Our experience at this property was outstanding, from the warm welcome and daily game drives to the fantastic all-inclusive food and drinks (we likely gained a few pounds!). The game drive guides were exceptional, creating thrilling adventures tracking animals both in the forest and off-road. Dining was a treat, with a wide range of high-quality unlimited all inclusive food and drinks, made even better by the attentive and professional staff. The lodge is just 20 minutes from the airport, and you’re on the property as soon as you leave the terminal. The drive from the airport was a fantastic start for us, with sightings of impalas, giraffes, rhinos, and even lions. The reception staff were always friendly, greeting us each time we left or returned from game drives. Overall, an unforgettable experience!

The whole trip was just highlight on highlight. 2024 has been quite an exhausting year, and we decided we need to just get away for a few days. Being South African the Kruger and surrounding private camps/lodges are always the ideal trip. Due to the price point Kapama Karula was more of a “wish we could” rather than an automatic first choice. We had a look at a few places and just decided, it must be Kapama Karula. We booked our stay for 4 nights and it was just magical. On the game drives we saw everything we possibly could, and the Tracker and Ranger, Tumelo and Justice, were a great team. The rooms are exquisite, luxurious and private. The chef and kitchen staff are amazing, every meal is a treat. The entire Kapama Karula team is exceptional, and I hope we will get the opportunity to return.

The staff, the grounds, the beds and everything else inbetween was just exceptional! My children were also looked after and enjoyed the food and food and pool. The only downside was that the kids club was not open during the week days. Otherwise everything else was superb x

Overall a good stay. There have been several noticeable improvements since my previous visit (a few years ago). A new menu, improved wi-fi coverage, and some updated furnishings in the room all contributing to an improved experience.

African Rock Lodge offers luxury thatched-roof accommodation in Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. It features an outdoor pool with sun terrace, a rustic bar and a shared TV lounge. The en-suite bathrooms are decorated with earthy stone tiles and have double washbasins, a rain shower, a bath and free toiletries. A daily buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant or enjoy a typical South African barbecue on the tiled terrace. There is a well-stocked bar, DVDs and books in the guest lounge. Attractions in the area include game drives, horse riding, hiking and tours of Kruger National Park. More adventurous options are canoeing and river rafting, which can all be arranged at the tour desk. Blyde River Canyon is a 40-minute drive away from African Rock Lodge. An airport shuttle is available for Eastgate Airport, 11 km away by car.
