Bio Hotel Raphael - Relais & Châteaux

Navona Rome|0.16km from Level Club
We're still trying to reconcile the fact that this hotel is a Relais & Chateaux property because the experience was so extremely mediocre. We've stayed in properties around the world and have never encountered such a three-star property. The best way to characterize it is if a Radisson Blu tried to be a luxury hotel. But rather than provide impressions, I'll just share some specifics: Pros: - good central location - quiet Cons: - politely, indifferent service: before we came, we asked them about the parking situation because we were arriving in a car. They gave us two options, self-park a little ways a way or the hotel could park it for us. We asked the hotel to park it, but they did not warn us that they are on a one way street that is difficult to navigate, so we ended up going around in circles (Google Maps tried to lead us down an alley that was half the width of a standard car). When I got out of the car to ask, the front desk was astonishingly indifferent, also pointing out that the only way to arrive at the hotel was to drive through a street that was prohibited for non-locals (which is different than the response we got via email). - the room: tiny and felt like a radisson blu. there is no coffee machine in the room, only a cheap hotpot and teabags. (not a big deal but this should be standard issue at this level). capsule coffee is available by the front desk. - shampoo and soap are in cheap plastic dispensers that are attached to the bathroom walls. You squeeze the bottle to get some. The quality of both were unremarkable. The shampoo and conditioner. I understand that small bottles are wasteful. However, at this level, there are better ways to present this. They might take a lesson from Aman properties, who puts branded products in very nice dispensers. - bathtub is very narrow and the ”rain forest” shower on one end is attached so far to the edge that you have to stand partly on the sloped edge to fully stand under the water. - box of tissues was empty except for a couple tissues stuffed in at the top (which shows that the cleaning person knew it was empty) - the bathroom was so small that the towel holder was right next to the shower head inside the glass enclosure. - the bed/mattress: the hotel has the weirdest feature ever, which is that it has an outdated adjustable feature that ”lets” you move the head, foot and middle of the mattress. It's a feature that no one looks for in a hotel bed, and because the technology is so old, it's not great. Long story short, the mattress actually never laid exactly flat, so I had the most uncomfortable sleep. The foot of the bed was a little raised, so it felt like the middle of my body was in a hole. On top of that, the bed had an extremely soft mattress pad (as if you're sleeping on a bunch of comforters). If you like a firm bed, this is a non-starter. The only explanation for this hotel still being a Relais & Chateaux is that they have not done an inspection in a long time

Dom Hotel Roma - Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Navona Rome|0.34km from Level Club
This atmospheric and well located hotel is at the very top of our list of hotels to stay in while in Rome. We needed to be at the Vatican everyday; this hotel was perfectly positioned so that we could easily access the Vatican on foot - and also so close to Campo de Fiore and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (and surrounding neighborhoods), it was easy to find wonderful food after a short walk. (It was also an easy walk to the Forum and the Colosseum). Our double deluxe room was large, with huge windows, an extremely comfortable and large bed and plenty of storage (a built in closet). The bathroom was quite big with good lighting and an excellent hair dryer. Breakfast at the hotel is not to be missed - it was lavish (and was included in our stay) and changed every day (there were always different pastries, quiche, tiny breakfast sandwiches, along with a 'permanent' bar of cereals, juices, the MOST delicious fruit and yogurts). I believe that most of their breads and pastries were made on premise - which is very impresive, given how good they were! The hotel was exceedingly clean in all aspects and the staff was truly wonderful - happy and attentive. I read previous complaints about noise from the carabinieri stationed across the street in front of their building - but it seems that the hotel has installed soundproof windows, so it was easy enough to create a quiet room. It's a lively neighborhood (although this section of Via Giulia isn't lined with bars and restaurants), but the spillover from nearby establishments can sound like a party if you choose to open your windows. We found Hotel Dom very comfortable and accommodating and highly recommend it.

Rose Garden Palace Roma by Omnia Hotels

Via Veneto Rome|2.02km from Level Club
We enjoyed a 3 night stay at Rose Palace. The front desk gave us tired travelers a warm welcome that made us relax immediately. Our room overlooked the back of the American Embassy with guards stationed outside 24/7 so it was definitely safe. The hotel is a little off the beaten path from the usual touristy spots in Rome but in a very quiet area. The room was very clean. We had 3 in our room and the 3rd person had to sleep on a full size pull out couch. It was comfy for a pull out (you couldn’t feel the bar under the mattress) but unless you put up the bed every day the only place to sit were the beds. It had a small fridge and the bathroom was updated but limited on counter space around the sink. The buffet breakfast was geared toward a variety of tastes. Scrambled eggs, a variety of pastries, orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese, meat, etc. When the weather was nice we enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. There is a tiny grocery store called Co-op around the corner where you can buy the basics. Also on the next block is an ATM in the alcove of the bank entrance that seemed secure to use. Reading older reviews we thought there was a restaurant in the hotel serving dinner but it turned out to just be a small bar. So we walked a couple of blocks north and ate at Cesarina and enjoyed a good meal and friendly staff. There were a lot of other restaurants to pick from in a 2-3 block radius. The ones on Via Vittorio Veneto appeared to be more expensive than the ones northeast of the hotel. There is a taxi stand a couple of blocks away and we used both Uber and inTaxi for rides back to the hotel.

The Hive Hotel

Termini Central Station Rome|2.19km from Level Club
Great location. Any major attraction can be reached within 20 minutes. Spacious room with a very comfortable mattress. Very helpful staff both at the reception and during room service. We initially had a corner room, but found it a little noisy for us. At the reception they changed it without any problems for another one. There are several good restaurants nearby. Reception's recommendations were also excellent. The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but in the same building on the base floor there is a garage (not the hotel), which can be accessed without entering the ZTL zone. Price 35 euros per day. But opposite the garage there is a paid city parking lot, where you can also leave your car. To get into the hotel from a garage or parking lot, you need to call from downstairs so that a receptionist will come and open the door to the elevator hall. We liked the breakfast. There was a bit of a lack of variety in egg dishes, but there was plenty of other stuff. I think the main disadvantage is the paid gym and spa. And if the spa is somehow explainable, then the gym is usually free for hotel guests. The price for visiting guests is 9 euros. Restaurant is fine. You get the voucher with 20% discount when check-in so the price becomes reasonable. Overall we enjoyed our time at the hotel and will return here again. We have just returned from a wonderful 4 night break at this hotel which was located a few minutes walk from Piazza Navona. On arrival, we were upgraded to a suite which was a large comfortable space. We had a living area with large TV, sofa, fridge and a lovely coffee machine and a lovely double bedroom, bathroom with a powerful rain shower. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was in the restaurant next door and was plentiful with fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs, cold meats, cheese and an array of cakes and crossaints. There was noise from the bars outside but to be honest once the doors and shutters were closed we didn't notice the noise. All in all we had a wonderful stay and will definitely use this hotel when we return to Rome. Thank you Navona Palace for a perfect stay.

Airbnb came. It was a long time for the boss to come. But the boss was very enthusiastic and introduced us to the scenic spots and how to buy tickets quickly.

The hotel is very cost-effective. At this price, it is not easy to find a room with a balcony near the center of the city. There is also a small balcony, which is the best. You can see the scenery and the front desk is also very good. . The only downside is that the shower water in the bathroom is too small. And the water temperature is very low. Hope that it will be even better if the hotel makes improvements. 😊

This hotel stole money from us, plain and simple. But let me start from the top. This was our honeymoon. - To ensure a simple booking, we booked through the hotel website directly. During processing their website showed an error screen and said unsuccessful. Thus another attempt was made and a single successful booking creates. Come to the day before check-in they had put two bookings in their system and expected to be paid for both, despite only having one booking on my end. This was the beginning of a trend where if anything went wrong with them or their system, it was our responsibility to fix it for them. Upon checking-in the hotel still reinforced we were wrong and that I had two bookings, but allowed us to check into our room. We got in, but we spent our last day in the Amalfi Coast on our honeymoon scared we would have nowhere to stay when arriving in Rome if we had to cancel to prevent the expensive duplication. - Uneasy from the events we promptly locked our passports and valuables in the safe following the 2 step procedure displayed on a card in the safe: enter code, press lock. When tested to open the safe, the code was rejected over and over until an alarm began screeching through the halls. Going downstairs every attendant had disappeared and we were without our valuables and passports until the next day. After assistance we were told it was our fault we didn’t press the reset button inside the safe - that was not part of the use steps. - We were mortified to think if we had put our passports in the safe the last night, we would not have had them to return home. - The Italian breakfast is a lie. Next morning we asked where the Italian breakfast stated plainly on our booking receipt was located, they simply reflected it no longer existed - yet they are still selling it on their website today. The breakfast was a deciding factor in choosing them over other hotels, but that was our problem not theirs. - They stole money from us with a bait-and-switch. After this many issues, the last day I looked up the hotel online. I had paid for a “Superior” room. The room images are online, we were put in a “Standard” room which should have cost at least $90 less for the stay. They will claim this is an error, please differentiate this for yourself based on context. - Consistency. On check-out we owed €4 for waters. They told us our card did not work and I had to use different money. They repeated this 4 times and 5 times I ensured my card works perfectly fine. Magically, my card worked the next time. Once again, my job to fix their faulty system. ~ There was a million hotels available in the area, all fantastic and at good rates. This one was beautiful and called themselves a BnB. There was no breakfast, so just a B. And the bed was not comfortable enough to trust this company with my personal credit card and my valuable belonging I could not even protect in a safe.

I must start this review with the host, Laura..... she sent me a text through WhatsApp a couple days before our arrival date introducing herself, welcoming us and asked to share our travel information so that she was prepared for us. From that moment, the level of customer service was amazing! Since we arrived early in the morning (an overnight flight from the US), she had made a suggestion on having breakfast across the street. Her communication was excellent and she sent specific photos, there was no way we could have gotten mixed up. The suites were very clean, spacious and perfect for our family of four. The beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was perfect. Anytime I had a question, Laura responded quickly. The hotel is centrally located to everything, on a smaller street, so the traffic was minimal. The restaurant across the street, Firo, was amazing as well. The staff was super friendly and it felt like a second family to us. I would highly recommend HiSuites and plan on going back.
Hotel Teatro Pace

I knew this was an older hotel, which I didn't mind...it added to it's charm. The room was very basic, but clean. There is no elevator so we carried our luggage up 4 flights of winding stairs. The location is centrally located which is what we wanted because it was our first trip and we wanted to be close to all the ”highlights” of Rome. I'm giving Hotel Teatro Pace an ”average” rating instead of ”poor” because of the positives (the sound of the church bells of the nearby basilica, the coffee shop around the corner where we got our cappuccino and cornetti for only 4 Euro for 2 people in the mornings, and the nightlife that magically appeared right outside the hotel door at night). What I wasn't happy with was our bill. We stayed for 4 nights this October. Our bill was nearly $800 Euro, that did not include breakfast. It was just my husband and I. I was told it was because of city taxes, but that still seemed high to me for the kind of room we stayed in...like I said, it was basic, no frills, just a double bed and bathroom. We stayed in similar rooms throughout Italy and it was half that price. We also stayed in beautiful rooms and even a winery in Florence...the nightly rate for those were just over 200 Euros...I expected to pay that for the luxury quality of the rooms. So I just felt like Teatro Pace ripped us off and overcharged.
