Virginia Museum of Fine ArtsPpoohwubearThe Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a wonderful place to visit in Richmond. First, admission is FREE. You can find free street parking in the surrounding areas, too. There’s also a lovely restaurant inside that is rather affordable as well as a cafe downstairs. The museum hosts an outdoor sculpture garden, ancient relics, paintings, and so much more. My favorite are the Egyptian sarcophagus and Indian Garden Pavilion.
Old City Hall沙沙漠里的赤裸裸I came to Richmond, the capital of Virginia, by chance. This place was never in my itinerary. I only saw the introduction of this city in various guidebooks for traveling in the East, and I had a little impression of it, especially the White House in the South. But when I had to come to this city to avoid the hurricane, I found that this city really has a lot of heritage. I thought there would be more black people in the city center, but after observing it, it was okay. But the scenery of this city is really good. Some quaint buildings in the city center have their own merits and are quite attractive. The James River flowing through the city has a good scenery, and the high-end residential area opposite the James River echoes the city center, which is also quiet and elegant. As a historic city, Richmond is worth a visit.
MaymontPpoohwubearI grew up outside of Richmond, and Maymont Park was a very much frequented landmark - it’s where our high school held picnics, where we brought out-of-state (and out-of-country) visitors. I left Richmond after high school 16yrs ago but still make a trip to Maymont now and then when visiting my parents. So grateful the city has maintained the park so well for the public to enjoy (it’s Free!).
James River沙沙漠里的赤裸裸This riverside park is just across the city center of Richmond, surrounded by high-end residential areas, so the park is given a lot of sports functions. It can row, run, bike and hike, etc. The location of the park is still very good to find, and there are more obvious signs, but the park has multiple entrances, some entrances will be closed with the changes of the season, so maybe drive along the road, this entrance is not open, the next entrance will be open. The signs in the park are also clear, showing the location. It only takes 100 meters to 200 meters from the parking lot to the river. It is very convenient. Looking at the open James River, you can feel the tranquility and the movement. The river is a bit urgent. It is very suitable for rowing. It is simply a sports paradise.
CarytownMM30***41Cute, artsy area with interesting shops and restaurants. The shops close early, some as early as 4:00 PM, and some have lines to get in.
Science Museum of VirginiaMM30***41We went without our kids, not realizing how kid focused it is. But we had a blast! Interesting exhibit
