I deliberately booked a hostel because I was traveling by myself and wanted to meet other people. The only people I met was the cleaning woman and the desk clerk/manager. There is no common area whatsoever. The rooms are small, basic, and clean. Everything is electronic - 2 codes to get into the front door and the same code to get into your room. I reserved through Booking and arrived to find the front door locked. I tried calling the phone number listed on my reservation, but no one answered. The desk person at the hotel around the corner called another number that she had and the manager appeared about 10 minutes later. He said he had texted the code to my husband's cell, but he never received it (I listed my husband's phone # because I didn't know what my temporary Vodafone # would be). The location is great - just off a main street (no noise inside the unit) and near several restaurants and the train station.
