I ended up being overcharged by $90, and the staff was unprofessional about it. I observed other guests being overcharged as well. We booked a package with breakfast included for two, but it wasn’t fully included. The provision was $22 per person per day, which doesn’t cover breakfast for two. Additionally, I wasn’t informed that the credit system works on a daily basis rather than for the entire stay. Although my wife and I checked in together, only one person was registered with the room and received the allocation. This is shady business practices and serious penny-pinching by Hilton. They also lack transparency about how the resort fee works and how it can be redeemed at the restaurant. When I rightfully questioned the excess charges, the staff gave me dirty looks. I was given a paper with numerous unclear charges, seemingly to confuse me. After doing the math in my head, the charges didn’t add up. None of the staff appeared to have proper hospitality training. This was my third stay at this place, and it will be my last. Despite the renovations, it’s not worth it. The breakfast quality was poor; we ordered granola that mentioned banana, but we were served random fruits instead. When we pointed this out, the waiter unprofessionally said they didn’t have bananas that day, without informing us when we ordered. To top it all off, self-parking costs $39 per night, with no staff to help with luggage. You can park 100 feet from the hotel on the street for free; it’s La Jolla, not downtown. Terrible experience, and I will never stay at a Hilton again.
