We were given a room next to the restaurant, if you want to sit outside at the balcony you are literally sitting next to one of the tables in the restaurants. To keep some privacy we closed the curtain the whole time and that is the only window in the room so basically we could not enough at all. Also it’s very noisy so you cannot rest. I have raised the issue to one of the staff, and got a reply of “only until 10pm every night and all the other rooms are similar”. Anyway we requested to change to another room but only available the next day. Moreover the shower temperature is not stable, during the shower it became super hot and cold suddenly. After googling we discovered another guest complained about the exact same thing as us one month ago. The hotel room also lacking basic stuff like kettle, fridge and wine glasses etc. Gym is not available at all. The swimming pool is so small you can barely swim. Also the hotel is quite far from city so prepare to pay 200pesos each way. The staff for the guest services also have very limited English so we ordered the taxi several times and found out it wasn’t ordered. Also the hotel staff texted us on WhatsApp several times on WhatsApp in Spanish and we have been quite clear at the beginning we do not understand Spanish. Other than the stuff mentioned above, other staff are helpful and nice. But definitely overpriced for what it is.

Tranquility, excellent food and a beautiful place to unwind are the hallmarks of this hotel. Without exception, the hotel staff was attentive and welcoming, and we felt like personal guests for our entire stay. I recommend booking the hotel cars for airport trips and sight-seeing trips. The local taxis are a bit of a wild ride and the hotel transport felt safer and certainly more comfortable. Tips for first timers to Oaxaca: pace yourself on sight-seeing, the trips can be long and the roads a bit bumpy. On visits to textile houses and mezcal making, the expectation is that you buy at the end of the tour; the preferred payment is in pesos. The locals are very proud of their heritage, and it is well worth hiring a tour guide at the historic sights as they are a wealth of information. We learned so much!

This place by far is the best place to stay in Oaxaca if you are looking for luxury, services, ambiance and very good food specially breakfast. It’s located 15-20 min away from city center (down town) in a great charming neighborhood which allows you to be away from the busyness but yet short taxi drive. The stuff are super friendly and professional and everyone one was super hospitable. The rooms are very clean and unique but also charming, I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for something a bit luxurious without breaking the bank as in my opinion it’s priced just right for what and where it is.

This is a lovely boutique hotel far from the madding crowd in downtown Oaxaca. It is in a beautiful section of town along the hills above the city. Staff here were very gracious and helpful. They responded to every request. The restaurant on the property has beautiful views all around. Breakfast was delicious and so were the margaritas and mezcal drinks. We had a room on the second level which also had wonderful views. Each evening we had a special surprise waiting for us on the bed. Fresh water was plentiful and served each day with an herb inside the water bottle. Room amenities were not lacking. TV worked great and included Netflix. Bird of paradise flowers were placed in the room and there was also a welcome snack.

This is surely the best address in Oaxaca for charming hotels. Set back a little from the city centre, it is an oasis of tranquillity. The house is superbly decorated in exquisite taste, with beautiful pieces of local handicraft and works by the artist Manuel Miguel. The food is delicious and tasty, and the service is excellent. The staff are helpful and charming. A big well done to Manuel who is an exceptional concierge and a great professional who will be able to guide you in your search for tours or visits. You feel very much at home at Casa Santo Origen and have an excellent stay.

Great property, amazing service and fantastic hotel. Everything was amazing for one of the nicest boutique hotels we've ever stayed. We were in the Canada room that came with an outdoor jacuzzi, perfect for a nice cool night in December. Look no further if traveling to Oaxaca
