Tabino Hotel Hida Takayama Reviews

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tabino Hotel while exploring Shirakawago, and it was the perfect choice! The hotel is ideally located, making it easy to access the stunning village and its famous thatched-roof houses.  What truly impressed me were the many free amenities offered, from the on-site hot springs to complimentary snacks and beverages. The breakfast was a highlight—delicious and plentiful, with a great selection of both local and international dishes. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making my stay even more enjoyable. If you’re visiting Shirakawago, I highly recommend Tabino Hotel for a comfortable and convenient stay!

Tabino Hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking for a place with a hot spring. Unlike other hotels in the city centre, the hotel is located right next to the river - you will get to see it when you go outdoor. After enjoying the hot spring, the hotel kindly offer each customer a small ramen or ice-cream for free at nighte, it is great to enjoy the food and drinks after the hot Spring! If you love hot spring like me, you can go in the morning as well, they open at 6am, it is probably the best way to start your day! Their breakfast is also great - a wide variety of food is served with many local food choices, it's an amazing opportunity to taste all local food in one go! But if you are not that hungry, you can grab something simple and quick from a convenience store nearby, it is just right opposite to the hotel. Although Tabino hotel may not sit at the heart of Takayama city centre, the hotel offers free shuttle bus from Takayama station throughout the day so it is still very convenient to travel even if you're not driving.

It's a small hotel, not big, but the food is good

Friendly staff, a good price and a free drink and ramen bowl is available in the evening. Despite being on the outskirts of town there is a free shuttle provided to the Nohi bus station so no problem. Very clean room and nice onsen available with an inside and outside bath, highly recommended.

This is second time that I choose to stay at Tabino Hotel Hida Takayama. Hotel is not large but it has everything I need from Public Hot baths to Free Ramen at night.

The hotel is nice. There is a lady at the front desk who can speak Chinese. There is a public hot spring and free noodle soup at 8 o'clock every night. The room is not big. I didn't ask for cleaning during my two-day stay. The hygiene is good. The only drawback is that it is two kilometers away from the downtown area. There is a bus pick-up at JR Takayama Station every day. In short, the price-performance ratio is good👍

First of all, the location is about 3km away from the train station/bus station. Shuttle bus pick-up (see the screenshot for the timetable, which is a PDF downloaded from the official website), which is very convenient. The shuttle bus stop is just across the road from the bus terminal (east exit of the train station), which is the purple sign in the first picture. The room is the smallest in this trip. We only have one large and one small luggage, and it is difficult to fit two suitcases. The breakfast is super good, I like it; there is a happy hour from 17:00 to 19:00 every day; I also took a photo of the opening hours of the hot springs for your reference, but the room price increased several times at the end of a certain festival. There is a Chinese-speaking lady at the front desk who is very nice. Except for the expensive booking time, there is nothing wrong with everything else. Takayama is a very beautiful small city. I will most likely go there again. If I come again, Tabino will be my first choice. Also, the area around this hotel is very beautiful, with gurgling water. If you are not tired at night, you can take a walk. There is also a small police station nearby. Highly recommended!

I think if they rearranged the lockers in the changing room a bit, everyone would have more space to use it. It felt a little cramped with more than three people, but it was great that there was a large public bath and an open-air bath! I went with a friend's family, and the kids really enjoyed the large public bath. I was able to relax and was able to go in again in the morning, so I was very satisfied (^^) Next time, I'd like to take my adult daughter with me!
