We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The room was perfect and comfortable! The breakfast was delicious! The service was great! We liked that the room didn’t have carpet. The mini fridge was perfect for what we needed.

I don’t know who did it, or how, but this establishment has completely turned around. I had to look for a complaint to put in this review – I did not have a Do Not Disturb sign in my room. Yup, that’s it. When I arrived, the Front Desk was well staffed with smiling faces, I was thanked for my patronage with Marriott, and check in was quick and pleasant. My room was exceptionally clean, the bathroom was stocked and set up with a new shower curtain and fluffy new towels, the bed was soft, clean, and made up with what appeared to be new sheets. On the desk was a basket of snacks and water, along with a HAND WRITTEN “thank you for your patronage” note (I am Ambassador level). Folks, this was an EFFORT! This establishment no longer welcomes you with a dirty welcome mat at the front door, they welcome you with an open-armed hug. Sylvia is amazing! But the real clincher was the next morning at breakfast. The food was fresh, hot and plentiful. More importantly, the guests were pleasant with one another, and everyone cheerfully waited their turn at the food bar. This is a sign of well cared for and well-rested guests – no grumpies in the room at all!! I earned my status with Marriott by staying lots (LOTS) of nights, and this was the happiest crowd I have seen outside of Disney; thank you! Thank you for such great care, thank you for making Marriott look good, and thank you for giving me and my fellow Marriott members a reason to keep making Marriott our first choice every time.

Sometimes things happen in life that are out of your control. It's how we react to them that can really make a difference. We arrived late in the day and were exhausted from work. We pretty much went to bed right away. In the morning, I realized we didn't have any hot water. I told the gentleman at the front desk. He just said he would write up a ticket when the maintenance man came in. He was friendly enough but had to prodded before he even apologized for the inconvenience. I received a text message asking how my stay was going and telling me that they email a receipt when I departed. I don't know if all guests get this text message or if it's only for diamond members. There was no mention of the lack of hot water in the text. I responded and asked if this was a real person or if the message was AI generated. Someone replied and said she was an actual person. I asked if she knew we had no hot water and she said she did. She said she saw the maintenance ticket. I told her that would be too late for us as we had two get on the road and so we had to take cold showers. Still no apology! Later I received another text from someone else. I later found out that this was the general manager. She did apologize in her text. Maintenance came to our room as we were packing up to go downstairs, grab a bite to eat, and leave. I asked if he could just wait until wen left as it was too late for us, we had already showered in the cold water. I ran into the maintenance guy again in the breakfast room. We had another conversation and I said I hope I didn't sound rude. I explained to him that it was too late for us so it was better to just wait until we left and fix it to help the next person. I saw the lady at the front desk heard our conversation. I know they knew what we were talking about. Still no-one came over to speak with us in person. When I checked out all that was said to me was ”Do you want a printed receipt or should I email it?” I asked her if she knew we had not hot water and she said she did and she did now say she was sorry about that. There was no mention from anyone about discounting our room, or maybe some extra Hilton honor points or something. Just..... nothing! It left such a bad taste in my mouth as we left the property. After we left, I decided to text the number and explain how I was feeling. I told her that I was disappointed that no-one ever actually spoke to me in person. I got another text message that I thought was very rude. Half of it was in all caps. I responded and told her that I felt like she was yelling at me with all of the capital letters and I hoped she had a nice day. She didn't respond. I have stayed at many Hampton Inn properties across the globe and I have never been treated like this from management. Tonya, if you are in fact the general manager, you have a lot to learn about customer service.

Rodeway Inn

I stayed at the Rodeway Inn when my Air BnB host canceled on me no-notice without any explanation. I reluctantly booked the Rodeway Inn as a last-minute place to stay, since it was the cheapest, and all the other hotels / Air BnBs were booked full - I think there was a college football game going on in College Station, which is what spiked the prices for everything else in the local area. The pros: Easy to locate off I-45 and I-30 if you're heading from Bryan / College Station. The front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful. Plenty of place to park. Free Wi-Fi, basic cable TV Microwave & mini-fridge in the room Minimal foot traffic of people passing through / wandering aimlessly. Nice outdoor pool. The cons: The room I booked had a strong mildew odor, and the carpet by the front door area was soaking wet. The smoke detector on the wall was missing. Crumbs everywhere on the tables / flat surfaces A/C vents hadn't been cleaned in ages. When I rinsed them out in the bathtub, the bathtub would not drain. I had to speak with the front desk and the handy man snaked the tub on the spot. Mold in the bathroom ceiling Floor hadn't been vacuumed in quite some time. In the end, the hotel manager apologized and offered us a better room....but.... Room phone was left unplugged and the phone received looked like coffee had been spilled on it. Lamps by the bed didn't function because the electric cable had been cut. As easy as it may be to blast a low-budget hotel here on TripAdvisor, I believe it would be inappropriate. From what I see, the hotel has fallen on hard times and truly needs better funding by its parent corporation. The cleaning staff are cut down to two people during daytime hours, and the manager is constantly walking around, being proactive. It's not easy to run the daily operations of a hotel if you don't have the people or the money, and I get that. Still, to knowingly place guests in such horrible conditions is unacceptable. Other telltale signs of wear and tear lead me to believe that most of the hotel is not in use. I wouldn't stay here again, now knowing what I know. If you do stay here, do so at your own risk.
