Very close to the ferry to Dar es Salaam. The hotel building is very historic. The room is large and the sea view is right outside the window. The breakfast is rich. The restaurant is on the balcony facing the sea.

The hotel is excellent, luxurious ancient building. The room is oversized and richly decorated in classical style. The location is good and it is one of the landmark hotels in Stone Town. The building is beautiful and the restaurant is the best with all the facilities.

I booked the Presidential Suite and was looking for more of an authentic African vibe which I thought this place would provide. I left after an hour, I was so uncomfortable. I'll say that the staff I encountered were all friendly but the hotel itself was a far cry from 4 stars. There were more steps than I could count to get to my room, something I was completely unprepared for. The AC provided zero coolness and the room remained hot and stuffy for the time I was there. In fact, the AC shut off every 10 minutes and not because it reached its desired temperature. I expect a bit of a moldy smell in pretty much every seafront hotel in a hot climate but the smell in the entire hotel was one of must and mold and triggered the first asthma attack I've had in over 12 years. You could see the embedded dirt in the area rugs and the bedding felt scratchy and uncomfortable. I sat on the mattress to test it and it was as uncomfortable as it looked. The furnishings were what I expected but the overall look of the room was dirty and outdated. The bathroom had one working light; one bulb was completely out and the other flickered in and out. I was unfortunately still charged for this stay in spite of the health risks this place held (I have a heart condition and asthma that's been a non-issue for many years). When I left they wanted to charge me a city tax on top of not being refunded the room. I refused and will dispute it on my bill if it shows up on my statement. This was not the best start to a trip of a lifetime. I was able to make a reservation with points at the Park Hyatt which was an absolute delight.

Great spontaneous stay for two nights. Arrived at 3.00 in the morning and it was no problem to get a room and check in. Breakfast was rich and the view from the breakfast table was stunning. The room was nice with a cute balcony and pool view, AC, fan and a fridge.

The hotel is a scam. Do not book the presidential room . You will received a regular dirty room. Be aware of cockroach- keep you luggage close. Safety books broken , food is terrible , service slow and porter with "reddish" beard rude and unpleasant. This hotel together with stone town was a big disappointment for me.

Perfect hotel for a solo exploration of Stone Town. Location is great, in the heart of the city by the ocean. The architecture of the building is fascinating, the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The hotel is by the ocean, ferrys are at a walking distance same as boats to Prison island.

What a beautiful and well located place. Our only regret was to stay there only one night, we would gladly have stayed longer and we will definitely come back. The building, the rooms, the pool and the restaurant are charming, the staff is extremely kind and helpful. From the first communication to the last minute, everything was perfect. Thank you for this lovely stay!

Definitely this hotel should be avoid, Dirty rooms with cockroaches, unfriendly service. Bed are very uncomfortable. Linen and tower are poor quality . Location is very noisy. Dirty tables, staff are not interesting in their work at all, food is not good. Not recommended at all. Choose different hotel .

This hotel was like a work of art on its own! 😍 I spent my first hour just exploring its interior - the lights, paintings, and photographs made it feel like a museum, so unique and vintage. My room was spacious and clean, and the vintage furniture and decor gave it a nostalgic atmosphere. It was unlike any other place I’ve stayed! The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Although there were a lot of stairs, which could be challenging with luggage, the staff carried it for me when showing me to my room and offered to help at checkout. It rained during my stay, and without me even asking, the staff provided an umbrella and escorted me to my building. There weren’t any bugs in the room so no mosquito net was needed. The aircon worked well and the bed was comfortable. They had a great selection of food for breakfast, with a seafront view. The location was fantastic, close to the ocean, the botanic garden, and the night market, with plenty to see and explore 😊

September 2024 This hotel was perfect in every way. I was given theTippu Tip room, with a balcony view of the waterfront. The hotel, and my room, was filled with antique furniture. The included breakfast was delicious and varied. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. I would return. Warning, no alcohol is served at this hotel.

If you're expecting a 5-star, 10/10 luxury experience, this may not be the place for you. However, if you're looking for something unique with historical architecture and exceptionally friendly staff, I highly recommend giving it a try. We stayed for one night, and the room was clean and comfortable. While we can't comment on the quality of the food as we missed breakfast—our own fault for not paying attention to the time—everything else was wonderful. Saleem ( apologies if I have spelt your name incorrectly) was a fantastic host, and his team made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself has a lot of character, and we enjoyed exploring it. We stayed in the Tatu room, which overlooked the seafront. Even though it was on the main strip, we had a peaceful night's sleep in a comfortable bed, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We’re already planning to return to Stone Town, and this will most likely be our go-to place due to its great location and the warm, welcoming staff.

Before you bookng this hotel read the negative review. Unfortunately the negative reviews are quite accurate. Here is my review of the Mizingani Hotel . Positive- unique architecture, the person at the front desk on my check out was very nice. Negative- dirty room, cocroches in the room, uncomfortable bed, some staff with attitudes, very slow service at the restaurant, dirty chairs and tables at the restaurant, uneatable food served during the dinner, very noisy location that will wake you up very early. broken USB and electrical outlet, broken safety box deposit. We make a mistake booking this hotel and my advise is do not book this hotel. This hotel is really dirty and this is my biggest concern. I only hope that the ownership will take my review and others seriously and address the issues I stated and many others in their review. This hotel has a great potential . I wish you the best . Cheers
