Mercure Hida Takayama

We were lucky to stay at Mercure Takayami on their opening night. Everything about the hotel was above our expectations. Rooms were a very comfortable with attention to detail. Having USB and USB C charging ports for our electronics next to the bed was very convenient and meant we didn't need to search for our Japan power adaptors. This hotel has been well designed with a focus on local traditional carpentry and joinery skills. When you book this hotel make sure you book a room that includes access to the private Onsen. We had an open-air experience while we watched the snow from our private onsen. Breakfast had an extensive range of Tradition Hida dishes and Western choices, with different options available each day. This was a great way to try Hida Beef Curry and Hida chicken cooked on a traditional grill. Staff were very helpful going above and beyond with their dedicated and personal service, even searching the internet for me to find a store that sold Yama Cola. We will be back to stay again and will try to stay longer next time.
Residence Hotel Takayama Station

Extremely well located if you want to be right next to the train station and bus station - my room overlooked the tracks. Provision of washing machine and dryer is a superb bonus inroom as are the full cooking facilities. The hotel intelligently provides basics such as oil, salt, coffee, tea and even a couple of detergent sachets for the washing. Strangelt though, no knives or other cutting implements of any kind. A tip if you intent to cook. The Family Mart opposite is basic, but there is a huge supermarket under the tracks and just beyond MacDonalds where you can get international food as well as Japanese. Slightly dreary corridors and a reception crowded with people waiting for their room to become available. But on the plus side they let me into my room early as I was unwell at the time.

overall this resort really for a relaxing holiday and to enjoy the beauty of shirakawa. But due to limited accessibility of transportation, suggest to have more frequency of shuttle service since the location is consider rural . The service of resort need to improve as they are not really go for extra miles. other than that, nice view , great ramen at night and great Onsen.

Since my child was 1 years old, I decided to travel with 3 family members and stayed there. There was also a kids room for children, and the children were very excited. The room was large and I was able to spend it freely. I was just wondering if the air conditioner in the kids room and the electricity were not on. Also, in the women's bath, the temperature of the children's bath was quite lukewarm and cold, and the fence of the crib was low, so it was difficult because I couldn't put the child in. But I also took an open-air bath in the room and it was a very enjoyable trip. Thank you very much.

It's a really good stay to experience a Japanese-style hotel. The staff and onsen are nice, they even provided free ramen, ice cream and drinks! They have 3 private onsen and 2 public onsen. 👍👍 The hotel price is low during off-peak season and weekdays.

A new hotel just built in front of Takayama station. It is a stay type hotel, but artists are decorated everywhere and fashionable. This time, Superior twin. The room itself is not particularly characteristic, but there is a sofa on the window side and it can be relaxed. This sofa is a bed, so you can stay for three people. Electric pots, empty refrigerators, washing dryers, microwave ovens, etc. are also complete. Recommended for long stay. The bathroom is small in the unit. Especially the toilet is small. There is a comfortable public bath, so I wanted to relax the toilet part only by shower. Amenities are only toothbrushes, and amenities are available on the first floor. Shaving, brush, tea bags such as tea and green tea, cosmetics, cotton swabs, cotton, etc. The public bath is also fashionable with designer specifications. There is also an open-air bath. You can enjoy two different design hot springs in the men and women replacement system. The atmosphere is like a public bath in a luxury inn. It doesn't seem to be in front of the station. There are also view lounges and foot baths on the top floor. Convenient location and recommended for sightseeing and business. The staff has a level difference depending on the person. Because it is a new hotel, is it possible?

As the inn's brochure says, ”It feels like it happened a long time ago.” This is an inn where time passes by. The name “Hina no Yu” is “Hina No Hina”. The room was large, about 12 tatami mats, and had a bed, table and chair set. There was also a wide veranda and a porch surrounding the room. The restroom also has a standing restroom for men, and I mentioned that it's rare for an inn to have a men's restroom. When I asked later, I was told that this room was only for boys. Even though I turned off the air conditioner, there was a nice breeze coming in from outside, and I could hear the chirping crows, and we both took a nap after taking a bath. The hot spring had a slight smell of sulfur. The indoor bath was hot and the outdoor bath was lukewarm, which was very comfortable during this hot season. It is a good hot spring with flowing water directly from the source. There are no lotions in the bathroom, so it is better to bring the amenity set provided in your room. There is a rest area near the bath. As I was drinking cold tea, a cool breeze came in from outside through the screen door, and I felt nostalgic for summers before, thinking, ``It's so cool in the evening.'' It's too hot everywhere now. Takahara-juku in the summer is nice and cool. In the rest area, videos of Hotaka and Mt. Yarigatake were shown on the TV, and I watched them while relaxing and drinking something cold. Dinner was served in a private room in a different room. The hinamori was a colorful appetizer with lots of different kinds of seasonal summer vegetables. The sashimi was rock fish and local salmon, the grilled fish was grilled sweetfish, and the ceramic grilled bite-sized steak was Hida beef. The rice was unique and could be eaten as is. A glass of local sake was 660 yen and went well with the food. Breakfast was also served in a private room. The overnight-dried puffer fish and tofu were delicious, and I ended up having a second helping of rice with grilled magnolia miso. After the meal, we had coffee in the lounge in the front area. The coffee cup was in a cup warmer, which was a nice touch since I like hot coffee. Especially in the winter, when you're servicing coffee, the cup gets cold and the coffee ends up lukewarm. In the lounge, there was relaxing classical music playing. It's a shame because it's only cash-only when paying, or because I'm a cashless person. I felt that the quiet landlady and the host had a firm concept for the inn. I entered the hot springs at 2pm and left at 11am, and it was a really relaxing stay.

This is a traditional ryokan. The reception was friendly and professional including tea served in your room upon arrival and an orientation as to the various utilities and yukatas. The room was similar to other ryokans we have visited: large with a low table and two chairs in the centre of the room which are replaced by two comfortable futons put into place while we were at dinner. The difference in this ryokan was a small dressing room with a vanity hidden by a natural beam in the corner of the room as well as four upright chairs in front of a long natural beam table in front of the large picture window. I can understand while some reviewers would see the room as being slightly dated with its dark trim but this is offset by bright halls with their floral carpeting and beautiful stained glass windows. As well, the traditional food was superb - artistically prepared and extremely tasty - with multiple dishes served by our gracious hostess. Given the recent investiture of the new Emperor we had a special menu prepared for Year #1 of Reiwa (the name of the Emperor's era). The onsen was equally excellent, with various pools. A great place to start and end the day. All in all an excellent experience.

Oyado Iguchi is good location near Takayama Station and Takayama Old street. Everything is perfect, big room with private bath. Also there is a small kitchen and microwave in room so that we can cook simple food like noodles and heat up the instant food we bought. No need to eat outside. Room is comfort, and the TV is smart TV which we can watch netflix or youtube. We definitely had great time there. Moreover, the location is good, only few steps away from train station and historical street. Highly recommended
