Kota Kinabalu Hotels with Bars

Stayed for 3 nights Day1 stay checked in around 330pm and it was smooth, we were assigned a room in which on my request. Wifi was strong, water pressure was superb, it has a damp(wet) carpet spot till the end of our stay. Day2 breakfast was below average, unlike before, the variety was below par. Quality of the food wise average. We asked for room cleaning(tidy) but since 1100am till 4pm when we back from our errands, the room was still untidy. But we called the passer by cleaning team for towels change and other amenities replenishment Day3 breaksfast was like day2, less variety. Day4 breakfast like same day2 and day3, if it werent included in our booking, i would rather buy outside. 3 nights stay was ok but the question remains, maybe i would recommend but i will come back if the breakfast choices improve Overall stay: 3.7/5.0

Good room… surprised to see separate rooms inside for 3 persons staying… 1 for couple and 1 more for single … really amazed with this… Things that are lacking probably is the shaver they don’t provide, internet not really connecting to the tv and limited 3 bottle of 500ml for 3 person..

I didn't realise it's the big room when do the booking. Unfortunately, I haven't fully utilised the facilities because I am busy with the exhibition. But I did a quick tour of the room. It comes with a balcony with a nice view. Separated hall & bedroom with big bathroom! 1 TV at the hall & 1 TV in the bedroom. It also has a fridge, microwave, and a stove for light cooking. The check-in & check-out were smooth & friendly front counter. I had a problem with the bedroom air-conditioning & they attended to it very fast! Breakfast has decent varieties. Parking is on the roadside - public car park, you can buy the parking coupon from the hotel. It's near Pasar Gaya, Pasar Filipino, shopping malls, convenience shops & restaurants. Overall, it is really worth the price. Good job & keep up the good works!

Very clean and new. Looks like being renovated. Came here for seminar as the talk is organized inside the hotel. The location is good as it is in the center of the city. Service is good except that check in counter only have 2 and average waiting time is about 30 minutes for check in. However, maybe due to the hotel is full, our rooms are not ready when we check in at 3pm. But the hotel upgrade our room to another available unit which we will give a credit to the hotel. Breakfast is good and many variety, only the structure of the dining area is very inconvenient as the dining area too small and many corners which is not convenient to obtain the food especially for the beverage counter. The dining que line is too long due to the location where both the coffee machine are too close to each other and doesn’t not have any turning point and the coffee machine is very very slow. Suggest to change to a bigger dining area as the dining area cannot fit the number of customers especially for a seminar of 200+ people and refill is slow and we only have 1 hour lunch time where queing for food already took almost half an hour. Other than the above, I am satisfied with the hotel.

An excellent stay in Kota Kinabalu. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here, largely in part because of the hotel. From the easy and friendly welcome at the reception, club lounge and restaurant to help from the travel desk, we received good service all around. The club lounge food while not varied, was good. I also loved the views from the rooftop bar. The pool looked to be a little dated but was still acceptable. The gym was well equipped! Unfortunately, I did not make a booking in time to try their massage services. Finally, the room was lovely. Comfy bed and pillows. The hotel is only 15 stories and we were on the 8th floor, while it's not very high the sea view was still gorgeous. Additional kudos, I appreciated that the laundry team could accommodate for washing of shoes as I had just completed the Mount Kinabalu hike. We made a spontaneous booking to Mari Mari Cultural Village and the travel desk service was really helpful in arranging our booking for the next day. All in all, a fantastic stay and I look forward to staying here again.

Hotel location is great, right beside Suria Sabah, the second largest mall in the area. Also 10 mins walk to Gaya street - the main food place and where the weekend market is. Size of our family room is also huge! Too bad we got a poor view from our room, if not it would be perfect. Service of staff is friendly and helpful. Only cons are the decor of the place is dated, and bath towels are worn down and some stained. The lighting of the bathroom is really dim, quite challenging to see clearly once inside.

The location was good as all the eateries and convenience stores were within walking distance. However, I could only give as little as 1 star to its cleanliness. My wife found out that there was a blood stain on the bedsheet and we requested it to be changed to the guy at the reception. We requested it while on our way out for dinner and the receptionist notified the housekeeper to handle it before we got back. When we returned, the bedsheet was still where it was, so I called reception again and I was appalled that he told me they got to the wrong room. The room number was mentioned to the reception earlier, but I was just shocked they could make such a silly mistake as tedious as this one.

This is the first complaint review I leave while living in Kota Kinabalu for the past eight years. I booked for a sleepover party I made to celebrate the 16th birthday of my beloved daughter and friends. The connecting room, birthday decoration, and extra bed that the hotel specifically requested were not prepared, and above all, the smell of mold from the room was shocking. I am an asthmatic. I couldn't complain in front of happy children, so I had a terrible night. When I woke up in the morning, the children also had a hard time with the smell of mold. I felt sorry and ashamed to my daughter and friends. I talked to the staff about the situations while checking out, and they told me to leave a review. Room numbers 7331 and 7332 must be checked.

Firstly, the service quality at the hotel is very high, with staff being friendly and helpful. Whether it's the reception or room service, they respond quickly to guests' needs and always with a smile. Secondly, the quality of the in-room dining is excellent. Whether it's breakfast or dinner, the food delivered to the room is not only fresh and delicious but also beautifully presented, making you feel genuinely welcome. It's particularly worth mentioning that I once accidentally left some items in the room. The hotel staff promptly contacted me and arranged to return the items quickly, which was very reassuring. However, there are a few areas where the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort could improve. Firstly, the hotel's location is relatively remote, making it inconvenient to hail a taxi, especially at night or during peak hours, which can be troublesome for guests who need to go out frequently. Additionally, there are some issues with the hotel's pool facilities. The edges of the pool may be rough, and I accidentally got a cut while using the pool. I hope the hotel can address this to enhance the safety and comfort of their guests. Overall, the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort remains a highly recommended accommodation choice, particularly for travelers seeking excellent service and delicious meals. If they can resolve the transportation and pool facility issues, this would be an ideal place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The only hotel in DesignHotelsTM group in Borneo island! The lobby and room design, coffee, cocktail and food quality is probably the best you'll find in Sabah and its at par with Singapore standards. The hotel doesn't just give you the environment of a design hotel, great coffee, bespoke cocktails, delicious food but it also offers true Sabahian hospitality that you will not experience anywhere else. As soon as I arrived, one of the hotel owners personally came and greeted me and spend his time to give me a tour and explain the concept of the hotel and its design. The design of the hotel is influenced by different Sabahian landscapes and local craftsmanship depicted through contemporary means. Materials and craft is all sourced locally. I had the chance to meet both the owners and their hospitality was unprecedented. They took their time to get to know me and introduce Sabah and its culture. Something that you will not experience at big chain hotels. The LUMA is a brand new hotel group. There will always be room for improvement in their services. The willingness to improve is there and they listen if you have any complaints or needs.
