I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at DoubleTree, particularly with Room 5312, which completely ruined my family trip. Having stayed at other DoubleTree locations, I expected far better standards. Unfortunately, this experience was nothing short of a nightmare.
The most alarming issue was the baby cot. Unbeknownst to us, the cot had a loose and unfixed opening underneath. As a result, my 10-month-old baby fell through it during the night, landing head-first on the floor. This caused him to cry uncontrollably throughout the night, and I suspect he may have sprained his neck from the fall. This level of negligence is unacceptable, and I am seriously considering legal action against DoubleTree for providing unsafe equipment that endangered my child.
Additionally, the air conditioning posed a significant problem. The direct airflow from the unit blew onto both my wife’s and my face, making it impossible to sleep. When we attempted to turn it off, the room became unbearably hot after a few hours, forcing us to turn it back on and disrupting our sleep further. The inability to adjust the temperature beyond the controlled range of 24 to 25 degrees Celsius only exacerbated the discomfort.
The bathroom layout was another major inconvenience. The use of two hinged doors in such a small space created a frustrating clash, leaving little room to move. A sliding door would have been a far more practical design choice. Furthermore, the shower’s separate hot and cold adjusters felt outdated and inconvenient, requiring constant adjustment to achieve a comfortable temperature.
The pillows provided were far too soft, offering inadequate support. To improve guest comfort, I recommend offering pillows of varying firmness and height, given that four pillows are provided.
Overall, the experience was deeply unsatisfactory, making it feel as though I paid to suffer through a sleepless and uncomfortable night. On a more positive note, the breakfast was acceptable, and the children’s facilities were adequate. However, these minor positives do not outweigh the numerous shortcomings.
