The resort is an insider tip. It is run by a German. The bungalows are top notch (cleanliness and comfort), the breakfast is very plentiful and tasty a la carte and includes everything from Thai to western dishes. The beach belonging to the resort is kept clean by the staff. The complex has a beautiful garden with local plants. Dinner is also a la carte and everything from tasty traditional Thai dishes to currywurst is available. I was there for 4 weeks and really relaxed.

Located north of Songkhla, a city with a historic old town, this hotel offers everything you need for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The province of Songkhla is in the south of Thailand and is very original and nowhere near as crowded as Phuket and similar seaside resorts in Thailand. The hotel complex is located in a tropical garden with palm trees and consists of several buildings. We had a bungalow with a small living room, a bathroom, a dressing room and a bedroom. The rooms are simply and functionally furnished. There is a refrigerator, air conditioning and two TVs, which we did not use as there were almost only local channels. There is also a covered veranda with a table and chairs. The complex has a freshwater pool and a beach by the sea with trees that provide shade. The hotel's beach section is cleaned daily. There are enough beach chairs available. The kilometer-long beach is mostly natural and unfortunately covered with a lot of flotsam (only outside the hotel). The hotel restaurant is also on the beach. The food is excellent. In addition to Thai dishes, there are also pasta, burgers and pizza. They even offer currywurst with chips. All of the dishes were very tasty without exception. A big compliment to the chefs. The BBQ is highly recommended. If you wish, you can also order dishes outside the menu. We pre-ordered a whole fish one time and lobster another time. Breakfast is served in the main building. Here too, the selection ranges from Thai dishes to eggs of all kinds, homemade bread and jam, muesli with yoghurt and fresh local fruit. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Not everyone understands English, but with a little goodwill you can communicate. The heart of the resort is the German-born manager Uwe. He does everything to ensure that his guests are happy and satisfied. During our 14-day stay, a cooking class for Thai dishes, a trip to Songkhla, a motorbike tour to a temple, a boat trip on the nearby lake and a visit to the market with detailed explanations of the food on offer were organized. Uwe knows how to introduce his guests to one another, drinks a beer with them in the evening after work and gives tips and advice about the country and its people. He gets minor problems resolved quickly. It's no wonder that some of the hotel guests who were there at the same time as us were already staying at the resort for the third time. We also really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back to the AO Thai Resort.
