Lovely friendly staff on reception and at the bar. Lots of fresh tasty breakfast options. The only negative at breakfast was that the hot water machine must have been in need of a good descale as tea was quite scaly. The room was very clean, quiet and adequately equipped. Good aircon, showers and towels. Bed was a little hard though. Lifts can be busy so tricky and c yourself on a high floor (there are 12) The other guests seemed to be mainly pre or post cruise passengers from all over the world - some looked very jet lagged.

Booked a room and called to request an extra bed. All agreed. At arrival, staff insist no extra bed and couldn't care less as I was told ”well there's nothing we can do”. Appalling service for such a big hotel.

This was my first time venturing out into the world after the pandemic and a coeliac diagnosis two years ago. The hotel was quite busy on the Friday when I checked in and only one lift was working, but that really was a small niggle. The lift was repaired by the time I returned to the hotel in the early evening. The restaurant was great when it came to catering to my gluten allergy. There were a few options, and the guy at the front of house went the extra mile to check if the fish was fried in the same oil as non-GF food. Unfortunately, that was the case, and I'd suggest that either provision is made for a separate fryer, or the GF designation is taken off that item on the menu. But there were other things I could have, so it wasn't really a problem. Breakfast was excellent. The lovely young lady at the front of house took my order and explained that the chef would prepare it in a GF-section of the kitchen, so I'd have a 15 minute wait. It really wasn't a problem and it was well worth the wait. Beautifully prepared, generous portion. Friendly service. The room was fine. I loved pulling back the curtains in the morning and seeing the massive cruise ships in port. Only quibble was the pillows, but I'm picky. Otherwise the room was nice and clean, and I appreciated the a/c. I would definitely stay here again.

We were a group of 6 golfers on a weekend trip.Booking in time was from 2.00 onwards where as our tee off time was 2.30 we asked if we could book in earlier at reception where this was agreed without any issues and at the same time our dinner choices were taken. The restaurant staff were primarliy from the Brighton Hilton for the evening and looked after us extremely well particularly Sydney ? Food at at Dinner and Breakfast was of excellent quality and the rooms were all clean and comfortable.Drink prices in the bar were on the high side but is to be expected at this type of hotel. We will be returning on another golf trip in due course

I had stayed in this hotel many moons ago when it was part of the to Marriott group, I understand it is now Ellite /Britannia hotels and there is nothing ellite about it. Check in time is 4 pm, and checkout 10 am, that gives six hours to clean and turn around the vacated rooms, So you would expect them to be absolutely spotless, room was clean enough, it smelled of smoking but went, when the windows opened, few hairs in the bath tub, the wooden cabinets smelled musty and dust on lamps, but the bed was clean and so was the bedding. On check-in I didn’t realise it was 4pm, I assumed it would be 2 pm or 3 pm at the latest. I asked if any of the rooms were serviced so I could check in early, I was told there were lots of rooms ready but you have to pay £20 extra to check-in early regardless of the fact they ready, I was due to be at a wedding at 5 pm, I had to accept the £20 payment, I was not impressed as this took my one night stay in this hotel to £189 for the night. In comparison I could get a one night stay in the Park Plaza, Waterloo for the same price in London! This hotel is not worth that much a night. The hotel was like a maze and had to go upstairs along creaky corridors carrying a suitcase case up more stairs with no accessibility by lift to my room (room 657) Room had the very basics cheap nasty shampoo, A few sachets of tea and coffee, towels but no bottled water. At night I could hear a few guests from other rooms, it didn’t disturb me. The pool is absolute mess, it had a pipe going from the hot water tap into the pool, which I burnt my bottom on and my husband burned his thumb, I can only assume the heater doesn’t work so it’s the only way they’ve got to heat the pool, The water didn’t look very good I wonder if the filter was working? In photographs on booking.com their shows a Jacuzzi, there isn’t one! there hasn’t been a working for more than 10 months, and the broken one has now been removed altogether, I think it’s very misleading. I don’t like to book a hotel without a pool and a Jacuzzi, I like to relax why I’m away from home. The pool look too scary to go into, and there was no Jacuzzi! Breakfast wasn’t too bad, Choice of cereals, fruit juices and cooked breakfast, no croissants or pastries. Coffee was horrible. Breakfast is advertised until 10am but they closed and locked the doors at 9:58, I only made it with 10 minutes to spare, it wasn’t explained me that breakfast actually ended at 10. I would assume people could still go for breakfast at 10 and still have time to sit down and eat, this is not the case! Would I stay here again absolutely not! it is probably a £50 a night budget hotel in the middle of nowhere unless you are playing golf I really wouldn’t bother. Disappointed that booking.com gives this hotel four stars.

Well, the service at the hotel was excellent too. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful, they were always willing to answer my questions and provide useful advice. Also, the breakfast provided by the hotel was very delicious, varied and had different choices every day. The service at the restaurant is also very good, and the staff is always very thoughtful and welcoming. The only downside is that the hotel is slightly more expensive, but I think the price is still very reasonable given the location and quality of service of the hotel. In short, I really like this hotel and I would definitely choose to stay again if I travel to this city again.

The hotel looks bright and modern, with a decent car park. The many many signs all over the place about fines if you don’t register your vehicle make the parking and hotel entry somewhat intimidating. If they are concerned about parking. Why not just have a barrier with a token from reception to exit? Reception was friendly and we had a room on the ground floor with a lovely view of a ****y bank of earth through a rather small window. The room was clean, well appointed but the ceiling lighting was awfully dim. The bathroom was clean but we didn’t feel that entry/exit from the bath was very safe if you had limited mobility. Dinner in the restaurant was extremely disappointing. The space is modern and the kitchen is open, but the service, though very friendly was extremely and embarrassingly slow. This needs to attended to. The place was not at all busy. In the end we went to the bar to get a drink to fill in the waiting time. Someone on a neighbouring table waited ages for a beer which was served flat and had to wait a long long time for a replacement. Our tear and share bread was so over cooked, we struggled to cut it with a pizza wheel. The fish and chips were very tasty and well presented. The tagliatelle was over cooked and the sauce completely tasteless. The only flavour in the dish came from the nice garlic prawns added as an extra. We decided against deserts as we anticipated another very long wait. While we were there a neighbouring table was re-occupied but was not sanitised between guests. This could have been so much better! Breakfast was easier because it’s self serve, but it was busy and the few staff were unable to keep pace so tables took a long time to be cleared and longer to be cleaned. We had to get our own cutlery as this job was also slow. Breakfast selection and quality was quite acceptable. We were happy with the hotel but it was badly let down by the extremely slow dinner service.

GGuest UserWe booked this hotel as it was in an ideal location, with good reviews and cruise parking. We were not disappointed. We had arranged to leave our car prior to check in so that we could visit Southampton, this was an easy 15 to 20 minute walk. All the staff here are very friendly and nothing is to too much trouble. We had a room at the front and despite its location on a main road it was not noisy, well maintained, appointed and clean. Food served was of the highest standard, well cooked, well served and hot. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The vegetarian breakfast was the best I have had anywhere. I cannot fault this hotel, the staff, rooms and food are amazing. We are looking forward to another visit next month.

GGuest UserWhile all the other hotels at Southampton were very expensive during our stay, The Swan Inn was only 90£ for a room with an on suite shower. We usually stay at big chain hotels so weren’t sure what we’ll get, but decided to give it a shot and don’t regret it! The rooms have everything you need and a great TV, very quiet (especially considering the location), and the owner is absolutely lovely. Thanks a lot to her. We’ll come back if we are in Southampton again.

GGuest UserThis gem of a hotel was booked via ‘Great little Breaks’ with a one night stay, 3 course dinner and breakfast for an unbelievable price. This pleasant hotel offers leisure facilities, exceptionally clean rooms (though not in the main house on all the promotional brochure) . We booked as a last minute de stress trip and felt very relaxed afterwards. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble especially Chetna on reception. Dinner in main restaurant was exceptional each course delicious. The surrounding grounds are beautifully kept and I d guess they d get booked very often for functions and corporate events.

GGuest UserDecided to book this Novotel as a place to stay for a couple of nights in Southampton for some wedding celebrations. We have previously visited this hotel approx 22 years ago as we had our wedding held at this hotel. So we were familiar with the hotel location and surroundings as we frequently visited Southampton centre for many years over the past 22 years. The location is ideal if you are arriving by coach and train. The coach station is literally on the door step of this hotel , approx 500/600 metres away. The train station is also within walking distance too. You really are in the centre within walking distance of the main shopping centre , the West Quay .John Lewis entrance is only a 10 min walk from this hotel which takes you into the West Quay shopping centre. Novotel has a car park , which is shared with 2 other hotels at this location , including an Ibis hotel. There are plenty of spaces to park, however we arrived off season and I can imagine during the cruise season it can get busy. My only grievance with Novotel is, we booked through the Novotel website and it does say on there that parking is available however you have to pay £10 per night to park your car there. Upon arrival, you just speak with the checking in staff, provide them with your car registration number & they simply register it on their system and you pay them at the counter for your parking. So £20 on top of your hotel booking as we were staying for the 2 nights. We decided not to book any breakfast as on your doorstep is a McDonald’s…literally at the car park entrance….there is also an IKEA store 5 minutes walk from the hotel. You can see it from the hotel rooms.since the hotel is alongside the major road alongside the port, you can walk along there to IKEA and towards the pier.if you’re really lucky , you can admire one of the large cruise liners berthed up…we did , you could look at it from the hotel car park. There is also a TGI Fridays restaurant across the car park entrance at this location and a small retail park with a few shops like Poundland etc. The checking in process was seamless and we got the lift to our room which was one of the top floors. The room was pretty large ..we had a king size bed and a large double sofa bed open for our 2 teenage kids. The room had pretty well insulated windows with some really good blackout curtains. The tv was a decent size and the room also boasts a small fridge with some complimentary bottles of water. There is also a small safe which you can change the lock number on however I’m not sure how secure it can be as these budget safes are battery operated with a manual overide key., but they’re handy if you want to place some small items in there like your car keys etc. I wouldn’t be leaving anything particularly valuable in there or your passports if you’re staying here prior to your cruise….you’re better keeping them with you. The overall ambience of our room was warm welcoming relaxing and comforting which is what you want to

GGuest UserWe've just stayed for 1 night pre cruise. The room is slightly dated but clean and comfortable. Plenty of room. Downstairs was nice. Clean and lots of space to sit and chill. Breakfast was nice. Staff were brilliant. Friendly and very helpful. Nothing was too much. A few small issues with the room (nobody's fault just one of those things) the staff went beyond to help and accommodate us. Can't fault them at all. Thank you.

GGuest UserMy 2nd Stay for another Theatre trip this year, booking and parking is easy and it's very convenient for the Theatre and shops, arrival was not very good, a new guy was alone on the front desk and it took at least ten mins to check in (only 1 person in front of me), it was so slow someone standing at the bar walked out, once I finally did get my key card it didn't work, so I and another female guest had to return to reception for cards that did work, the hallway carpet is looking very worn and dated, the aircon not that efficient and the tv unlevel (room 233), the twin beds were smaller than expected and towels were very scarce, for the price I wasn't impressed, but the room fulfilled it's role for the night, the downstairs area is immaculate and breakfast choice very, very good, I went to breakie at just after 8am on the Saturday (24th Sept 22), the orange juice ran out and I told a very nice and helpful female waitress about the problem, and she instantly resolved the problem, people watching as you do, I did notice that this waitress worked her socks off, I would also like to praise a very attractive blonde female hotel guest wearing a Arvia tracksuit, this young lady with a pony tail was extremely courteous to A LOT of people within the restaurant, she constantly and consistently gave way to people as they and she walked about getting their breakfast, she constantly smiled and was the apitamy of courtesy and politeness, i think i saw Georgia on her top, the boat show was on and with the Arvia Launching this year, would imagine she was there (with other colleagues) as PR for the new ship ?. The ibis and near by Novotel do see a lot of cruise people and guests stay and she was a great advert for the Arvia as was the young waitress for Ibis. To Recap; Starting to look dated upstairs, slow booking in process, slightly ”inflated” price, exceptional breakfast and courtesy by staff and other guests, I would stay again and would recommend the Ibis, Southampton for a theatre or shopping break etc.

GGuest UserBeautiful grounds! The entrance to the hotel is amazing. It’s in a fantastic setting, lovely to walk around the grounds aha explore. The room is slightly dated in comparison to other hotels, however the bed is comfy and you have a tv and hot drink facilities. Pool, jacuzzi and steam room were a nice touch.

XXuhaocaiThis hotel is located next to the highway. It is simple like a motel and is surrounded by McDonald's, coffee shops and small supermarkets. It has complete living facilities. Although it is not luxurious, it is clean and comfortable enough to meet the needs of a good night's sleep. For travelers who are in a hurry, it is a convenient and affordable accommodation option.

GGuest UserUpon arriving I was incredibly disappointed. The description on Trip Advisor and elsewhere states: “Set in acres of beautiful countryside, our hotel offers the best of breathtaking scenery” Surrounding the hotel are multiple housing estates and new roads being constructed. I appreciate they don’t control what goes on around them, but please don’t market yourselves as something you are not. My view from the single window was also of a relatively new housing estate, bright street light and at the time a member of staff standing there smoking whilst staring at our bed. Not a great start. Upon arriving, we were allowed to check-in early, which was appreciated. However, as a family (visiting Peppa Pig World) we purchased a package deal - and we had the distinct feeling that we were allocated a special ‘out of the way' room in the ‘out of the way’ wing where they stick the package holiday customers. The room was downstairs and along a long corridor. It was dark and somewhat depressing. The room itself was much the same. The chairs were too dirty to sit on, one of the pillows had some horrible red staining on, the air-con was weak and one of the bedside units (next to my 5-year-olds bed) had a couple of pin nails sticking out ready to split a head open in an instant (I bent them over to avoid this for future guests). The TV didn't work and and there were minor issues, such as holes in the curtains and bed sheets It just felt tired. My worst experience came when wanting to watch my little girl swim with her mum in the pool, but I didn’t want to swim myself. I asked a member of staff if that was possible. He blanked me. I asked again, and there was complete silence - making me feel very uncomfortable. Almost in a ‘why would you want to watch’ kind of way. Still no answer from the staff member. If it hadn’t been my daughter's birthday he’d have been pulled to one side and given a lesson in customer service whether he liked it or not. Clearly rude, and not overly bright. Slight positive, they were accommodating when allowing us some plates for my daughter's cake in our room and a little bit of ice for our drinks. And, the bathroom was quite clean and other than leaky taps it all seemed to work well. We would have ordered food, but some was £30+ a dish, plus a £5 tray charge. I’m happy to pay for good food, but not for a hotel that talks a good game when it comes to their food, but can’t even deliver on a decent cooked breakfast (the sausages were dreadful) - and I very much doubt any was organic, which apparently is if possible…. A few staff members were very friendly, and a few were not. Was it a truly horrible stay? No, but it was certainly forgettable. It would be fine for a business stay, but it’s NOT family-friendly, and feels very dated. It was trying to punch well above its weight. As a dad, my mains concerns for a 'family room' were: 1) Pin nails by the bedready to cause injury. 2) Child's bed pushed up tight against the radiato
