Lavande Hotel (Turfan Grand Cross) Reviews

First and foremost, this hotel accepts foreigners. The hotel is quite ok but not great. I booked a no-window non-smoking room (don’t do it, go for room with window) because I thought there is more chance people still smoke in non-smoking rooms with windows. The first room they gave me, put the key card on and electricity didn’t work. Waited for them to check with no result so I was relocated to another room. It’s non-smoking but I can clearly smell the smoke. Took 2 days for the smoke smell to go away which is a pity. The room is small but enough for a solo like me. Each floor they built 4 lines of rooms, the 2 middle lines stay wall-to-wall to each other and are the ‘no-window’ rooms. I would definitely recommend you to choose the room with window, because it means you don’t share a lot of ‘walls’ to other room and have a window to open at least for circulation if room is smelly or if room is too hot. In my case, my room smells smoke, and the room heater system only allows 34-37 degree celsius which is crazy! Very hot if turned on so I had to turn it off the whole time I stay at the hotel. Even though it is winter time, the whole hotel is already on heater. Unable to adjust room temperature is annoying because it means no air circulation. There is a blowing machine (similar to a fan) in the room but it is not efficient quickly enough. The room feels extremely suffocating. I did really wish for a window. Also because the no-window rooms share 3 walls with other rooms (not counting the upper floor), it’s more bad-luck chances for weird noise. In my case, I had to endure one whole freaking night with 2 loud Uyghur couples who cannot hold themselves back from banging the freak out and making all kinds of terrible terrible noise. Seems like no soundproof for these walls.

Excellent location. Right outside the main square. Staff was helpful and friendly. My room was upgraded to a window room. Thankfully as the aircon for some reason stopped working but I’m sure it’s just a glitch which can be fixed. I would stay there again and would recommend to others.

Compared with the previous Lavande, the room is a bit old this time. The hygiene is not good enough. The room without window is still not available. Fortunately, the transportation is convenient. It is located in the city center and there are many restaurants around.

Hygiene: Curly hair was found on the low cabinet next to the wardrobe. It would also make people doubt whether all the cabinets and desktops in the room were wiped. The washbasin had obvious watermarks and there were mud marks from dust and dirt being wiped with water. In short, it was not clean. I had no choice but to wipe it with a wet wipe, but it was all foam. How could this foam have its own disinfection effect? ​​The shower head was even more amazing. It was not tightened before it was used, which made people wonder who used the shower for what. Not to mention that the housekeeping staff would check the facilities and equipment in the room. The TV's travel on demand did not respond and could not be watched at all. Service: Before checking out the next morning, I contacted the front desk to discuss the extension of half a day and one day. The same request was repeated 4 times. 3 people answered the phone to communicate with me. It was agreed to check out 1 room and renew 1 room. Why did the front desk call me after 2 o'clock to ask if I checked out? The work of the front office is done after it is said, and there is no need for handover, right? The employees are not good at Chinese. Doesn't the man who claims to be a manager need to make notes? Of course, I don't know if he is a manager. I went back to the hotel in the afternoon and swiped the room card. I saw that it was an electric card and asked me for the room card. So why did I have to take the electric card? Did it not open the room or could it not be used? In short, the experience was very poor

The hotel is in a good location, with many restaurants nearby. It's quite clean. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable, not too soft. I originally planned to stay for one night, but I wanted to have a good rest on the comfortable bed so I stayed another night. The room was too messy, so I won't take pictures. The overall environment is OK, but there are relatively few parking spaces at the door. The service in the guest rooms is generally OK. The facilities in the hotel were all built in 2019, and the overall sound insulation of the room needs to be further improved.

The Xinjiang girl at the hotel front desk was warm and polite, and the check-in experience was very good!

The room was great, clean and hygienic. The lady at the front desk was Uyghur and very hospitable. She asked us to eat Hami melon when we came in. There was also a humidifier in the room, and the big bed was comfortable.

The soundproofing is not good, you can hear the neighbors talking, there is a night market downstairs, it goes on till late at night, there is blood on the quilt, the corridor is very narrow and crowded, it's like living in a big closet
