Crowne Plaza Shanghai Nanjing Road Reviews

This is the 2nd time I’m here. The 1st, I paid a rate of around 750 rmb per night. I got a really nice room on the 22nd floor, with a separate sitting area, 2 tv sets and a big and beautiful bathroom. This second time, the price was 920 rmb which I paid anyway due to the good previous experience. On my way to Shanghai, I noticed I had an offer on my app for 720 rmb for the same hotel. Which seemed unfair and even a lack of transparency. I told the clerk that checked me in. He said prices change everyday, but he’d give me a free upgrade. The room I got was half the size of the one I was given the first time, except it had a huge bed that could easily fit 5 people (I was traveling alone). The bathroom, was well-equipped but half the size of the first. The cherry of the cake was the towels. They were clean but very old (see picture). I only wonder what I would have been given if I had not gotten a “free upgrade”?

Great service from the start, and a special call out to commend Starry Cui who made the check in smooth and seamless. She took the effort to ease my check out too when she anticipated my short layover, and removed all the possible chargeable frills to quicken my check out the day after. Very convenient location, just around the bustling Nanjing Pedestrian Street. The only gripe is the stale cigarette smell even though it’s a non-smoking room.

the location is absolutely perfect. the hotel itself is a little bit old but classy. they have english soeaking staffs so easy for us to communicate.

Wi fi in my rooms had no signal. Many troubles to connect. I had to stay in the hall. Breackfast medium level

Disappointed by my stay. I chose a this hotel in order to have at least an almost perfect stay experience but I am disappointed. Chose another hotel nearby the next day After a long flight, upon arrival in the room no liquid body soap upon arrival, informed the front desk and they said they would send someone. (Used shampoo instead and went for a meeting) Upon returning tired, soap was not filled up unfortunately. Had to call front desk again. Their junior suite photos on the site didn't match the room. Some things were different. They should upgrade the photos. The AC is not strong enough. Location is good. That's what I enjoyed

Staff were nice and helpful. Room was clean but dated though. Amenities were good. Location excellent, exit and you are at Nanjing Road East, the heart of shopping. 20 mins walk to Bund. 10 mins to metro.

The crowne plaza was an unbelievable stay. I booked two rooms, one for my parents and another for my family. We made a special request, which was accommodated, for a room without carpets. The hotel was perfect. My parents had no problem moving around in the vicinity and could easily communicate with the staff (in English) if they needed anything. This has been my 4th time staying at Crowne Plaza and my experience keeps on getting better. Amazing sights walking distance from the hotel. Just perfect!

Overall hotel was ok. But was too old style . Lighting was very low . It looked dark overall. Reception needs revamping as sofa was already worn out at reception and no proper seating was there . Asked reception to install Muslim shower but they refused . No halal food option in breakfast .english bread and croissants were of very bad quality . Usually yogurt was finished if you go a bit late . Food ill rate 6/10 ,ambiance 5/10, room interior 5/10 ,room cleanliness 7/10.

Had a great stay here with my 79 year old dad who was visiting from the US. The check in process was easy and the staff were accommodating. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom had soap, lotion, shampoo, etc, containers. There was a full soaking tub and separate shower. I was pleased with the shower mat that could be used in the shower. The material and absorbancy of the towels were great. My dad was very pleased with the comfort of the bed after such a long flight, as was I. Likewise, he was exceptionally pleased with the buffet breakfast as there were many delicious options, mostly Chinese style, but plentiful and again delicious. Though, there is a lot to see just outside the door, we didn't explore as we were only there for one night. I highly recommend staying at this Crowne Plaza location as I would stay again. Also, just a short walk to the People's Corner metro stop.

Hotel location is convenient to nanjing road and near to train station. Cigarettes smell when entering to the room, we request front desk change room for us and immediately get a new room at higher floor. Although room decoration slightly old style but size bigger than expected. We put our luggage at lobby after check out and come back two times to keep some items into luggage after shopping, staff are so helpful to move in & out our luggage for our convenience. Overall satisfied stay.
