Hotels near 2 Cicli in Milan

The hotel is somewhat off-centre (away from the business districts of Milano), but within broader city centre with reasonable public transport (~20 mins tramway including wait at the stop) and ~10 mins by taxi. Lively city area for non-business travellers (tourists) with choice of restaurants and more public transport links to areas of interest. The cleanliness is rather good, I only scored it less (2/5) because of the interior in bad need of renovation. The design is 1970-s/1980-s and the age since last decoration is probably not much fresher. This gives it the appearance of a run-down place, although they make good effort to keep it clean. The choice of darker brow-nish colours, combined with the installation of (very) very economic light bulbs, makes the room feel too dark and thus - less pleasant to stay in. For a business traveller it is impossible to read anything outside the spot of the reading lamp. It is also impossible to shave in the dark-ish bathroom, except for people who know their face well enough to shave with their eyes closed. The extra lamp above the mirror did not work, it was a bare little bulb (apparently in need of replacement) and the lampshade gone. Further need for maintenance in the bathroom was the sink - with the waste plug not opening to empty the sink, and the latter filling to the safety hole near the top, even form just a brief handwash.. The breakfast area has capacity for a busy crowd in the rush hour of all tourists taking a late breakfast, but the staff struggle to serve everyone fast enough. Some supplies were not replenished (e.g. bread, the fruit juices, milk for coffees) and later nobody ever came to the table to ask if we need something (perhaps they are not meant to serve tables, just clean them and replenish supplies?) The reception area was much brighter lit than the rooms, had modern automatic glass doors, and overall felt newer and better. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Based on the overall experience, approx. 4/5 is a reasonable score, but by the hotel categorisation criteria I think 4 stars is too much and 3-star would describe it more accurately. They should remember that satisfaction is always biased by expectations - from the higher expectations of '4 stars' there would be more dissatisfied guests (like yours truly) than if you honestly promise a decent 3-star experience (then I'd have scored everything 5/5). This wouldn't impact revenues as, from what I know form MIlano hotels, the price was very competitive and would fit a 3-star property. Would I recommend it? To tourists - yes; to business travellers - only as a backup in case of fully-booked Milano like duringthe trade fair or Fashion Week ;)

I highly recommend this hotel. The room and bathroom were surprisingly spacious, very clean. The staff were super helpful with our many questions. There’s a nearby park, shopping mall, apertivo and easy to use trams to get around Milan. Breakfast was excellent. There’s a real attention to service at this hotel.

In Milan, I have also stayed at B&B Hotel Milano Cenisio Garibaldi, Hotel degli Arcimboldi, Lloyd Hotel, Hotel Pierre Milano, Hilton Milan & Mokinba Hotel King. Pros: - Location: (Walking) Porta Nuova (6mins), Corso Como (8mins), Brera Art Gallery (15mins), Monumental Cemetery (17mins), The Fashion District (20mins). - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, combined shampoo/body wash, shower cap, hairdryer. - Free in-room WiFi (average speed approx. 29Mbps). - Quiet at night. Cons: - Room design is rather impracticle: no chair with back if you need to work (only a pouf stool), small desk not deeper than a laptop, almost no storage spaces, very dimly lit, bright neon light for the keycard slot that you cannot disable during sleep, in-room safe not large enough for a tablet or laptop, no door on bathroom area (so if you travel with someone else, make sure you are comfortable seeing each other intimately). - Breakfast is quite odd and overpriced. Located in the reception area, you can see and overhear all the discussions with guests (or gossip among staff about guests, which we found rather unprofessional!). A set menu plate with no choice (so we had a lot of food wastage). No standard items, ie. no fruit yoghurt, no cereal, no pastries (only a mini donut and mini muffin), no fresh fruit, no hot food, savory items only a couple of slices of ham and cheese from a plastic supermarket packet. Same items every day, mainly bread-based. - Staff need more training for a 4-star hotel. Check-in was slow, used toiletries not replenished when cleaning rooms, unprofessional staff behaviour as mentioned above. - Quality of towels and toiletries very low (more suited to a 3-star hotel). - Many fire escape maps in the hallways are completely incorrect, wrong room numbers and wrong hallway designs. Unsure how these passed safety inspections.

A few years ago this was Mini Hotel Portello, very known among conventioneers heading to Milan Expo. Recently it has been acquired by B&B Hotels. Husband and myself spent there six days during our house renovation, we are very pleased about our staying. We got an updated room, spacious and bright, overlooking Via Silva; we were on third floor and never were annoyed by traffic nor by noise from street. There is storage space enough for an urban stay or short vacation, just one drawer though. Plenty of plugs for your devices, two chairs ( no sofa nor armchair - in Milan space is very precious!!). Bathroom was ample, well appointed, but a bit dated - very clean though. Room was serviced every day, I would say it was sparkling clean. We loved their buffet breakfast/so called ”Better than brunch”, they offer choices for everyone, gluten free and vegan included. The ”Sweet corner” had brioches,muffins, donuts and different cakes that were constantly replenished. At the ”Salty corner” we enjoyed Leerdammer and Brie cheese, assorted salami (Parma included) , scrambled eggs and wurstel. Of course there were freshly baked different kinds of bread, jam, Nutella, yoghurt and assorted cereals, milk , tea , a coffee machine (so so expresso for us Italians!!) and fresh orange juice. Definitely that good breakfast display can keep you going until dinner time!! B&B offers also a small bar and ”shop” with essentials such us ”forgotten” toiletries,bags of chips, shortbreads , sodas , bottles of water and, I believe, a few choices of wine. At walking distance - less than 5 minutes - there are two underground stations with different lines, you can reach Duomo square in twenty minutes! At walking distance,10 minutes, you can reach Citylife centre that offers many restaurants and various shops. A convenient supermarket is nearby as well. Highly reccomended

It is good to find such a hotel in Milan at this price. Although it is a little expensive, it is worth it. The rooms have been upgraded and the view is particularly good. I also helped park the car in the garage 100 years ago.

Service: Glam Hotel did not honour the booking but instead they put me up at Smart Hotel next door. Hence the review is on Smart Hotel. No explanation was given by Glam except that they had issues with their reservation system. My friends checked in 1 day earlier with no issues. Smart only provided body shower gel. No soap toothbrush etc.i also could not adjust the room temperature. It was hot. Room was clean though.

The hotel is very close to the train station, but the entrance is quite small, causing some difficulty in finding it. The breakfast on the top floor is excellent, and the rooms provide a view of the train station.

after reading a few bad reviews about the hotel i was skeptical about it however we found that it is actually very nice and didn't look like the pictures people have put on here. Our room was very spacious, clean and had a comfortable bed; the bathroom was also nice and clean with a good enough shower. the hotel is situated in china town and a bit further out than the main part of Milan so don't be fooled by the hotel name 'city center' because it is not! We didn't mind this though because we had an amazing receptionist inform us that the metro was a five minute walk and so was the nearest tram stop so we used trams the whole time we were there to get into Duomo which was very easy! The receptionist who informed us of this also gave us a map with lots of key places to visit and information about the city which was very helpful to us because we had never visited before (i think her name was francesca). The breakfast was also nice but we thought it had a very random and limited selection. Overall we enjoyed our stay here

I stayed in this hotel for almost two weeks in March and April 2023. I was satisfied in every way. The reception staff are all very experienced, helpful and kind. Special thanks to the Mr. Stefano and Mr. Simon and the all other colleagues. The breakfast was also very good. The hospitality of the ladies in the breakfast section was excellent. I had a long stay and the hotel staff treated me in such a way that I didn't feel like I was away from home. My room was big and very clean. The ladies who were in charge of cleaning the room were experienced in their work. All in all, I had a very good experience of staying there and I also strongly recommend this hotel to others. I´m not sure how it is like to stay at Ostelzzz for several nights, but I find it a very convenient solution for me who arrived around midnight in Milan, and already had leave from Milano Centrale by noon on the next day. I had a proper sleep for one night in a capsule. It really was a hostel, but with so much better privacy. Staffs were extremely kind and helpful. They gave me a welcome drink. Online check-in in advance made my actual check-in so much easier. Had everything I needed, incl breakfast, towel too. Clean and well-organized. Breakfast was simple, but more than good enough for me. I wouln´t hesitate to choose Ostelzzz next time.
