Ibis Budget Strasbourg Centre Gare

Strasbourg Train Station Strasbourg|0.18km from Strasbourg
BED BUGS WARNING !!! BEDBUGS The Hotel Ibis Hotel Budget Strasbourg Centre is conveniently located a short walk from the impressive Strasbourg train station. We arrived in the evening, and booked an affordable room from the street in front of the hotel (I think we might have even used their wi-fi). It seemed like a clean and affordable hotel with convenient nearby parking for our short road trip through the beautiful German and French countryside. When we got into the room, we quickly noticed a small bed bug trapped in a water glass of all places. While I am fine with budget hotels and basic amenities, I don’t have patience for bedbugs. IFKYK, these pesky insects can take weeks to get rid of, and one small egg or bug can cause a whole house infestation. Since we were only in the hotel room for less than 3 minutes and only booked the room a few moments before, we thought we could easily get a refund and just part ways. The hotel wouldn’t be out any money as they didn’t hold a reservation until we arrived, and the room was literally empty just before we arrived. WRONG. When we discreetly told the friendly receptionist about the bedbug, he wasn’t shocked or surprised at all, which was the first red flag. He let us know that he wasn’t authorized to refund the charge, and would need approval from his Manager who would be at the desk in the morning and could email us with an update. PERFECT, except that never happened. We didn’t receive an email, and after emailing the hotel numerous times, we were ignored, brushed off, discredited, and ultimately denied a refund based on a variety of irrelevant excuses. After many back and forth emails, we didn’t get anywhere or resolve anything, which we thought was a shame for such a reasonable concern and simple solution. SUMMARY: Great location and cheap price but be warned if you want to spend the whole night itching and scratching thinking about bedbugs, or deal with treating all your clothes on high heat and spraying your home with nasty chemicals when you return home, you get what you pay for here. A very disappointing end to an overall fabulous trip. Happy travelling!

Strasbourg Train Station
Conveniently located across the train station, this hotel was a great base to explore Strasbourg and Colmar during Christmas. Check-in was super quick, and the front desk staff was very attentive and answered any questions we had. COVID-19 protocols were strict, which was very positive. The room was a standard IBIS room, so nothing spectacular to write about, but still served its purpose and didn’t come with any surprises. Check-out was again fast, and walking across the street to get on our train for our next destination was priceless.

Where to begin. My minuscule room on the second floor. I smelled less sewage in the Paris metro. The room stinks so bad. There was no air-conditioning or any type of ventilation. And if you open the window all you could hear was noise at three in the morning from the bar that is downstairs. But you can’t complain about the bar because the family that runs the hotel runs the bar. Avoid this place at all costs. Now they did comp my room and move me to a lovely room in the courtyard and that was fine but these rooms over the bars should not even be allowed to be given to people. When I did complain they said they know it’s a problem but nobody’s doing anything to solve it so just beware. So the first night when I was in the tiny room that stunk like sewage I had to open the window but I couldn’t sleep because of the bar noise. So let me tell you about the lovely gentleman at reception. After the bar close he had a couple of girls that were hanging out in front of the hotel talking so loudly and drinking. I was sitting by the window because it was fresh air he literally pissed in the street. I am here to tell you just avoid this place. It could be so charming but it’s not. Now if you can get one of the big rooms in the courtyard I thought it was lovely. But it’s not worth risking. If you get a room over the street Run. Breakfast was also not very good. Really this is like a one star hotel. Buyer beware.

Strasbourg Downtown
trip.com has become [Best Western Hotel de France], but the actual name was Hotel Kaijo. I think it was probably renewed and changed its name. I was lost when the name was different, but the reservation was made properly. There is a description in the review that there is a bathtub, but it was not in the room I stayed in, so if you want, you should request the hotel. The washbasin was clean or renewed, and the shower room and toilet were unusually separate. But I was worried about it because there was a mysterious dirt on the wall of the shower room.

We had a short stay in Strasbourg. This is hotel literally a 2 minute walk as you exit the train station. Our original room was a ”accessible” room which was NOT what we had reserved. Alexanderos at the front desk was kind enough to change our room to a top floor with a view of of the main square. Everything was as expected. The ONLY odd thing about the room was the lack of a handle on the bathroom door and the the door opened to the outside! Not normal. There was just a groove alongside the door edge. Made it hard to pull the door to open toward the inside of the room. PLEASE install door handles. The staff was always attentive and helpful especially Alexandros.

1 night stay with family (2 kids). Great welcome very friendly, toys for the kids. Huge teddy bear (2.5m high) in the room. Perfect cleanliness. Great bedroom. Good access to the carpark (public). Direct access to a big mall. 5-10 min walk to the old town. Will come back for sure.

We travelled to Strasbourg by train from UK so the hotel was ideally located when we arrived. And it was only a few hundred yards from all the sights in central Strasbourg too, plus lots of excellent eating and drinking establishments. Our room was spacious, well appointed and beautifully clean. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious (the pancake machine was a highlight!). The staff were attentive and helpful. All in all, a really good experience.
