Hotel Paseo de la Presa

We booked this knowing it was not in the Centro area of the city. We wanted peace and quiet. The hotel itself is dated but clean and the views are wonderful. The pool was somewhat dirty and there were many missing tiles on the bottom which made us pass on that to avoid cut feet. Our first night we were blown out of bed at 3:15 which so much noise, yelling, screaming, slamming doors and people outside out door on cell phones. We learned that 2 tour busses arrived and it was a large, loud group checking in. Breakfast was confusing with the large group in house but once served it was ok, however we did not understand what was and was not included so we were charged for our ”free breakfast”. We carried on, went out for the day and returned around 3 for a nap and once again the group came back from their tour of the day and the hotel was loud and napping was not an option. We packed up, forfeited out second paid night and left for a hotel in Centro which proved to be so much nicer and quieter even right on one of the plazas. Lesson learned.

○ Good point ○ The view from the balcony was so beautiful in any time zone!!! You can get a card that is free to ride the funikra + you have a priority that you don't have to line up in the line of the funikra platform. Access to sightseeing the city of Guanafat is outstanding if the pukhnikura is moving. The hill of Pipira is also close. I was able to go back to my room several times a day while sightseeing and rest and see the scenery. It is very romantic that serenata listens to the night. ● not good ● walls with the room next to the cherry blossoms are thin? Especially in the shower area, I could hear the sound and voice of the shower. I had trouble in the room at night, but it was midnight? I was troubled by the staff who only knew Spanish. The window of the balcony is locked from the inside, so if you go out, the window is absolutely not closed, you can be locked; (it is a little unfortunate that you have to care about the last train of fnikra. Be careful because the last train is early on Sunday. There was a time when Wi-Fi was bad for occasional. However, the point that it was not good is not replaced by the great view. I really want to stay at the hotel all the time. I think it is a hotel that I should definitely stay when I come to Guanafato!

Trying to get to the hotel was a little confusing due to the tunnels and a police officer blocking the main road to get to the hotel, but eventually we got there. There is no valet but you can park your car on the left side real quick and go inside to let them know you’ve arrived and they will park your car for you. We got greeted by a wonderful, very well spoken bilingual woman named Aileen. She was so helpful and informative. It was a huge plus for us to have someone speak English since my American boyfriend didn’t know Spanish. The rooms were extremely clean and had all the amenities that we needed for our stay. If you forgot something at home, they most likely had it. We loved that the hotel was RIGHT in the middle of the city. Everything is walking distance. Now for the cons… We booked 3 massages and the spa room only fit 1. I would have wanted to at least have had a couples massage but they accommodated it in our room. It wasn’t as relaxing as we would have wanted it. The masseuses did a great job tho. There was also an extremely loud noise coming from the room upstairs, it seemed like someone was moving/building furniture. It woke us up at 8 am and the noise got worse thru out the morning we couldn’t go back to sleep. Besides those things I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would have my family stay there again!

Clean, comfortable, simple rooms in local neighborhood. Beds are comfortable and shower is hot. The host is extremely helpful and the breakfast on the terrace is lovely. This is not an ordinary hotel but a converted house on top of one of the hills of Guanajuato. It is a steep walk up and down. The 2 flights of circular stairs to the terrace are not for everyone but once you are there the views are spectacular.

The hotel is very close to the city center and there are many restaurants nearby. It's very lively at night, the sound insulation of the room is mediocre, you can clearly hear the noisy sounds from outside in the room, my boyfriend thinks it's a bit noisy, but I still like to listen to this lively and happy atmosphere occasionally. The hotel has a lift, but our room was only accessible by stairs, which is not very convenient if you have a heavy suitcase. There are some chairs at the door of our room, and several employees sit and chat on them. We can hear their voices clearly in the room, and I'm not sure if they can also hear our conversations in the room. And they chatted there again early the next morning, and I was woken up by their chatter. I hope the hotel can tell them not to chat at the door of the room where guests are staying.

We had a lot of issues with this hotel and it's owner. First of all, they completely forgot to pick us up at the airport and we had to wait an hour for them to arrive. We were told they would waive the $50 fee due to the inconvenience but THEN REFUSED TO DO SO! Secondly, many items that were said to be provided in the description were not included. We brought this up with the owner who insisted we were wrong but there is no denying that their ad says things like a kitchen, coffee maker, etc are included when they are NOT. Furthermore, they say they offer a complementary breakfast but all you get is coffee toast and a tiny plate of fruit slices. There are no restaurants nearby so we were forced to buy breakfast from them when it is supposed to be included.
