Hotels in Bencoolen, Singapore

Folks and I stayed a night at Hotel Mi Rochor. Prompt and fuss free check-in and we got our rooms on the same level as requested. Though the room was fairly small, but it's really adequate for two guests even with luggage. Beds and pillows were firm and clean, to our likings. Both rooms were really clean and there's an additional tap for premium drinking water, and there's kettle available for warm water and hot beverages. The toilet/shower is small, but the tap/sink is situated outside the toilet, so that's convenient. It was pouring the whole day, but that didn't deter us from heading out. I overheard that the hotel doesn't provide any umbrellas, but you can purchase raincoats/umbrellas at the 7-11 situated right next to the hotel. We had ours, and we headed out for our lunch and dinner at Waterloo and Bugis areas, just 5 - 10 minutes walk away. Rochor mrt station is just next to Hotel Mi, so we could also reach Marina/Suntec area within 5 minutes. I like this location as it's just walking distance to the main streets for F&B/shoppings/sightseeing activities, but yet we are away from the noise and buzz. So we could have good quiet early rest.

Repeat visitor but this time, room grouting mold was very visible and clearly not removed when room decor was refreshed under new owner Ascott. 2 minor room complaints not taken care of either so minus 3 stars; add 1 star for prompt service recovery from night duty manager

The location is very good, it's opposite to a metro station and close to a large food court. The most I like was I arrived quite early and they offered us an early check-in without on-top payment. I appreciated this very much cos I had time to prepare myself before went out for attending an event. About the room it's a bit small but they provided eveything that guest need. By the way there was a small tropical plant side yard outside our room..I love it.

Staff is not friendly, no smiling greeting upon approaching. Booking with breakfast, but not reflecting in their system. Every morning have to explain to the restaurant staff that I did paid for breakfast and show check in voucher which is really troublesome. Breakfast option is little and repetitive every morning with a lot of processed food product. Room is generally clean and comfortable.

One thing that might be good to have is a bidet in the bathroom and the toiletries was not complete such as shower cap and sanitary bag. The rest is excellent. Please note that i cannot comment on food as we did not have any meals in the hotel neither breakfast.

Great stay in the hotel. Affordable price for a decently sized room in the middle of the city. The AC took some time to finally cool down the room, but it may have been because we visited the city in a very hot season. Would recommend and book again if given the chance.

IBIS, itself is known to all as a business hotel. Yes, this property is also the same. It has rooms of 14sqm (that is too small). The property overall is well maintained & has good staff. Special thanks to staff at reception, they are very helpful from check-in to daily transport to check-out processes. I feel they are the only ones who will cater to all ur needs. Now, if u plan to stay at this property, please note rooms are only for 2 pax. They do grant 3 pax that is 2 adults + 1 child but please don't opt. If you want then take their Family room (2 beds in a room) only. Also in Small rooms take a room with a balcony or else u will have a claustrophobic feeling as there are no windows to open. Breakfast - Don't expect a lavish spread. You will have 1 Indian item, fries, samosa, spring roll all veg. 1 nonveg item, 1 egg item, Bread toast & croissant. Juices Tea Coffee & a small slice of cake. Location; this is just perfect. 7 min to Little India, 5 min to Bugis street & easily accessible by cabs. Also, u have 7 eleven store within the premises. Restaurants - As little India is 7 min, u can walk thru any time. But just below the hotel you Shish Mahal & a few more Restaurant bar joints to chill at night. Subway too is just 5 min walk. So overall it was decent place to stay for us.

I got a family room for a very reasonable rate from Trip.com which is why I felt it was excellent for the rate paid. If you are looking for a place to sleep comfortably in the night and not spend some leisure time in the hotel expecting a big pool and other services, go for this. Advantages Location - Very close to all major attractions, even by walking. MRT and bus stations are nearby. You can even get an airport bus right outside the hotel Cleanliness - I saw a lot of negative reviews about the hotel, but I felt the house keeping staff did a very good job cleaning the room every day and refilling the items. Kudos to the team. Breakfast Included - Though the breakfast is not very extravagant, it is very good for the price we paid. I did not find any hotel with breakfast in this price range. The items are very simple, and mostly for non vegetarians, but they do talk about this while we check in Check in and out process was very simple, they let us check in 3 hours before the check in time Disadvantages These disadvantages are only for reference and did not affect me or my parents. We could live with these inconvenience. 1. Rooms are small, but that's the case with most hotels in SG 2. Pool is small - It is just a spa pool ( The Receptionist do mention this while checking in) 3. No bidet/Faucet in the toilet across SG and also this hotel - So might be a problem for Indians 4. Plug points are a bit loose. Only 2 universal plugs in the room , so better to carry extra Universal Adaptors 5. We got a corner room in 9th floor, so did not hear any loud noise in the night, but some people were complaining about loud noise as the rooms are not sound proof(This hotel is old) 6. Breakfast options are limited for vegetarians 7. Only limited water bottles given per day, but you can refill water from the cooler

Good price for staying and 5 mins walkable distance from Lavender. Even-though room is just enough for staying not that spacious. Convenient for many food stalls and attractions areas such as Haji lane, arab street and Bugis. Overall, it is one of the good options.

It is a very old hotel and they didn't upgrade their amenities. The room was big but the toilet sucks and has a sewerage smell. The biggest put off was, the 4th level is rented out to a childcare centre and the hotel pool was used for swimming lessons for the kids! The pool being so small already was filled with 2 groups of kids so what is left for the hotel guests? Me and my kid left the pool after 15mins. Boy was I glad it was only a 1 night's stay! With $60 difference, I would have booked the other hotel 100m away with an infinity pool!
