Second stay at this amazing hotel. It's beautiful, rooms are amazing. Food incredibly good. Staff are so helpful and polite, can't do enough for you. Breakfast is a total delight as is the room it is served in. I strongly recommend this hotel, just stunning.

Great place to stay. Every room has en-suite facilities and is very comfortable with good internet and Sky TV for relaxing at night. I stay here most weeks for a few night for work reasons. Ideally situated in Penrith, close to the center and in walking distances to everything you would need. On the door step to the Lakes and situated in a lovely area of Cumbria. The owners are the best part of staying here. They make it feel like home, especially when I work away so much. Nothing is too much trouble and they are just lovely to have a conversation with. When other guests arrive you see them putting smiles onto the guests face, and ideally that the true experience anyone wants when staying away from their home - to feel welcomed, comfortable and safe. Brilliant place to stay, simple as.

Stayed here several times, even a couple of times when they had only just re opened following each of the Covid lockdowns and always enjoyed, had a fab welcome and the rooms are clean. Not saying its perfect for everyone as some of you will not be a fan of the gold and red decor in the rooms , reception and corridors. But its not shabby its just old fashioned. The bathrooms are moden and the bar and restaurant have had a face lift with a not ultra moden colour scheme of cream and blue but it suits the building style. Dont expect spa, gym or pool and dont expect room service or cocktails. But you will always get a warm and friendly welcome and service. The setting is off the beat and track , but worth finding this gem, at the side of the woods , with stream running over waterfall and rock oh and keep your eyes peeled for red squirrels. Food is good at breakfast though no veggie sausages which some did complain about, food is good value in the evening though a limited choice of 4 starters 4 mains and 4 puds including a veggie option. Yorkshire portions for the main and loads of veg. Bar prices higher than pub prices but not that bad for a hotel.

Outstanding, I had a superb stay ,the George is unique Whilst, having a timeless aspect ,magnificent historic building it has modern features, and aspects,that make it very comfortable. The best hotel experience, I have had for year's, I am looking forward to staying again, a perfect end to my Christmas break.

Most places were fully booked and twice the price (at least) , I only needed to stay one night, £60 room only with plenty of places to walk to for food if needed, room was clean and spacious (some reviews say it’s dated) erm probably to do with the fact it’s a really old building- clean comfortable bed and clean bathroom, within easy reach of everything- no parking but the owner will direct you to parking straight across from the hotel that was no problem at all - I will stay here again - thanks
