We recently stayed at the Auberge Place D'Armes for a week in June and loved it! The hotel is located in the center of all the activity in the downtown area, you can not get a better spot. The hotel was a bit quirky due to its age, but for us that just added to the charm and history was one of the reasons we went to Quebec. The room was updated nicely and the bed comfortable, the lighting inside was great it was very clean. The hot tub in our room was not working properly so the management generously granted us a complimentary breakfast for our entire stay. If you stay there make sure to eat at the restaurant, it is exceptional particularly for breakfast. The trout platter was one of the the finest breakfast dishes I have every had.

Great find. Very central position. Quirky rooms. Very clean. Restaurant great with fantastic breakfasts. Staff friendly and helpful. Can’t find a fault really. No elevator don’t book if knee problems. Great aircon when required. No parking but loads nearby - nothing is very far. Would come again. We were in room 5 - quirky and comfortable.

I selected this hotel because of its prime location and the rooms looked like they had the character and charm that I was hoping for in a hotel in old Quebec City. The hotel delivered on both those requirements, so we were very happy. The one negative was that we found the mattress to be extremely firm and therefore did not sleep comfortably.

Great little boutique hotel with old world charm and modern amenities. I would definitely recommend this hotel for location. Everything’s in walking distance and there’s a restaurant down stairs and also all around the hotel. I had a very enjoyable stay. I would not recommend this hotel though for older people and those in wheelchairs or can’t walk. There are no elevators and the stairs are steep and twisty. You have to carry your luggage up. You have to go up and down staircases every day so you need to be in pretty good shape.

There are significant pros and cons to this review: On the pro side: The hotel is in a location that can’t be beat, unique rooms, very clean and comfortable. On the con side: We had to park almost a mile away (0.8 miles). The nearby parking lot was full and also couldn’t handle a larger vehicle. The front desk is almost never staffed. They gave us a phone number to call if we needed anything, but there was no answer at this number! Housekeeping did not service our room, which was fine, though we needed more towels, and again, no one could be found. I’d stay here again, but would look elsewhere just to see what else is available.

We liked the unique nature of each of the rooms in this Auberge, and its proximity to all the sights in old Quebec City. We would certainly return to this same location in the future, and would recommend it to others.

Perfect location. Clean and welcoming. Amazing staff. So friendly and helpful. We stayed in Room 2, the Marie Antoinette room. Loved it. And only a short set of stairs to climb. We recommend this room for those concerned about no elevator.
The ONLY concern was the slight sewer odour that came through the bathroom sink drain. Other than that, we loved it here! We’ll be back FOR SURE!
