arriving at Montparnasse station is gone, it is very convenient to be able to go to the airport without changing by RER from Danfer Rochelow station. The subway is about 8 minutes from Gete Station. Since it is a hotel on a big street, the surroundings are bright and you are not afraid to walk at night. Moreover, it is quiet at night. It is convenient because the monoprix grocery store near Montparnasse station is open until 23:40. One of the male staff at the front desk was surprised that he was good at Japanese. In addition, he was very kind. Breakfast is served with baguettes and petit size croissants, pan o chocolate, pan orezan in a basket. The baguette was delicious. Drinks can be served in a pot with coffee, tea or chocolate. Orange juice is also available. Then there are a few kinds of shelves of Financier, yogurt, jam and cheese. I thought I would go out to eat if breakfast was too much, but it was enough. Due to the depreciation of the yen, the hotel in Paris for the first time in 4 years was very expensive, and I was worried about where to stay, but I chose this place and it was the correct answer. There is a classic elevator and the rooms are large enough. There is no refrigerator in the room, but it was a very good hotel considering the price.

Participating in the French Financial Payment Exhibition, which is relatively close to the exhibition hall. The price is also relatively affordable. The exhibition will be our reference hotel every year in the future. Hope the price is more favorable.

Stayed here for 7 nights for our holiday in Paris. Service was great from check in to concierge to helping us open wines we bought outside. The concierge helped me to book the taxi to CDG, smooth and reliable. Our family room was spacious, and offered a great view to the Latin Quarter. Comfortable beds and well designed bathroom is exactly what we needed after long days in museums. The location was very convenient. Only 3 mins walk to Montparnasse station, and there is super market 1 minute away, which opens as early as 7am.

I really liked it, the hotel is located in the old building, our room was on the last (7) floor with a balcony. The spiral staircase goes upstairs and there is an elevator (did not work for 2 days). Very good breakfast - hot dishes - omelet, bacon, sausages, different pastries, muesli, flakes, fruits, vegetables, cheese, yogurt, coffee tea, cocoa., pleasant service and cleaning every day. Very quiet. The metro stop is very close, bakeries and shops, cafés, pharmacies - all nearby.

Simple, full-featured, excellent location, polite and enthusiastic customer service, I almost fell asleep drinking Chinese tea in the lobby when I returned to the hotel in the afternoon😉

Kleines Touristenhotel mit rund 25 Zimmern. Das Hotel liegt in 2 Min. Fussweg zur U-Bahnstation Pernety, was sehr praktisch ist. Die Zimmer im Hotel sind jedoch sehr klein. In unserem Zimmer hatte es kaum eine Ablagefläche, geschweige denn einen richtigen Schrank. Rund um das Bett 30 - 80 cm, das wars… Die Dusche war ok; für die Duschkabine darf man aber keine Platzangst haben. Eine enge Treppe führt in die Obergeschosse; der Lift ist ebenfalls klein. Der grösste Mangel im Hotel ist aber der Frühstücksraum. Für eine solche Anzahl Hotelzimmer nur 22 Sitzplätze -＞ das genügt einfach nicht. Es kann nicht sein, dass man morgens um 8.30 Uhr zum Frühstück will und dann fast eine Stunde in der Hotel-Lobby warten muss. Das Frühstück selber ist relativ spartanisch. Das Hotelpersonal dürfte auch freundlicher und kompetenter sein, angefangen bei Receptionspersonal bis hin zur Bedienung im Frühstücksraum. Alles in allem kann man dort bei einem Städtetrip übernachten - bedingungslos empfehlenswert, na ja….

the staff and all was very professional, unfortunately I got a room next to the entrance of the hotel, with continuous noise from people coming and going until 1:30am with people being very loud, difficult to have a good sleep for a first night with jet lag

It's safe and quiet in an alley by the road

An excellent hotel for my weekend in Paris. Situated in a bustling area with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés and with all modes of transport on the doorstep for when you want to explore the city. The room was modern, clean and quiet with a super-comfortable bed. Toilet and shower room were squeaky clean and fully equipped with everything you'd need. Continental breakfast at €10 was fresh, plentiful and delicious, as good as any of the nearby patisseries. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly and made me feel very welcome as a solo female traveller. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel as an ideal base to stay when visiting and exploring Paris. It's far better than the 2 Stars it's rated at. (Coffee making facilities in the room would have made my stay 5 🌟)
