RIBEIRA by YoursPorto

Very nice apartment in the old town within walking distance of bars, restaurants, river front, train station, churches and museums. Breakfast was delivered every morning and was substantial. Cooker, microwave, coffee machine and fridge also present. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Fantastic view over the roof tops towards the river Douro. While we were there...September...they were just putting the finishing touches to an outside pool and bathing area...unfortunately not quite ready for us to make use of.
Jardim da Batalha Boutique Hotel by Shiadu

Loved this hotel!. Private balcony overlooking the garden in the older building--stone walls and lots of room. I had stayed at the Casa do Jasmin Boutique Hotel in Lisbon, also a Shiadu hotel; they sent me to this hotel with a note written in Portuguese--I think they asked the management to give me a very nice room! (They are in the process of slip-proofing the showers--if that hasn't been done in your room yet, ask for a mat--the surface is VERY slippery.) I had to leave early in the morning before breakfast, and they sent me off with a boxed meal. Walked everywhere from this hotel, close to the Guindais Funicular. Be sure you walk down Rua das Flores and visit the Palacio da Bolsa and its Arabian Room. Next door is the Wine Institute, the regulatory body for all wine in Portugal, where you visit the beautiful exhibit and sample various types of Port. Take the river ferry over to Gaia and visit the port storage houses and exhibits there. AND DON'T FORGET THE CHOCOLATE MUSEUM!
Porto Music Guest House

This B&B was chosen for our stay in Porto due to the great reviews and the price point it came out at. Check-In, We were warmly greeted by our host for our short stay in Porto. We had an explanation about orientation of the city and our room with a glass of port in hand. Room, We we allocated Room 1 on the first floor. This beautiful high ceiling floor comes with all the amenities for a stay. The room was found in nipping clean condition with also a small balcony overlooking the modern ‘Casa Da Musica’. The bathroom is small but nonetheless very functional with a walk-in shower. Breakfast, Breakfast was a buffet style affair with enough choices to start the day. The lady who serves breakfast, kindly made us some breakfast early on our last morning due to our early train back to Lisbon. Staff, A very personable B&B who’s staff made us very welcome. Overall, An excellent great value stay in Porto. It is easy to reach which several bus stops nearby with ‘Casa Da Musica’ tram station a 5-10 minute walk away. The location is a little outside of town, but within easy reach by public transport. There are modernisation works happening nearby with regards public transport so when these are finished, access will be even easier. A lovely stay….

I stayed at this hotel last year and the experience was very positive. This year had to return and my first choice was to book again. The hotel is very central and allows you to get everywhere. The staff is amazing, from reception to the restaurant they were all amazingly friendly and attentive. I must say that last year i was served by Carla Teixeira and this year when i went down for breakfast, was served again by this amazing lady. She has the most positive attitude and is very helpful with everyone, i ve asked her for a recommendation where to get a birthday cake made for the same day and she gave the best recommendation.

DO NOT GET ROOMS 51, 41, 31, 21 (next to elevator) otherwise worth a stay. This is a good hotel. However having been here twice, some notes for fellow travelers. - If you are light sleeper like me, DO NOT get any rooms 51 and so on next to the elevators. WOW it is not stop intermittent mechanical noise night and day. - Try and get a top floor room with a terrace. The other rooms are not bad, yet they have the wood flooring that looks cool and works fine, yet when house keeping starts their clean ups, they slide the beds over the wood which makes for more noise if you are trying to sleep in late. - Bed is comfortable, bathroom is sizable, but not too large. - Hotel is very new-school contemporary. - Breakfast is good. Coffee machine is the usual auto job, whatever… - House keeping could be bit more detail focused. There was a smashed bug on the wall near the bed. No big deal, yet a simple wipe with a sponge would have covered that.
Belver Beta Porto Hotel

Good generous portion size food served by very friendly waiters. Wine also good and reasonable price. The Salmon dish was superb. Good size pool. Location 10-15 minute bus ride from outside hotel into town. All part of the experience.Room clean and no musty smell as reported by other reviewers. Couldn't fault at all. Several groups from Japan, Holland etc stay here for one night but eat at one end of restaurant. Airport 30 mins away by taxi.
