When we arrived at check-in with our family of 6, we were told that we would not be given connecting rooms as promised over the phone. After a very long wait, they put us in 2 rooms not even close to each other. On top of that, it was the garden view, with the pool closed for a private event and preparation for a party. We would have to wait until after 5 pm for one of the rooms to be cleaned. They allowed us to access the double bedroom. When we walked in, it smelled like sewage. I called the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. She was accommodating and moved us to the club level - 2 rooms not next to each other. Yippee. Again, this is annoying when you have packed your bags a certain way, you have small children, and you know you will have to walk up and down the hallways to borrow items during your stay. The club level was a nice way to make up for the mishap. The food at this hotel is outrageously expensive. The club level has a full bar and lots of small bites throughout the day. The club-level hallways get a lot of traffic, and the carpets are always dirty. Food, hairballs, and paper trash were all seen. We had a nice rest that night. Going into day 2, we contacted the front desk to see if they had the connecting rooms as promised. They advised us that we needed to get out of our rooms immediately so that they could be cleaned for the next guests. They would store our luggage all day until our rooms would be ready. I mean, what terrible Customer service. We said that we would not be leaving the rooms we were paying for and that we would not let them store our luggage. The hotel ended up putting us in connecting oceanfront rooms after lunch. We had to leave the beach to come change rooms. Annoying, but a better situation for our family. The hotel is overcrowded. They can't keep up with the demand. Our shower doesn't drain. Stains on the carpet. Stains on our blanket in the closet. The valet costs $70 a day. It is always backed up. Be prepared to wait. 45 minutes wait to get ice delivered to your room. The guests below are smoking on their balcony. This makes it hard to smell the ocean or open your patio doors. The pool area is not clean. Cups, old towels and the pool looks slightly green. The basketball and playground areas were dirty with old cups and food containers. The beach is okay if you don't mind watching surfers. If you like to swim, you have to walk down to the public beach area. The lifeguards will remind you all day long. But, you feel like a rockstar when you don't have to carry all that beach junk down to the beach. They have everything you need! We have stayed at other Ritz hotels and know that this is not typical. We hope that they can make some changes before they lose their reputation.

We are DVC and bagged a room at the VGC in early August. First thing- the building and lobby and overall vibe are beautiful. The bell person who greeted us was outstanding, Sorry didn’t get his name but he’s 50s, slim guy, and extremely talkative and helpful, the true ‘Disney Difference’ type employee. Check in was a very slow and lengthy experience although the lady was very nice. Queues at 3pm. This could be speeded up. Room wasn’t obtained until just after 4. We had a disappointing outlook room, ground floor, corner, facing directly at back entrance to Californian Adventure. Security guards stood around and no real barrier for privacy so never sat on patio. However, we realised the room had some advantages in that you could be in the park in about 40 steps. Room was nice enough. Would I pay over $1000 a night for it cash? Not worth it but booked on points. They are getting so they need a refurb although still in decent shape. It was all very dark though, perhaps not helped by room position in bottom corner of hotel. Craftsman’s bar was a bit disappointing for food. It was OK quality but very, very slow at coming out. Mine was comped. The bar itself with live music is lovely though and cocktails good. Pool is beautiful but at the same time disappointing. It’s disappointing because there are not enough sun loungers. This is partly due to Disney greed, who have turned over about a third of the already too small pool area to paying cabanas. This is partly due to lack of management. They are meant to have wristbands on people, but half did not have them and half the time there were no staff on the gate to put them on. I personally witnessed at 8am a family coming in the front of the hotel who didn’t seem to be staying there (very easy to get in despite needing a key card as the gate is constantly opened onto the sidewalk) who I saw walk into the pool area, they had no card and waited for gate to open and went in. Disney can see from the reviews on Tripadvisor this pool seating issue is a major problem. They need to do something about it. If that includes removing the cabana area and taking a hit on upcharges, they need to do it. They need to get really strict on pool management and wrist bands. When you are paying this much for a hotel, not being able to get sun beds is totally unacceptable. Shame as pool itself is lovely and live music even in the day. The characters also seemed to plead daily at around 4 pm for a pool party. Gym great. The DVC team here here we’re very nice people. Obviously location is fantastic.

Customer service is lacking in some of your employees. Colin, specifically, the front desk person should NOR be speaking to guests. When I called the front desk from my room asking for more pillows and blankets. Why? Because there were 4 people in the room, and the sofa bed is not the most comfortable. Colin answers the phone and said in an unfriendly tone: ”Let me see what I can do.”. That is not the way to talk to a customer. I asked him: ”What do you mean?”. He said: ”Some of the guests may have already taken all of the blankets and pillows.” Well, this is a hotel. I was under the assumption that hotels have extra pillows and blankets. Anyway, what a stupid way to answer! He could have said: ”No problem. I will have someone deliver those to you right away.” The nice gentleman who showed up from housekeeping came back to our room 4 times. He was the sweetest. I wish I remembered his name. He got us blankets, and then pillows. He even reminded me that we had pillows and blankets in the bag on the top of the closet. I also forgot that I needed an additional bath towel because there were only 3 in the bathroom. Once again, housekeeping gave me an extra towel. He was very customer-oriented UNLIKE Colin (from the front desk) who should not be working in this industry which entails being customer-focused. Maria was very good. She even helped me book the room for 7/16/2022 when I had a problem booking it online on 7/11/2022. She stayed on the phone with me until I got the booking confirmed. I had the opportunity to meet Maria when we checked out. She is very pleasant. On the other hand, Colin, should be reprimanded for bad customer service skills. He needs to GO. He also doesn't explain anything upon check-in. He rushed everything. He just handed me the key and asks me to refer to the card in the back of the key holder. He has no warmth.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this small charming hotel, but we did have a few bumps and a few comments to make. We liked the style of our room that continued the yacht club vibe of the hotel. The blue and white room was cheerful with some built-in shelving, textured walls, and custom light fixtures that gave the space a homey but sophisticated look. We also appreciated ample drawer space and an empty mini refrigerator to put our own items in. We did not use the TV during our stay, but if we had, the best way would have been from the bed as the lounger in the room faces away from the screen. The black and white tiled bathroom was attractive with a large walk-in shower. We did have an issue with the air conditioning not really getting to a comfortable level until the middle of the third night of our stay, despite reasonable and consistent outside temperatures. Also of note two of the six showers taken by us were cool. A highlight of the hotel is the pool which is located in a courtyard surrounded by the hotel. It is nice and long and seems to have more than enough loungers around it. The gym is accessed off a covered corridor next to the pool and has a few cardio machines, windows to the pool, but limited workout equipment. We did not use or see the spa. We had breakfast at the very stylish Mayor’s Table and enjoyed a good meal and service. Overall the staff at the hotel was friendly with the parking valets a real standout. They looked great in their sporty causal outfits and always had the car available within minutes. The location of the hotel is great for easy walks to the beach or the cute Lido Marina Village shopping area where you will find a collection of great upscale restaurants overlooking a marina, plus a few shops. The hotel however is surrounded by roads, one of them very busy, and its own parking lot. There seems to be limited meeting space which we think is a good thing so the chances of a large group overwhelming the hotel are slim. Since this hotel often can charge more than $600 for the cheapest room we expected higher quality basic room features. The bed sheets were thin and average, the toilet paper thin and cheap, and the toilet seat surprisingly not a soft close model. And to be picky, we thought the pool loungers should have been cushioned at this pricing level. Parking is $46 per day, and the resort fee is $35 a day but does include use of bikes and a beach shuttle. Neither of which we used.

The Waterfront Beach Resort, A Hilton Hotel

Although this is named a RESORT, the service and amenities are lacking, therefore I consider this a hotel. The location is across the highway from the sand, so be careful when crossing. The hotel offers beach chairs, bike rentals and umbrella's for a charge. HB allows firepit's on the beach and the hotel will provide a space, chairs and wood for $200. The rooms are on the small side and a partial ocean view will have a very small balcony with two chairs and a table. We had to put the table in our room to move the chair positions. It's tight. We faced south and had a good morning view of the sand and waves in the distance. There is a bed and small couch in the room. The bathroom is minimal, so don't expect Q-Tips, shower cap or thread kit. Housekeeping is ”by request only” and you must notify the front desk early in the morning if you want service. You will not sleep well if you expect to leave your window open. Pacific Coast Highway is very busy with racing cars, loud motorcycles and poolside partying. No wave crashing melodies. There are two pools, one for families and children, the other for adults. It appears that the hotel doesn't care if children use the adult pool, as it was packed with children. Over the weekend the adult pool had a DJ which was nice. The pool service was terrible. Both days drinks took up to an hour and food took longer than that to be delivered. There were three servers, so the problem was the bar and kitchen. You have three choices to eat a meal on site. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They only offered a buffet on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast, no ala carte. We tried to order coffee to take it upstairs and they said we would have to go to the marketplace gift store. 10 people in line, slow help and an hour later we walked away with two cups of coffee and a croissant. This place has a few gift store items, however the snacks available were minimal at best. They do offer a decent (not great) pizza. Although it is advertised as thin crust, ours was thick. The main Boardwalk restaurant has an eclectic array of food and for many, it may be difficult to find something satisfying to eat. We ate lunch and dinner here on one occasion. The third restaurant opens for dinner only. The menu items didn't appeal to us and it's likely others agreed. All three nights there were very few patrons. There was a guitarist playing music on Friday and Saturday evening. If Huntington Beach was your destination and you happened to stay at the Hilton, the location is ideal. You are a 20 minute drive to Newport Beach, to enjoy fine dining in the evening, or visit the number of restaurants next door at the outdoor shopping mall or Main Street which is 1/2 a mile away. It's an easy walk. The crowd on Main St tends to get pretty rowdy at nights, and I wouldn't suggest leaving your teenagers there alone or with friends. It's a big bar scene, but great for people watching. For the amount of money spent over the c

We have stayed here before and it was amazing, family owned and cozy hot spot. I’m not going to lie when I found out it was under new ownership and new employees but... wow I was beyond impressed!! Great place to stay with family. I was in the big room with my daughters for their spring break this year and I couldn’t have asked for better service. Check in was simple and easy The rooms are totally accommodating for family trips and I’d imagine others for solo. But our stay was fantastic, we had the big room right next to the sun deck and the ocean is about a 700 ft walk (if that really)! Great place to stay happy they’re still open during covid. This place went above and beyond— my daughter got bit by something or stung at the beach and the woman at the front desk that evening was able to pull out a first aid kit immediately to help us and accommodate ALL needs. She told me the room we were in was labeled the “party room” 219 and she was very kind, friendly, informative and did anything she could to help us with the sting or bite plus our stay. I can’t remember her name but she works evenings and I believe her name started with a K or Kayla. If she is the one checking you in then you will be in great and safe hands! The Newport Channel Inn is doing better than ever and we cannot wait to come back (minus the bite/sting from the beach) It may look older from the outside but the quality of the feeling of home being away from home, those special employees and the beach right across the street will always have me as a repeat guest!!!

Overall, not bad. Breakfast is fruity, yoghurt, coffee, bread ham, etc., very rich. There is a big parking lot. There is also a mini swimming pool, about 10 meters long, to go swimming once, the water temperature is already very low, the next day I dare not swim, take the children to the exam, afraid of a cold. The first two nights of the room were on the side of the road. The time difference was too noisy. I couldn't sleep at 5 o'clock. I changed the room on the third night, which was quite quiet.

I would have given it a zero rating. The was under renovation now, with dust and ducts and cords scattered around. Front desk was practically non-existent; you need to ring a bell to talk to a staff member. Rooms were SO dirty, with so many stains on the carpet. Smelly bathroom. Stained pillows and towels. AC smelt like homeless shelter. I changed 3 rooms, either because the lights could not be turned on or AC temperature adjustment was down. I never imagined Hilton could have such a place under their brand. The only thing admirable was the front desk staff, always calm and poised at my complaints. Shouldn't such a hotel be closed temporarily for renovation?

The Hotel was very easy to find and just a five minute walk to the beach. First impression was a little doubtful as the tiny checkin office is a little unkempt and the staff although friendly could definitely be more professionally dressed. There is not an elevator but it is only 3 floors. The steps are in need of paint which would help with that first impression. Then we stepped into our very lovely third floor Harbour view jacuzzi room! It was perfect for our stay! Spacious and modern with a lovely Harbour view. The shower pressure was fine and our bed was comfortable. The furniture modern. We had a fridge and microwave. Maid service was fine. We could leave our car parked in the free garage and walk to several restaurants as well as the beach.. Great qstay and would definitely return.

My wife and I often stay at Marriot properties throughout the United States. We are retired and do a lot of travel in the US and abroad. The customer service at each Marriott Hotel location has been very good, however at the Marriott Bayview, Newport Beach the service we received upon arrival and all throughout our one-week stay were exceptional. Let me explain. When we arrived at the Hotel, my wife and I was greeted by Josiah Escamilla, the Manager. To say he was very professional, very polite, and very accommodating is an understatement. Josiah was excellent in the attention he gave us, his professional demeanor, and most of all the unbelievable hospitality that Josiah showed us was just…incredible. Never before have we ever been treated with such hospitality in such a professional and courteous manner. Josiah made our stay just an absolute delight. Josiah made certain that whenever we called for room service or for extra towels, blankets, etc., we got what we needed in record time. Josiah was very knowledgeable about events and activities in the hotel and the various amenities the hotel had to offer e.g., restaurant, in-room dining service, gym, outside walking trail, etc. He and his staff made our stay very enjoyable. When we left the hotel, my wife thought that she had lost her purse, we called Josiah to inform him of the loss and within just 15 minutes Josiah called us back to let us know that he had gone back to our room and found my wife’s purse. He then secured the purse in the Hotel safe and insisted that he be the one to give it to my wife when she returned the following day to pick it up. Josiah also was able to correct an error in our Lifetime Gold Elite membership points, which upon our checkout had not been added to our account. He called us to inform us that he made the correction and as a result, the points we earned during our stay, were added to our existing points balance. He and his staff must be acknowledged for the tremendous work they put in to make our visit so comfortable and so enjoyable. We really appreciate the unbelievably high level of service we received throughout our stay. This kind of exceptional service we enjoyed, thanks to Josiah and the rest of his staff, Christine, Maryam, Mariana, Stephanie, Anthony, Tommy, and Josef is why we will continue to stay at Marriott Hotels and particularly the Bayview Marriott, Newport Beach. Kudos to Josiah and the entire staff at the Marriott Bayview Hotel, Newport Beach, California. Thank you, Brian W.

Would never stay here again! We had to contact the front desk twice within an hour of check in. Tub jets were disgusting. Sand in tub bottom of tub. Drain in tub clogged. Spot of what appeared to be blood in tub. Large stain on white duvet. Housekeeping came late the night we checked in (after a long day of travel) to change bedding and clean tub with bleach. The next day I asked for tub to be cleaned again as tub jets were still filthy and stain was still in tub. Maintenance came and drain was still not working. We basically had to stand in dirty water while we showered the whole weekend. I spoke to the hotel manager who comped about 1/3 of the cost of our stay for the weekend. We appreciate this, but the complete lack of cleanliness during a global pandemic was alarming. The area was gorgeous. We loved the balcony in our room. There were a lot of stairs to get to or from our room, that could be an issue for some guests.
