"The stay was amazing!! The service impecable, location superb and lovely room! The Inn is located on a very central road close to the gate to the ancient city. Even though its very central, the rooms are in a back garden so its very peacefull and quiet. The room was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable! They even have a small terrace with view of the skyline! But the best part was the service! The person working at the teception supported us with anything we asked, it felt like a piece of authentic chinese hospitality! I can only recommend this beautiful Inn to anyone visiting Pingyao!"

"Wow! Just wow! I looked at this place online and I was like I totally love it and I really wanted to stay in the old city as part of the experience of going to Pingyaogucheng. The hosts were super helpful picking me up from the station communicating via the Trip/app so I didn’t have to stress about communication issues. I stayed in a kang room just near the courtyard. It was really comfortable a little chair and table, TV (not that I used it) kettle, private bathroom. It’s really convenient to go to a lot of the central places for sightseeing and also great food and snacks. You can try some homemade alcohol and vinegar - and yes you get a bottle of vinegar to take with you at the end of your stay."

"Amazing hotel in an historical building. Location was perfect, close to the two main streets. Staff was friendly and welcomed us with many gifts (snack, tea, magnet, water). The room was beautiful and very clean. Big towels for shower where missing though. Overall strongly recomand!"

"A truly perfect stay! First, the owner called ahead to give directions. I personally tried it: taking a taxi to the ”Xindongmen” (New East Gate) of the ancient city, then walking straight to the guesthouse without any turns – it was super easy to find, and a 650-meter walk with a suitcase felt manageable. Second, the guesthouse is ideally located near all the main attractions like the Yamen, City God Temple, and South Street. Third, the room I booked, though not large, was very clean and comfortable. There's a bar downstairs, which was lovely for a drink and some music after a long day of sightseeing. Fourth, the owner was incredibly considerate. We were heading out of the ancient city to Shuanglin Temple the next day and needed a late check-out at 12 PM, which they readily agreed to. Finally, we even received a thoughtful farewell gift – I was genuinely touched, thank you. Wishing them all the best! Goodbye, Pingyao!"

"The best hotel in Pingyao! Big, beautiful and clean room. Big bathroom with a great shower and a smart toilet! Exactly as in the photos. The hotel staff was amazing, friendly and caring, they made me feel at home will all their hospitality. They picked me up at the railway station when I arrived in the city and where there ready to help with anything I could need."

"I could not ask for anything’s else. First I booked other hotel close to Pingyao Ancient city but too much noise. I decide to move to Mercure and that was the best decision I made. I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The check-in process was smooth and quick, and my room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed. The on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a great variety of options, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever had. The location was perfect — close to everything yet peaceful and quiet at night. What truly stood out was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and comfortable. I would 100% stay here again and recommend this hotel."

"Staying at this hotel was a truly unique experience, almost like stepping back in time while maintaining all the modern comforts. The building is splendid, a true traditional Shanxi house with an internal courtyard, antique wood, historical decorations, and that atmosphere that only Pingyao can offer. The room was cozy, clean, and tastefully furnished, a perfect balance between tradition and comfort. The comfortable bed, modern bathroom, and attention to detail made the stay even more enjoyable. Even the quiet at night, rare in many tourist destinations, was an added bonus. The staff was extremely kind: they welcomed us with a smile, helped us with our bags, and provided excellent tips for visiting the ancient city. They speak enough English to make all communications quick and easy. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the main streets yet far enough from the noise. A true oasis of tranquility. For the price and the overall experience, I consider it a must-see if you visit Pingyao. I would definitely stay here again."

"We had a good experience staying here. They were patient with our lack of ability to speak Chinese and we’re prepared to communicate through translation apps. The room was well accommodated and clean. Bottled water was provided and a traditional Chinese breakfast was available each morning. If you need your coffee in the morning to get started, you will need to bring your own or is it one of the coffee stands throughout town. The hotel is on one of the Backstreets next to a park and requires about a five minute walk to get to the main shopping streets, but as result is also quiet. thanks for a great day."

The room was spotless, the bedding was incredibly soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, making for a very peaceful stay. The service was impeccable; check-in was super fast, and they responded quickly to any requests. The robot delivery service was also incredibly thoughtful, convenient, and unobtrusive. The room had smart home features, and there were also a laundry room and gym – all super practical amenities. The value for money is amazing."
