Very elegant downtown hotel located next door to the theater we came to enjoy a musical for our date night. Very clean and comfortable, staff was great, very friendly, restaurant looked wonderful but we didn’t have time to enjoy... would highly recommend to everyone.

We loved our stay. We were nervous because previous reviews said the furniture and carpets needed replacement. Not true! The ambiance they are going for is a rustic cabin or fishing lodge. As far as I could tell, just one chair in each room is „distressed“ meaning the chair was new but had been beat up to make it look old. The breakfast was very good. I‘ve never seen croissants at a hotel breakfast before. We especially appreciated that the rooms were truly clean-no stray hairs or flecks of junk to try to ignore. I thought the beds were perfect while my husband said they were a little too firm.

First off, this hotel was absolutely beautiful. Very upscale and classy, modern décor, super clean, great beds, awesome bathroom with a tv in the bathroom mirror. We loved everything about our room. The staff was super friendly and helpful too. We booked this as a couples get away and because we saw the awesome rooftop patio and thought it would be so nice and romantic to go hang out up there in the evenings. We shared this idea with the person we booked the room with and they talked about how nice and peaceful it was up there. Our first night there we went up to enjoy the Rise Up and found it was completely packed with a bunch of drunk 20 something year old's and there wasn't a place to sit. We had one drink inside the (not for hotel guests). We thought maybe we could enjoy it the next day and see the view, but we went back up and they have it closed along with Rise Up so you couldn't access it until 4pm. We never went back. We had planned to do most things at the hotel and that just wasn't an option. We were going to eat breakfast there but we failed to notice on their website that Viva is temporarily closed. Then in the evening we wanted some bottled water/pop. Guess what, they have no vending at all. So we had to drive around downtown Davenport to try to find a place to get water/pop. Not being able to eat there or have vending were totally inconvenient especially being downtown and not wanting to keep going back to our car to leave. Also parking was $12 a day unless you wanting to hunt for your own spot around downtown. We were disappointed with how this all turned out.
Hilton Garden Inn Cedar Falls

We live 5 minutes away but chose to stay at the hotel due to a family wedding and reception there. They have a beautiful property, and the outdoors set up was awesome! My complaints more come from the service we received. I received an email to do a no contact check in. I tried and tried, but it never worked. No big deal as the lady who checked us in was awesome. We got to our room, and it was 75 degrees in there. We immediately turned on the air. The room was not getting cooler, and we were trying to get dressed and ready for the wedding. I called the front desk numerous times with no answer. We turned it to 57 to see if that would make it finally cool down When we went downstairs, there was another front desk employee. She was not nice whenever we tried to speak with her. Told her our air was not working, and I know many others were complaining too. She said maintenance was still there, and they would be up. We went to our room multiple times with no change in the thermostat. We said something to her again, and obviously she did nothing, again. My husband finally said we will just deal with it because nothing was happening, and we were not going to throw our money away. When we went upstairs for the night, it was 76 in our room. We got a miserable nights sleep as we were sweating all night. Woke up and it was 75 degrees. Also, the bartender assigned to our wedding was a total mean girl. She was not friendly at all, ignored you even when no one else was there. Many people said something about her service. Shout out to the guy bartender in the lobby. He was nice and fun, and we ended up walking out there every time we wanted a drink. We love staying at Hilton’s, so this was a total disappointment.

very clean small hotel with local feel. breakfast was very good. nice sized pool and hot tub for exercise and relaxation. noisy heat/ac unit in room made for a restless night, however as it started and stopped all night long to keep the room at the desired temperature. also, no elevator so we made numerous trips up and down the stairs from the second floor when our keys failed to work and the desk attendant was obviously not trained to re-key.
Super 8 by Wyndham des Moines

DO NOT RESERVE A ROOM HERE!!! I spent $144 to reserve a room for 5 guests in a room that ”sleeps 5” at the Super 8 by Wyndham Des Moines only to arrive late at night and discover that they could NOT accommodate 5 guests in any of their rooms. If I had known they could not actually accommodate 5 guests, I would not have made a reservation at this low rated hotel. I requested a partial refund through Expedia for the extra $50 I paid over the price of a 4-guest room at other nearby hotels, since what I received was only a 4-guest room. Expedia stated that the Super 8 denied the request and Expedia instead offered a $29 credit on Expedia which I have no use for. I asked Expedia to correct the misinformation and not allow 5 person reservations, and they have not. I called the hotel and asked to leave a message for the manager and started to describe the situation and the receptionist hung up. This property is dirty, the room stunk, the continental breakfast consisted of a jug of milk in an otherwise empty fridge, a pile of bread and toaster, and out-of-order juice dispenser, an empty coffee machine, and a waffle maker that stuck. Furthermore, their ”pool” was drained. Extremely disappointing experience and response.

As soon as walking through the front doors I was greeted with a very pleasant clean smell, a beautiful foyer, and a happy attendant (whom later I would find out to be the manager). I checked in for a 3 night stay, got my key card and went to my room. I had a room with two queen beds that were super comfortable (I have back problems, but not with these!), 4 or 5 pillows (I lost count) per bed that are just clean and fluffy soft, tv, microwave, mini fridge, and a safe! The shower had a large sunflower sized head with good pressure! The climate control unit was very up to date and easy to use, and comfortable! Everything in the room was clean and nice looking and made for a very pleasant stay! They also have a heated pool in which I took the opportunity to swim in everyday which was nice and soothing. And last but not least the continental breakfast, which changes each day, had such things as omelets, sausage links, pancakes, french toast, juices, cereals, muffins, coffees, etc... One of thee best hotels I've ever stayed in!!!

It wasn’t a bad hotel but when I went to check in I had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come to the desk. I work at a hotel if you are going to be away from it that long have a way for them to get ahold of you. Also we got kicked out of breakfast area because we were finishing our breakfast and it was after 9 when they stop having it. I believe we could have been allowed to finish. Otherwise not a bad place to stay.

The stay was nice. The maids do leave at a certain time and gave us sheets that were not thoroughly washed. There was some blood stains from a cut or something on the end of the sheets so we asked for new ones. Front desk said the maid service already left and they’d give hs new ones but we’d have to change them out ourself. We never received the sheets. So we had to pull off the sheets we had and sleep without it.
