Beautiful location but the resort itself is looking a lot more run down and unloved than expected. It feels like it's aimed at surfers and budget travellers. Rooms are basic, motel style but the bed was comfortable and clean enough. Meals are included and filling but there's no choice, just a plate of whatever the kitchen staff decide...usually some form of chicken with rice or potato. Breakfast is buffet style and pretty good but only instant coffee.
There are trips available to nearby islands, snorkel areas, surfing places and resorts which is good as there is not much to do at Funky Fish apart from sitting around the pool, going in the pool or playing uno
Staff work hard to keep the guests happy but the place needs some love and money spent on it

Funky fish is the perfect place if you sre in Fiji for surfing, diving, or just relaxing, and you are on budget. The staff is simply awesome, so familiar, and you get to experience the local vibes, which are more difficult to experience if you are in a big resort. The pool area is perfect to relax and the meals are great.
The beachfront bures are simple but enough for sleeping and taking a shower. Beds are big and comfy.

I LOVED FUNKY FISH. ALL THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I FELT LIKE I WAS WITH FAMILY. THEY CAN INVEST IN A PROPER COFFEE MACHINE.

If you come to Fiji just to see the sea and have a limited budget, you can come to this hotel. Many people who stay here come here to surf. The sea is right at the door and the food tastes good.

Stayed for 2 nights and felt that the house was clean. There was no hot water for showering on the first day, but there was hot water on the second day. The living environment is good, you can see the sea from the window, and the hotel has good greenery. The food was generally good. I had four main meals, one was simple, and the other three were rich and self-service, with meat and vegetables, moderately salty. Breakfast is a little simple, with juice, milk, bread slices, etc. You don't have to pay extra for the fried eggs you want. Drinking water is provided for each meal and is provided by yourself. The service attitude is also OK.

We stayed 5 days and 4 nights at the Funky, the best thing the Resort has is the Staff. Amazing food the best in Fiji. The facilities are rustic but are fine for the price that is handled in Fiji. Most of the activities are off the beach. That is a strategic point to move. The bad thing is its cleanliness, for example in the 5 days they never changed our towels, in fact we left them on purpose so they could take them away and nothing. A little more love to the facilities would help the staff who do magic to maintain everything.

I would never recommend Funky Fish Beach Resort to anyone. My friend and I stayed there, and it was a nightmare from start to finish. First off, the ONLY WiFi of the resort, that is in the main area didn’t work on any of our devices. On top of that, the food was absolutely awful—dry, bland, and downright disgusting. Both my friend and I ended up with stomach issues that prevented us from diving (the reason why we are in Fiji) and about three weeks later we both still are having issues. I would like to prefix that before our stay in funky fish, we had been staying on the coral coast for close to two months and had no problem with the Fijian or Indian style food served. While it’s nice that meals are included, you don’t get a choice in what they serve, so if you don’t like it, you just don’t eat. Every single time we had to rely on the resort for a boat taxi or excursions, they were consistently late—anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours behind schedule, with the average being closer to 2 hours late. This level of disorganization is beyond frustrating and unacceptable. We ended up checking out multiple days early, despite having paid in full, because we were absolutely miserable. The resort refused to give us any kind of refund, even though we couldn't bear staying there any longer. The room we stayed in (Cloud 9 with AC) involved climbing what felt like 1,000 steep, old wooden stairs, each one making us feel like I was going to fall through. And the room itself was so plain and uninvited, but clean. The overall vibe from the staff didn’t help—they all seemed completely unhappy and uninterested in their work, which added to the depressing atmosphere. If for some reason you still decided to stay at this “resort” I would HIGHLY recommend you bring your own bug spray or you will be covered head to toe in misquote bites. We had our own, and used It every time we walked out of the room, and still got eaten alive. Avoid this place at all costs!

Affordable place, catered and heaps of activities on offer such as transfers to cloud 9 floating bar. Gorgeous colourful locale and lovely helpful staff. Vinaka funky fish :) grab the kayak out to the reef at high tide for beautiful snorkelling right in front of the resort.

Fantastic place to stay while on the Fijian outer islands! Beautiful views, tasty and plentiful food, comfortable room along with amazing snorkeling right out front on the beach! But the best part are all the folks who work at the Funky Fish—the nicest group of people anywhere!!! Stay here, be happy, Vinaka Kevin Young

Absolutely amazing resort! We had the most amazing time with the staff and other guests. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, arranged activities and transfers for us which made our stay very easy a relaxing. The location was absolutely stunning and next time we’re in Fiji we’ll be staying the whole time at Funky Fish. The staff made it feel like one big family which was an amazing experience for the first time here in Fiji! Sota tale! :)

The Funky Fish is great for all activities related to the ocean. We went snorkeling, surfing, and swimming. There are additional activities where you can go island hopping, crab hunting, and scuba diving -- if any of those things interest you, then Funky is the place to go. The manager, Tu Mele handled all of our inquiries with ease, our boat driver, Skelley was attentive and on time, and the kitchen staff always knew how to show us a great time with dinner entertainment every night. The Funky Fish cultivates a small hotel community with surfers and other visitors talking about their island adventures. Since the eating and living room areas are communal, all of the guests find ways to connect. This sense of community sets Funky Fish apart from other accommodations and it should be one of the reasons why you book them for your next trip to Fiji.

Went there earlier this month with my 11 yo son Levi as it’s close to all the surf breaks. The Funky Fish staff were incredibly nice, our room was basic but clean and the food was very good as well. My son reckons that this was the best trip of his life and we’re both sad when we left yesterday. Perfect if you want to go surfing as they have a surf boat as well! Vinaka again to all the people who helped to make this an amazing trip.

It was the only disappointing experience in Fiji. The resort manager on site did what possible to make it right, the the poor management by headquarter made it a failure. The most troubling aspect was the significant financial loss caused by their mishandling of payments. I authorized them to charge the 50% deposit in June. Then I wanted to pay the balance in cash to avoid the 4% credit card fee they charge plus the unfavorable exchange fees from my bank. Yet, Without my authorization, they charged the full amount to my credit card (so they did not subtract the down payment, so it was 150% of the cost. They refused to reimburse the last payment and instead they reinhursed the down payment (still without the 4 % card fees nor the exchange fee). Net I lost more than 100€ because of their bad management. Additionally, the resort is outdated, really needs a renovation, and not clean enough (see the picture of stuff that fell constantly from the wooden roof onto my bed). food was mediocre. To the point we had decided to check out one night in advance (even knowing that we would have to pay for the full period)
