玄武湖有五个小岛，是为“五洲”，分别是环洲、樱洲、菱洲、梁洲、翠洲。洲洲堤桥相通，连缀成一串美玉珠链，在这一波春水里熠熠放光，煞是美丽。其中环洲包围着的是樱洲。樱洲现在种植了许多樱花，每年还举办玄武湖樱花节，不过以前这里的名称樱洲并非来自樱花，还是国为这里种植了许多樱桃，而作为宫廷贡品。这里的各种花卉许多，是赏花的好地方。

樱洲位于南京市区，是一个很有特色的地方。
