pros: - secluded - privacy, only 6 families can stay - beautiful views, right on the beach (literally you walk from your room to the sea) - nature (trees, small animals like copybaras, etc.) - nice design - nice pool with shade - friendly staff cons: - remote from Tulum + unpaved bumpy dirt road from the main highway (the rental car is recommended, plan in advance) - several hotels with food are ~ 1 km away, not quite walkable especially if it is during a hot day or at night (the beach trail is not maintained and rocky; the dirt road has traffic, plan in advance) - no info provided about diving and snorkeling in the bay (although there is used free equipment for snorkeling onsite ~ 3-5 people available) tips: - although there are rocks near the beach, there is a sandy man-made entrance to water; water shoes are highly advised; if you swim to the right, the water depth is shallow (~4-5 ft, depends on tide) and it is mainly sand (watch out for stones/corrals anyway!); if you swim to the left, there is a reef with fishes; current towards the shore is quite noticeable so intermediate swimming ability + fins are recommended. as reef is shallow, do not swim on the sea side, as current will push you on the corrals/reef! snorkel from the shore side; - there is a diving shop nearby which can provide boat trips to best parts of the reef for snorkeling ($35 per person, but see below) - there is cenote near the diving shop, quite an experience (150-500 pesos but see below) - when you deal with services outside like diving shop or cenote or rental car at Cancun airport, watch out for some tricky/scam-my practices focused on silly tourists (at diving and cenote initially they say one price, but at the place you get another price; rental company can try to give you a car with expired registration; gas stations try to scam you with payments, etc) - restaurants few steps away from first one on the road are better in quality. do not fall for the 1st one (better views, waiters are more professional);
