I thought the sauna was included in our stay that’s why I booked the hotel. When I’ve mentioned it to the staff about not having an additional cost to it when you book online, they told me is part of the spa . This is very confusing as if it was part of the spa why mentioning it and not including it in the spa section . Spa and sauna are not the same and if it’s a cost to it , that should be mentioned. Anything else was amazing . Also they don’t have a separate cost to the sauna only ! I just wanted to use the gym and the sauna , no spa though! There was no possibility to book the sauna without the spa. It’s like 20 euros per acces not per day which I thought it’s a rip off especially when you are already booked with the hotel and you’ve paid for your room! Again staff showed no flexibility , it was either pay for something you won’t use or you don’t get it! Ended up not booking it because I did not want to use the spa , and I thought it was a lot of money (20 euros) to pay for 15 min use of sauna only.

The most successful hotel booked in Spain this time, the room is very spacious, there is a direct water dispenser on each floor, the room has a coffee machine, and capsules are available every day. The hotel's service is also very good and the front desk is very warm. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the subway station.

Old Town
Reception: A warm welcome with a glass of chilled white wine on the house right on our arrival! The receptionists were extremely nice and helpful as for restaurant recommendations, ways to points of interest, taught us the history of this ancient building. Our luggage was instantly taken upstairs. Room: We were in the ”extra view” room on the 6th floor - just fantastic! The spacious and bright room (due to 3 huge windows), surprised us with a bathtub and a big, round bed in the middle of the room. On the desk we found a handwritten welcome and 2 chocolates. Bath- and bedroom were outstanding as to cleanliness! The towels far away from the toilet, which I appreciate, as it's the opposite in so many other hotels where the hang so close to it. The bathroom was also spacious and I liked a lot the modern tiles on the wall. The ancient bright column made a great contrast to the noble dark tiles, so the bathroom was a real eye catcher, too. The architecture of the whole building, by the way, lives from the combination of old and new. Breakfast: Instead of a buffet they serve breakfast. There is a choice of several warm and cold dishes as well as yoghurt and fruit. Everything was tasty. Location: Perfect. At the Nervion River, the old town just around the corner, the Guggenheim Museum within 30 minutes of walking - along the nice river promenade. Parking: Only 50 meters over the bridge to the other side of the river. You have to reserve a parking place before your arrival though. The only inconvenience: The hotel does not have a parking place in front of the entrance to unload the car. So we first passed by it and called for help as the traffic was pretty busy and we did not dare to stop. It turned out to be no problem at all: the friendly receptionist guided us back to the hotel, expected us outside and showed us where to stop - right in front of the building on the other side of the lane. We travel a lot and I have to admit that our stay at Tayko in Bilbao was one of our best hotel experiences ever. A place to return and to recommend.

A massive thanks to all the staff in the Zenit Bilbao hotel for making our family trip to Bilbao a fantastic experience. A special mention to Joseba. The location, cleanliness, the breakfast, the extras in the room like toothbrush and toothpaste were excellent. We will definitely return and cannot wait to visit Bilbao again. Eskerrik Asko

The location is very good, I feel that this is a veteran five-star hotel with a strong Basque style design. The suite I stayed in, the room was large, the view was good, and there was a garage in the ground. Maybe the room is not new enough, but it is well maintained. Next to the park, walk to the Basque Museum for 5 minutes and Guggenheim for 10 minutes. I recommend.

We booked a “Deluxe Room with Guggenheim views” for 5 nights and were lodged in room 52, on the 5th floor, a room facing the street and indeed offering a nice view of Guggenheim museum and its iconic Puppy. Our room was reasonably sized although quite compact and furnished in a minimalistic style. Thick curtains intriguingly divide the room in two parts: corridor / bathroom on one side, bedroom on the other. The very same curtains hide away the wardrobe, the drawers, the fridge and the safe box. Our stay was comfortable although we struggled a bit over the weekend because of the poor soundproofing from external and internal noises. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast tasty, service good. Excellent location along the river, near the Guggenheim & Calatrava’s Bridge and approx. 1 km from the old town. During our stay we had dinner at: Serrantes II (Al. de Urquijo, 51); Victor Montes (Plaza Nueva 8); Waman (Avenida Madariaga, 5) and Eneko Basque (Gran Vía de Don Diego López de Haro, 4). All of them within 20-30 min walk from the hotel. We were particularly impressed by Victor Montes (traditional cuisine) & Waman (Peruvian cuisine).
