Anuradhapura Hotels with Bars

On our way back to Colombo from Jaffna, stayed one night . Room 233 was given and wasn’t prepared properly. Just one pillow on each bed. No bed runner or fancy cushions. No face towels. Hot water temperature was very low. Shower cubicle door was not working properly, basically it came off. Luckily no one was hurt. They fix the rest but not the hot water. Dinner buffet was average. At 8 pm hardly any food left on most dishes. We had to ask them to fill it up. Breakfast was not up to standard. Have stayed in many hotels all over the world. First time in life came across a dish called “ Bacon & Cabbage.” Counter top food warmers were too hot allowing String Hoppers and Thosai to stuck at the bottom. Even though they said temperatures increased, hot water wasn’t working in the morning. They were going arrange another room to take a shower, unfortunately no one turned up with any key. Left the hotel without a shower in the morning !! This hotel doesn’t deserve 4 stars. Inconveniences are not minor and stay was not worth the price. Won’t come again nor recommend to others.

We had a great 2 night stay at Milano Rest. The hotel has a retro Cuban vibe, and the rooms were nice and well arranged. The service was outstanding. The staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating about meals, organised a very reasonably-priced tuk tuk and tour of Anuradhapura and Mihintale, and generally ensured our stay was fantastic. Would highly recommend!

The hotel is located in Anuradhapura, with beautiful pagoda ruins visible across a large lake. The environment of the hotel is quite beautiful, and the swimming pool is also very good. The supply of buffet breakfast is not stable. We stayed for 4 nights in a row. Breakfast was buffet breakfast on two days and set meal on two days. The explanation given by the hotel was that the buffet breakfast was not open because the tour bus had left and there were too few people. Anyway, it’s quite interesting to have a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Picture 1 is the set breakfast we had (the portions were huge), and Pictures 2 and 3 are the buffet breakfast.

This is our second visit to Sungreen Resort. What convinced us to return was their welcoming staff and excellent location. As we expected, the service was outstanding. We enjoyed a variety of Western and Sri Lankan dishes, with their traditional Sri Lankan seafood cuisine being exceptional. The pool, with its fountains, was wonderful, and the garden provide a great atmosphere for those who love reading and enjoying nature. The location was also convenient for visiting most of the popular sites in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. I highly recommend this place!

Spacious rooms with decks overlooking a lake and with 3 stupas in the distance. Great air conditioning. Excellent buffets for all 3 meals. We were there for 3 nights. I had to miss our group excursion to the Bodhi Tree so the hotel kindly arranged for a driver and car to take me there at sunset! The car was allowed to pass through several road barriers — finally I realized the hotel had generously sent breakfast for the monks, so the delivery was made to the monastery. Lovely!

This place is an exceptional gem amidst the nature. The architect has done a terrific job by blending in with the nature with such simplicity and sophistication. It is an eco luxury boutique hotel in true sense. Everything was outstanding. The staff provided extraordinary hospitality. The food was delicious too, chef definitely knows how to cook delicious meals at fine dine level. Would definitely recommend it to others and wish to come back again. Kudos to the entire team for making our trip to SriLanka so memorable
